The GRAEF WK 600 electric kettle includes the following components:

• Lid with an isolated surface

• Button to open the lid

• Spout

• Handle

• ON-/OFF switch with controllamp

• Separate base station with plug

• Inner wall made of stainless steel with an interior filling level indicator

To handle the GRAEF WK 600 safely, follow these instructions:

• Check the unit for external, visible damage to the housing, the connector cable, and the plug before using it. Do not put a damaged unit into operation.

• Repairs should only be performed by a specialist or by the Graef customer service department.

• Defective components must be replaced solely with genuine spare parts.

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use.

• Keep the appliance and its cord out of the reach of children less than 8 years old.

• Do not use the packing material as a toy due to the danger of suffocation.

• The unit is not intended to be used with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.

• The appliance is only to be used with the stand provided.

• To prevent hazards, if the machine’s connection cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service department, or a similarly qualified person.

• Do not use the unit if the connection cable or plug is damaged.

• To avoid danger, prevent liquid spillage on the connector.

• Never open the unit housing. If live connections are touched and the electrical or mechanical structure changes, there is a danger of electric shock.

• Never touch any parts that are conducting electricity, as they can cause an electric shock or even lead to death.

• Always pull the power supply line from the electric socket with the connection plug, not on the connection cable.

• Do not fill the electric kettle with water past the highest mark. Water that bubbles over can lead to injuries.

• Do not touch the outer wall of the unit; it can get hot. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use.

• Touch the unit only on the handle.

• Make sure there is always sufficient water in the unit (the bottom should be covered) to prevent dry boiling.

• Never overfill the kettle; boiling water may be ejected. There is a risk of scalding from escaping steam or hot water.

• Never use the unit near a heat source or outdoors. Store it in a dry place.

• Always pull the plug from the electric socket when filling with water, after each use, and before cleaning.

• Switch the unit on only after you have filled it with water. Use cold water only.

• The lid of the unit must always be firmly closed.

• Never immerse the unit or the base station into water or any other liquid.

To unpack the GRAEF WK 600, proceed as follows:

• Take the unit out of the carton.

• Remove all pieces of the packing.

• Remove any possibly extant labels on the unit (do not remove the rating label).

For safe and flawless operation of the GRAEF WK 600, the place of location must meet these prerequisites:

• The unit must be set up on a firm, flat, level and non-slip base that has sufficient load-bearing capacity.

• Make sure the unit cannot fall over.

• Select the location so that children cannot reach the hot surfaces of the unit and cannot touch the cable.

Before using the GRAEF WK 600 for the first time, it’s important to clean the unit. First, fill the unit with clear, cold water and then boil it. Subsequently, pour away the water for hygenical reasons.

1. Take hold of the base station and unwind the cable as far as it goes.

2. Plug the plug into the electric socket.

3. Open the lid and fill the unit with water up to a maximum of 1.5 litres.

4. Close the lid.

5. Put the unit back onto the base station and push the ON-/OFF switch. The indicator lights blue and the unit is switched on.

Important: Do not open the lid during the boiling process. Make sure you do not exceed the internal maximum filling level mark. Fill the unit so that the water level is between the minimum and maximum indicator line.

• As soon as boiling stops, the unit automatically shuts off and the indicator light extinguishes.

• If desired, you can press the on/off switch again to boil the water once more. However, before doing that, please wait about 30 seconds after the unit has automatically shut itself off.

The GRAEF WK 600 is equipped with a dry running and overheating protection system. If you ever operate the unit without any water or with too little water, the unit shuts itself off. Wait a moment until the unit has cooled off. Then, fill the unit with water and continue as usual.

If you happen to lift the GRAEF WK 600 off the base station while boiling, the unit shuts itself off. This is the so-called lift-off shut-off feature.

First, pull the plug out of the electric socket and let the GRAEF WK 600 cool off. Clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, moist cloth. If it is heavily soiled, you can use a mild detergent.

Depending on the hardness degree of the water, lime scale can build up over time. To regularly decalcify the GRAEF WK 600, follow these steps:

• Fill the unit three-quarters full with water.

• Boil it.

• After the unit has shut itself off, fill the unit additionally with distilled white vinegar up to the MAX mark.

Important: Never boil this mixture!

• Let the mixture stand overnight.

• Empty the unit and rinse it out several times with clear water.

At the end of its service life, the GRAEF WK 600 must not be disposed of through normal domestic waste. It must be disposed of at a collection point for recycling electronic domestic refuse. The symbol on the product and in the operating instructions points this out. The materials can be recycled in accordance with their markings. Please ask your municipal administration about the responsible disposal sites.
