Bowers & Wilkins will not be held responsible for any damage or injury caused by insecure installation. The installation of the BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6 must be carried out in accordance with national building and wiring regulations.

The following components are included with your BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6:

a) 1x ISW-6 Subwoofer assembly

b) 4x Mounting brackets

c) 4x Nuts

d) 1x Trim

e) 1x Paintable Trim

f) 1x Grille

g) 1x Paintable Grille

h) 8x Thin spacers

i) 8x Thick spacers

For a successful installation of the BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6, please adhere to the following placement requirements:

Wall Stud Spacing: The distance between the wall studs must be a minimum of 350mm and a maximum of 384mm.

Floor Clearance: The bottom of the subwoofer unit must be positioned at least 200mm from the floor.

The BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6 can be installed in both stud-frame and solid block walls.

1. Position the four mounting brackets (b) against the inner faces of the wall studs.

2. Ensure the brackets are angled slightly outward from the center.

3. The vertical distance between the centers of the top and bottom brackets must be 314mm.

4. Securely fasten the four brackets to the studs using appropriate screws for your wall type.

To connect speaker wires to the BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6 subwoofer, follow these steps:

1. Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) speaker terminals on the subwoofer assembly. The positive terminal is typically red, and the negative terminal is black.

2. Press the tab on the terminal to open the wire hole.

3. Insert the stripped end of the positive speaker wire into the positive (+) terminal and release the tab to secure it.

4. Insert the stripped end of the negative speaker wire into the negative (-) terminal and release the tab.

5. Gently pull on both wires to ensure they are securely clamped.

1. After installing the four mounting brackets (b) to the wall studs, take the main subwoofer assembly (a).

2. Align the threaded posts on the subwoofer assembly with the corresponding slots in the mounting brackets.

3. Carefully slide the subwoofer assembly onto the mounting brackets until it is fully seated.

4. Secure the subwoofer assembly to the mounting brackets by fastening the four provided nuts (c) onto the threaded posts. Tighten them firmly.

After the subwoofer is mounted within the wall cavity, you can proceed with installing the drywall and creating the cutout.

1. Install the drywall over the wall studs and the mounted BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6.

2. Place the provided “ISW-6 Cutting Template” on the drywall over the location of the subwoofer.

3. Use a pencil to trace the outline of the template onto the drywall.

4. Carefully cut along the traced line using a drywall saw or appropriate cutting tool to create the opening for the subwoofer’s front face.

There are two options for installing the trim for the BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6, depending on your desired finish.

Option 1: Standard Trim Installation

1. Place the standard trim (d) into the wall cutout, aligning its screw holes with the mounting points on the subwoofer assembly.

2. Place one of the thin spacers (h) over each of the eight screw holes.

3. Use the eight provided screws to fasten the trim through the spacers and into the subwoofer assembly.

Option 2: Paintable Trim Installation

1. If you wish to use the paintable trim (e), first snap it onto the front of the standard trim (d).

2. Place the combined trim assembly into the wall cutout.

3. Place one of the thick spacers (i) over each of the eight screw holes.

4. Use the eight provided screws to fasten the trim assembly through the spacers and into the subwoofer assembly.

The BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6 comes with two grille options: a standard grille (f) and a paintable grille (g). Both attach magnetically.

1. Choose either the standard grille (f) or the paintable grille (g).

2. If using the paintable grille, paint it to match your decor before installation.

3. Align the grille with the installed trim frame.

4. Gently place the grille against the trim; it will snap into place magnetically.

The BOWERS & WILKINS ISW-6 is designed to be used with the Bowers & Wilkins CDA-4D distribution amplifier. To connect it, use a suitable speaker cable with the appropriate four-pin connector. Plug one end of the speaker cable into the corresponding output port on the back of the CDA-4D amplifier, and connect the other end to the input terminals of the ISW-6 subwoofer.
