The GARMIN NUVI 1370 includes the following features:

Device Components:

Power button: Press to turn the GARMIN NUVI 1370 on and off.

Speaker: Provides audio output.

Mini-USB connector: Port for power and data connection.

microSD™ card slot: For additional maps and data.

Microphone: For hands-free calling.

Main Menu Functions:

1. GPS satellite strength: Shows the strength of the GPS signal.

2. Bluetooth technology status: Indicates if Bluetooth is active and connected.

3. Usage mode: Touch to select a usage mode (e.g., Automobile, Pedestrian).

4. Current time: Touch to change time settings.

5. Battery status: Shows the current battery level.

6. Where To?: Touch to find a destination.

7. View Map: Touch to view the map.

8. Phone: Touch to make a call when connected to a compatible mobile phone.

9. Volume: Touch to adjust the volume.

10. Tools: Touch to use tools such as settings and Help.

Follow these steps to mount your GARMIN NUVI 1370:

1. Remove the clear plastic from the suction cup. Place the suction cup on the windshield.

2. Flip the lever back toward the windshield.

3. Snap the cradle onto the suction cup arm.

4. Plug the vehicle power cable into the back of your GARMIN NUVI 1370.

5. Plug the other end of the vehicle power cable into a power outlet in your vehicle. Your unit should turn on automatically if it is plugged in and the vehicle is running. Follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Fit the bottom of your GARMIN NUVI 1370 into the cradle.

7. Tilt your GARMIN NUVI 1370 back until it snaps into place.

8. If you are using a traffic receiver in Europe, connect the external antenna to the traffic receiver and secure it to the windshield using the suction cups.

WARNING: This product contains a lithium-ion battery. To prevent damage, remove the unit from the vehicle when exiting or store it out of direct sunlight.

1. Go outdoors to an open area, away from tall buildings and trees.

2. Turn on your GARMIN NUVI 1370.

Acquiring satellite signals can take a few minutes. The bars on the main menu indicate satellite strength. When at least one of the bars is green, your GARMIN NUVI 1370 has acquired satellite signals.

Your GARMIN NUVI 1370 offers several usage modes for different navigation methods (Automobile, Bicycle, Pedestrian). Routing is calculated differently based on your usage mode.

To change your usage mode:

1. From the Main menu, touch the usage mode icon on the upper-left corner.

2. Select a mode, and touch OK.

3. Touch Yes, and follow the on-screen instructions to configure your settings.

If you are not following roadways as you navigate, use Off Road mode. Touch Tools > Settings > Navigation > Route Preference > Off Road > OK.

Press and quickly release the Power button to view additional options:

• Touch the brightness icons to adjust the screen brightness.

• Touch Lock Screen to prevent accidental screen touches.

• Touch Power Off to turn off your GARMIN NUVI 1370. You can also turn off the device by holding the power button for approximately three seconds.

If your GARMIN NUVI 1370 stops functioning, reset it by pressing and holding the Power button.

From the Main menu, touch Volume. Touch the plus and minus icons to adjust the volume. Touch the box next to Mute to mute all audio.

• To quickly return to the Main menu, touch and hold the back arrow icon.

• Touch the up and down arrows to see more choices. Touch and hold to scroll faster.

1. Touch Where To?.

2. Select a category (e.g., Address, Points of Interest).

3. Select a subcategory if needed.

4. Select a destination from the list.

5. Touch Go! to start navigation.

In Pedestrian usage mode, the Itinerary page or Route Options page appears after you touch Go!.

Using the Route Options Page:

1. Select a route from the Route Options page to view the Itinerary page. Each route offers a different combination of public transit or pedestrian options.

2. Touch Start.

Using the Itinerary Page:

Select a leg of the route to view more detailed instructions, or touch Start to create a route.

1. While navigating a route, touch the screen to open the menu, then touch Where To?.

2. Search for the extra stop.

3. Touch Go!.

4. Touch Add as Via Point to add this stop before your final destination.

1. While navigating a route, touch the screen, then touch Where To?.

2. Search for the new destination.

3. Touch Go!.

4. Touch Set as New Destination to make this your final destination.

1. While navigating a route, touch the detour icon on the map screen.

2. Touch an option for the detour.

If the route you are currently taking is the only reasonable option, the GARMIN NUVI 1370 might not calculate a detour.

1. With a route active, touch Menu.

2. Touch Stop.

1. Touch Where To? > Address.

2. Change the state, the country, or the province, if necessary.

3. Touch Search All. If you know the city, touch Spell City, enter the city/postal code, and touch Done. Select the city/postal code in the list.

4. Enter the number of the address, and touch Done.

5. Enter the street name, and touch Done.

6. Select the correct street in the list, if necessary.

7. Touch the address, if necessary.

1. To set your home location, touch Where To? > Go Home.

2. Select an option:

• Enter your address.

• Use your current location.

• Choose from a list of recently found locations.

To navigate home, touch Where To? > Go Home.

After you have selected a location to navigate to, the Go! page opens with these options:

1. Information Box: Touch to view more information for the location.

2. Zoom: Touch + and – to zoom in and out on the map.

3. Call: Touch to call this location when connected to a phone.

4. Save: Touch to save this location to your Favorites.

5. Go!: Touch to create a turn-by-turn route to this location.

6. Back Arrow: Touch to return to the previous page. Touch and hold to return to the Main menu.

1. On the Go! page, touch the white information box for the location.

2. Touch Feedback for the following options:

• Edit Rating: Touch a circle to give the POI a rating from 1 to 5 stars.

• Report Error: The item will be removed from future searches. Reports will be sent to Garmin when your nüvi is connected to a computer.

• Edit Phone Number: Use the keyboard to change the phone number.

1. Touch Where To? > Points of Interest > Spell Name.

2. Using the on-screen keyboard, enter letters of the name of your destination.

3. Touch Done.

1. Touch Where To? > Near.

2. Select an option:

• Where I Am Now: Search near your current location.

• A Different City: Search near the city you enter.

• A Recent Destination: Search near a recent destination.

• A Favorite Destination: Select a destination from Favorites.

• My Current Route: Search along your active route.

• My Destination: Search near your current destination.

Saving Places You Find:

1. From the Go! page, touch Save.

2. Touch OK. The place is saved in Favorites.

Saving Your Current Location:

From the Map page, touch the vehicle icon, then touch Save Location to save your current location.

Editing Saved Places (Favorites):

1. Touch Where To? > Favorites.

2. Select the category and the location you want to edit.

3. Touch Edit.

4. Touch an item to edit:

• Change Name: Enter a new name, and touch Done.

• Attach Photo: Select a picture to assign to the location.

• Change Map Symbol: Touch a new symbol to mark this location on the map.

• Change Phone Number: Enter a phone number, and touch Done.

• Change Categories: Select another category for the location.

• Delete: Touch Yes to remove this item from the Favorites list.

To pair and connect, your phone and the GARMIN NUVI 1370 must be turned on and be within 33 ft. (10 m) of each other.

Pairing Using the GARMIN NUVI 1370 Settings:

1. From the Main menu, touch Tools > Settings > Bluetooth > Add.

2. Enable the Bluetooth component on your phone, and enable Find Me/Discoverable/Visible mode.

3. Touch OK on the nüvi.

4. Select your phone, and touch OK.

5. Enter the nüvi Bluetooth PIN (1234) in your phone.

Pairing Using Your Phone Settings:

1. On the nüvi, touch Tools > Settings > Bluetooth and select Enabled.

2. Enable the Bluetooth component on your phone.

3. Initiate a search for Bluetooth devices on your phone.

4. Select the GARMIN NUVI 1370 from the list of devices.

5. Enter the nüvi Bluetooth PIN (1234) into your phone.

Receiving a Call: When you get a call, the Incoming Call window opens. Touch Answer to answer the call. Touch Ignore to ignore the call.

During a Call: The In Call icon appears. Touch it, then touch End Call to hang up. Touch Call Options for the following:

• Touch Tones: Displays a keypad for automated systems.

• Transfer Audio To Phone: Switches the call audio to your phone for privacy.

• Mute Microphone: Mutes your microphone.

Call Waiting: If you receive a second call, the Incoming Call window appears. Touch Answer to place the first call on hold. To switch between calls, touch the In Call icon and then Switch To.

From the Main menu, touch Phone to open the Phone menu. From here you can:

• Phone Book: Touch Phone > Phone Book, select a contact, and touch Call.

• Call History: Touch Phone > Call History, select a category, an entry, and touch Dial.

• Points of Interest: Touch Phone > Points of Interest, search for a POI, and touch Call.

• Dial: Touch Phone > Dial, enter the number, and touch Dial.

• Call Home: Touch Phone > Call Home to dial your home phone number.

• Voice Dial: Touch Phone > Voice Dial and speak the contact’s name.

1. Insert a memory card (optional). Press it in until it clicks.

2. Connect the mini-USB connector to the back of the GARMIN NUVI 1370.

3. Connect the larger end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.

Your GARMIN NUVI 1370 and memory card will appear as removable drives in My Computer (Windows) or as mounted volumes (Mac).

Transferring Files:

1. Connect your device to the computer. Browse your computer for the file you want to copy.

2. Highlight the file, and click Edit > Copy.

3. Open the “Garmin” or memory card drive/volume.

4. Click Edit > Paste.

5. When finished, safely eject the device and unplug it.

Deleting Files:

1. Connect the GARMIN NUVI 1370 to your computer and open the nüvi or memory card drive/volume.

2. Highlight the file you want to delete.

3. Press the Delete key on the computer keyboard.

CAUTION: If you do not know the purpose of a file, do not delete it. Your nüvi memory contains important system files that should not be deleted.

The “Where Am I?” page provides your current location information, including nearby hospitals, police stations, and fuel stations. This is helpful if you need to tell emergency personnel your location.

1. From the Main menu, touch Tools > Where Am I?.

2. Touch a button on the right to view the nearest locations in that category.

3. Touch Save Location to save your current location.

Touch Tools > ecoRoute. This feature calculates your vehicle’s fuel economy, carbon footprint, and the fuel price of navigating to a destination. The first time you access it, you will be asked to enter fuel and mileage information about your vehicle.

• Fuel Report: View your average fuel economy, carbon footprint, and cost of fuel consumed. Touch Tools > ecoRoute > Fuel Report.

• Calibrate Fuel Economy: For more accurate reports, calibrate when you fill up your fuel tank. Calculate your miles per gallon, then touch Tools > ecoRoute > Fuel Report > Calibrate and enter the value.

• Adjust Fuel Price: Touch Tools > ecoRoute > Fuel Price and enter the current price.

• Driving Challenge: Maximize fuel economy by scoring your driving habits. Touch Tools > ecoRoute > Driving Challenge > Start.

• Vehicle Profile: Adjust your vehicle’s fuel type and efficiency. Touch Tools > ecoRoute > Vehicle Profile.

Your GARMIN NUVI 1370 can receive FM TMC (Traffic Message Channel) content with a compatible traffic receiver. When receiving traffic information, a traffic icon appears on the Map page. The icon changes color to indicate the severity of traffic conditions.

Manually Avoiding Traffic on Your Route:

1. On the Map page, touch the traffic icon.

2. Touch Traffic On Route.

3. Touch the arrows to view other traffic delays on your route, if necessary.

4. Touch Avoid to avoid the traffic delay.

Viewing the Traffic Map:

On the Map page, touch the traffic icon, then touch Show Traffic Map to view color-coded traffic flow and delays on nearby roads.

Touch Tools > Settings > System to change the following:

• GPS Simulator: Turn on to turn off the GPS mode, simulate navigation, and save battery power.

• Usage Mode: Specify how you will be navigating (Automobile, Pedestrian, or Bicycle).

• Keyboard: Touch QWERTY for a standard layout or ABCDE for an alphabetical layout.

• Units: Change units of measure to Kilometers or Miles.

• About: Display software version, unit ID, and other information.

• Restore: Restore the system settings to factory defaults.

Touch Tools > Settings > Navigation to change the following:

• Route Preference: Select a preference for calculating your route (Faster Time, Shorter Distance, Off Road, Less Fuel).

• Avoidances: Select the road types you want to avoid on your routes.

• Transit Types: Select which mode of public transit you would like to avoid. (Available with cityXplorer maps).

• Restore: Restore the original navigation settings.

Touch Tools > Settings > Map to change the following:

• Map Detail: Adjust the amount of detail shown on the map.

• Map View: Select a map perspective (Track Up, North Up, 3D).

• Vehicle: Change the icon used to display your position on the map.

• Trip Log: Show or hide the log of your travels.

• Map Info: View and enable/disable the maps loaded on your device.

• Restore: Restore the original map settings.

• Cleaning the Unit: Clean the outer casing (not the touchscreen) using a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution, then wipe it dry. Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents.

• Cleaning the Touchscreen: Clean the touchscreen with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. Use water, isopropyl alcohol, or eyeglass cleaner if needed. Apply the liquid to the cloth, and then gently wipe the touchscreen.

• Protecting Your nüvi: Do not store the device where prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures can occur. Do not expose the device to water. Never use a hard or sharp object to operate the touchscreen.

Garmin Lock is a theft-deterrent system. Each time you turn on the GARMIN NUVI 1370, you must enter a 4-digit PIN or drive to a pre-set security location.

1. Touch Tools > Settings > Security.

2. Touch the button below Garmin Lock.

3. Enter a 4-digit PIN and drive to a security location (a location you return to often, like home).

If the device has satellite signals and you are at the security location, you do not need to enter the PIN.

1. Turn off the GARMIN NUVI 1370.

2. Hold the upper-left corner of the screen while turning on the device.

3. Release the Power button when the Garmin screen appears.

4. Continue to hold the upper-left corner of the touch screen for 30 seconds until a white screen with “Press dot” appears. Follow the on-screen instructions.

IMPORTANT: This deletes all user-entered information.

1. Hold your finger on the lower-right corner of the nüvi screen while turning on the device.

2. Keep your finger pressed until the pop-up window appears.

3. Touch Yes to clear all user data.

All original settings are restored and any items you have saved are erased.

Charge your GARMIN NUVI 1370 for at least 4 hours before using it on battery power. You can charge it by using one of the following methods:

• Connect the vehicle power cable.

• Connect the USB cable (included in some packages) to a computer.

• Connect an AC adapter (optional accessory).

To increase the accuracy of the battery gauge, fully discharge the battery and then fully charge it. Do not unplug the nüvi until it is totally charged.

If your unit will not charge in your vehicle, you might need to replace the fuse located at the tip of the vehicle adapter.

1. Unscrew the black, round end piece, and remove it. You may need to use a coin to remove the end piece.

2. Remove the fuse (glass and silver cylinder), and replace it with the appropriate fuse type, which can be found on the side of the vehicle adapter.

3. Ensure that the silver tip is placed in the black end piece. Screw on the black end piece.

• To remove the nüvi from the cradle: Press the tab of the cradle while tilting the nüvi forward.

• To remove the cradle from the mount: Turn the cradle to the right or left. Apply pressure in that direction until the cradle snaps off the mount.

• To remove the suction cup mount from the windshield: Flip the lever toward you. Pull the tab on the suction cup toward you.

Take your GARMIN NUVI 1370 out of parking garages and away from tall buildings and trees. Remain stationary for several minutes.

Clean the suction cup and windshield with rubbing alcohol. Dry with a clean, dry cloth. Mount the suction cup as described in the setup instructions.

Check the fuse in the vehicle power cable. Ensure the vehicle is turned on and is supplying power to the power outlet. Your GARMIN NUVI 1370 can only charge between 32°F and 113°F (between 0°C and 45°C). If the nüvi is placed in direct sunlight or in a hot environment, it cannot charge.

To maximize the time between charges, turn down the backlight. Touch Tools > Settings > Display > Brightness.

Allow the unit to fully discharge, and then fully charge it without interrupting the charge cycle to improve the accuracy of the battery gauge.

Calibrate the touchscreen. Turn the device off. Press and hold the top-left corner of the screen while turning the device on. Continue to hold for about 30 seconds until the calibration screen appears and follow the prompts.

When your GARMIN NUVI 1370 is in USB mass storage mode, a picture of a nüvi connected to a computer is shown. Also, you should see two new removable disk drives listed in My Computer (on Windows).

1. Unplug the USB cable from your computer.

2. Turn off the GARMIN NUVI 1370.

3. Plug the USB cable into a USB port on your computer and into your GARMIN NUVI 1370. The device should automatically turn on and go into USB mass storage mode. Ensure your device is connected to a USB port and not a USB hub.

If you have several network drives mapped on your computer, Windows can have trouble assigning drive letters to your GARMIN NUVI 1370 drives. See your operating system Help file to learn how to map or assign drive letters.

First, save the hotel in your Favorites. Then you can search near the hotel for restaurants.

1. Touch Where To? > Near.

2. Select A Favorite Destination.

3. Select the hotel as the destination.

4. Touch Points of Interest > Food and Drink.

5. Select a category. Your GARMIN NUVI 1370 searches for locations near the hotel.

6. Select a restaurant.

Ensure you have a GARMIN NUVI 1370 with Bluetooth. Touch Tools > Settings > Bluetooth. Verify that the Bluetooth field is set to Enabled. Ensure your phone is turned on and is less than 33 feet (about 10 meters) away from your GARMIN NUVI 1370.
