The GARMIN NUVI 1100 model has the following features:

The Main Menu of your GARMIN NUVI 1100 has several icons and functions:

1. GPS satellite strength: Shows the current strength of the GPS signal.

2. Bluetooth technology status: Indicates if Bluetooth is active.

3. Usage mode: Touch to select a usage mode (e.g., Automobile, Pedestrian).

4. Current time: Touch to change time settings.

5. Battery status: Shows the current battery level.

6. “Where To?”: Touch to find a destination.

7. “View Map”: Touch to view the map.

8. Phone: Touch to make a call when connected to a compatible mobile phone (on some models).

9. Volume: Touch to adjust the volume.

10. Tools: Touch to use tools such as settings and Help.

To mount your GARMIN NUVI 1100, follow these steps:

1. Remove the clear plastic from the suction cup. Place the suction cup on the windshield.

2. Flip the lever back toward the windshield to secure the suction cup.

3. Snap the cradle onto the suction cup arm.

4. Plug the vehicle power cable into the back of your GARMIN NUVI 1100.

5. Plug the other end of the vehicle power cable into a power outlet in your vehicle. The unit should turn on automatically if it is plugged in and the vehicle is running. Follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Fit the bottom of your GARMIN NUVI 1100 into the cradle.

7. Tilt your device back until it snaps into place.

WARNING: This product contains a lithium-ion battery. To prevent damage, remove the unit from the vehicle when exiting or store it out of direct sunlight.

1. Go outdoors to an open area, away from tall buildings and trees.

2. Turn on your GARMIN NUVI 1100.

Acquiring satellite signals can take a few minutes. The bars on the screen indicate satellite strength. When at least one of the bars is green, your device has acquired satellite signals.

Your GARMIN NUVI 1100 offers several usage modes for different navigation methods, such as Automobile, Pedestrian, and Bicycle. To change your usage mode:

1. From the Main menu, touch the usage mode icon on the upper-left corner.

2. Select a mode, and touch OK.

3. Touch Yes, and follow the on-screen instructions to configure your settings.

If you are not following roadways as you navigate, use Off Road mode. Touch Tools > Settings > Navigation > Route Preference > Off Road > OK.

Press and quickly release the Power button to view additional options:

• Touch the brightness icons to adjust the screen brightness.

• Touch Lock Screen to prevent accidental screen touches.

• Touch Power Off to turn off your GARMIN NUVI 1100. You can also turn off the device by holding the power button for approximately three seconds.

If your GARMIN NUVI 1100 stops functioning, reset it by pressing and holding the Power button.

From the Main menu, touch Volume. Touch the plus and minus icons to adjust the volume. Touch the box next to Mute to mute all audio.

To perform a simple search for a destination:

1. Touch Where To?.

2. Select a category, such as “Points of Interest”.

3. Select a subcategory, such as “Attractions”.

4. Select a destination from the list.

5. Touch Go! to start navigation.

1. While navigating a route, touch the menu icon, then touch Where To?.

2. Search for the extra stop.

3. Touch Go!.

4. Touch Add as Via Point to add this stop before your final destination.

1. While navigating a route, touch the menu icon, then touch Where To?.

2. Search for the new destination.

3. Touch Go!.

4. Touch Set as New Destination to make this your final destination.

1. While navigating a route, touch the menu icon.

2. Touch the detour icon.

If the route you are currently taking is the only reasonable option, the GARMIN NUVI 1100 might not calculate a detour.

1. With a route active, touch Menu.

2. Touch Stop.

1. Touch Where To? > Address.

2. Change the state, country, or province, if necessary.

3. Touch Search All. If you know the city, touch Spell City, enter the city/postal code, and touch Done. Select it from the list.

4. Enter the number of the address, and touch Done.

5. Enter the street name, and touch Done.

6. Select the correct street in the list, if necessary.

7. Touch the address, if necessary, to begin navigation.

To set your home location for the place you return to most often:

1. Touch Where To? > Go Home.

2. Select an option:

• Enter your address.

• Use your current location.

• Choose from a list of recently found locations.

To navigate home, touch Where To? > Go Home.

After you have selected a location to navigate to, the Go! page opens with the following options:

1. Information Box: Touch to view more information for the location.

2. Zoom Controls (+/-): Touch to zoom in and out.

3. Call: Touch to call this location when connected to a phone.

4. Save: Touch to save this location to your Favorites.

5. Go!: Touch to create a turn-by-turn route to this location.

6. Back Arrow: Touch to return to the previous page. Touch and hold to return to the Main menu.

1. Touch Where To? > Points of Interest > Spell Name.

2. Using the on-screen keyboard, enter letters of the name of your destination.

3. Touch Done.

1. Touch Where To? > Near.

2. Select an option:

• Where I Am Now: search near your current location.

• A Different City: search near the city you enter.

• A Recent Destination: search near a recent destination.

• A Favorite Destination: select a destination from Favorites.

• My Current Route: search along your active route.

• My Destination: search near your current destination.

1. Touch Where To? > Favorites.

2. Select the category and the location you want to edit.

3. Touch Edit.

4. Touch an item to edit:

• Change Name: enter a new name, and touch Done.

• Attach Photo: select a picture that you have loaded on your device to assign to the location.

• Change Map Symbol: touch a new symbol used to mark this location on the map.

• Change Phone Number: enter a phone number, and touch Done.

• Change Categories: select another category for the location.

• Delete: touch Yes to remove this item from the Favorites list.

On some models, you can create and save up to 10 routes:

1. With a route active, touch Where to? (or Tools) > Routes > New.

2. Touch Add New Start Point.

3. Find a location as your starting point, and touch Select.

4. Touch Add New End Point.

5. Find a location as your ending point, and touch Select.

6. Touch the plus icon to add another location to your route. Touch the minus icon to remove a location.

7. Touch Next to calculate your route and view it on the map.

8. Touch Save to save the route and exit.

If you know the geographic coordinates of your destination:

1. Touch Where To? > Coordinates.

2. Touch the coordinate you want to adjust.

3. Touch Format to select the correct coordinate format for the type of map you are using.

4. Enter the coordinates, and touch Next.

Your route is marked with a magenta line. As you travel, your GARMIN NUVI 1100 guides you with voice prompts, arrows on the map, and directions at the top of the map. A checkered flag marks your destination.

The map page has several interactive elements:

1. Next Turn: Touch to view the next turn.

2. Turn List: Touch to view the turn list.

3. Zoom: Touch to zoom in and out.

4. Back Arrow: Touch to return to the Main menu.

5. Data Field: Touch to display a different data field.

6. Vehicle Icon: Touch to view the Where Am I? page.

7. Trip Computer: Touch to view the trip computer.

To view the trip computer, touch the Speed field on the map. The trip computer displays your current speed and provides statistics about your trip.

To reset information:

• From the map, touch the Speed field.

• Touch Reset > Reset Trip Data to reset the trip information.

• Touch Reset > Reset Max to reset the maximum speed.

• Touch Reset > Reset Fuel Price to reset the fuel price.

You can store files, such as JPEG images, in the internal memory or on a memory card.

Connecting to Your Computer:

1. Insert a memory card (optional).

2. Connect the mini-USB connector to the back of the GARMIN NUVI 1100.

3. Connect the larger end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.

Your device and memory card will appear as removable drives on your computer.

Transferring Files:

1. Browse your computer for the file you want to copy.

2. Highlight the file and click Edit > Copy.

3. Open the “Garmin” or memory card drive/volume.

4. Click Edit > Paste.

Deleting Files:

1. Connect the GARMIN NUVI 1100 to your computer and open the drive/volume.

2. Highlight the file you want to delete.

3. Press the Delete key on the computer keyboard.

CAUTION: If you do not know the purpose of a file, do not delete it. Your device memory contains important system files that should not be deleted.

The “Where Am I?” page provides current location information, including nearby hospitals, police stations, and fuel. This is helpful if you need to tell emergency personnel your location.

1. From the Main menu, touch Tools > Where Am I?.

2. Touch a button on the right to view the nearest locations in that category.

3. Touch Save Location to save your current location.

IMPORTANT: This deletes all user-entered information.

1. Hold your finger on the lower-right corner of the GARMIN NUVI 1100 screen while turning on the device.

2. Keep your finger pressed until the pop-up window appears.

3. Touch Yes to clear all user data.

All original settings are restored, and any items that you have saved are erased.

If your GARMIN NUVI 1100 will not charge in your vehicle, you might need to replace the fuse located at the tip of the vehicle adapter.

CAUTION: When replacing the fuse, do not lose any of the small pieces, and ensure they are put back in the proper place.

1. Unscrew the black, round end piece, and remove it. You may need to use a coin to remove the end piece.

2. Remove the fuse (glass and silver cylinder), and replace it with the appropriate fuse type, which can be found on the side of the vehicle adapter.

3. Ensure that the silver tip is placed in the black end piece. Screw on the black end piece.

• To remove the GARMIN NUVI 1100 from the cradle: Press the tab of the cradle while tilting the device forward.

• To remove the cradle from the mount: Turn the cradle to the right or left. Apply pressure in that direction until the cradle snaps off the mount.

• To remove the suction cup mount from the windshield: Flip the lever toward you. Pull the tab on the suction cup toward you.
