GALLAGHER recommends charging your S80 Solar Energizer before its first use. If the battery level is below 50%, placing the unit in direct sunlight for one full day should bring it to a 100% charge.

To ensure proper operation, the GALLAGHER S80 energizer must be installed above the ground. It can be mounted on a post. Do not place the energizer directly on the ground, in tall grass, or in a position where it could be partially buried.

The solar panel on the GALLAGHER S80 should always face towards the equator to maximize sun exposure.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the panel must face South.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the panel must face North.

Additionally, ensure the energizer is installed in a location where the solar panel will receive direct sunlight and is not shaded by trees or other objects.

Before operation, you must remove the battery isolation tab. This tab is located in a slot on the unit. Pull the tab completely out to connect the battery before proceeding with the installation.

The GALLAGHER S80 has two terminals for connecting the leads:

1. Connect the red clip to the fence terminal, which is marked with a lightning bolt symbol.

2. Connect the green clip to the earth terminal, which is marked with a ground symbol.

A proper ground system is crucial for the energizer to function correctly. The earth stake connected to the green terminal should be driven at least 60cm (24 inches) into the ground. For optimal performance, the distance between the energizer and the earth connection point should be greater than 1.2m (4ft).

The GALLAGHER S80 is operated using the rotary dial on the front of the unit. There are two main operating modes:

Mode 1 (Horse/Cattle):

• Indicated by a sun symbol and icons of a horse and cow.

• Daylight pulse interval: 1.5 seconds.

• Night-time pulse interval: 2.5 seconds.

Mode 2 (Wildlife):

• Indicated by a tree symbol and icons of a deer and boar.

• Daylight pulse interval: 1.3 seconds.

• Night-time pulse interval: 1.3 seconds.

Turn the dial to ‘O’ to switch the energizer off.

The LED indicator lights on the GALLAGHER S80 provide information about the energizer’s status:

• Green light flashing: The energizer is operating correctly.

• Red light flashing: This is a low battery warning, indicating the battery needs to be recharged.

• Green and Red lights flashing together: This indicates a fence fault, such as a short circuit, is detected.

To fully recharge the battery, first switch the energizer off using the dial. Then, place the unit in direct sunlight for 3 days.

To store the GALLAGHER S80, switch the energizer off. Store it in a cool, dry, dark, and ventilated area to minimize battery current draw. It is important to recharge the battery before and after seasonal storage.

If battery fluid comes into contact with you, take the following immediate actions:

• Eyes: Flush the affected area with water for at least 15 minutes. Ensure adequate flushing by separating the eyelids with your fingers. Call a physician.

• Skin: Immediately flush the affected area with water and/or soap.

The GALLAGHER S80 contains a Lithium battery that is not user-replaceable. The battery must be replaced by a trained professional using a Gallagher-approved lithium battery. For battery replacement or disposal, you must return the energizer to a Gallagher Authorised Service Centre.

The GALLAGHER S80 complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
