To reduce the risk of burns, electric shock, fire, or injury when using your GAGGENAU GM 450 720, follow these precautions:

• Read the installation manual carefully and keep it for future reference.

• Observe all safety instructions and warnings.

• Check the appliance for damage after unpacking. Do not connect it if it was damaged in transit.

• Do not repair, replace, or remove any part of the appliance unless specifically recommended in the manuals. All other servicing should be done by an authorized service provider.

• Never modify or alter the construction of the appliance, such as removing leveling legs, panels, wire covers, or anti-tip brackets/screws.

• Remove all tape and packaging before use. Destroy and dispose of packaging in an environmentally responsible manner. Do not allow children to play with packaging material.

• The GAGGENAU GM 450 720 must be mounted at a minimum height of 36″ (914 mm).

To avoid possible exposure to excessive microwave energy with your GAGGENAU GM 450 720, observe the following precautions:

• Do not operate or allow the appliance to be operated with the door open.

• Before activating the microwave source, perform safety checks on: Interlock operation, proper door closing, seal and sealing surfaces for damage, hinges and latches, and evidence of dropping or abuse.

• Before turning on microwave power for service tests, check the magnetron, wave guide, transmission line, and cavity for proper alignment, integrity, and connection.

• Any damaged components in the interlock, monitor, door seal, and microwave generation systems must be repaired, replaced, or adjusted before the appliance is released to the owner.

• A microwave leakage check should be performed on each appliance prior to release to the owner.

The GAGGENAU GM 450 720 is heavy and requires at least two people or proper equipment to move. Hidden surfaces may have sharp edges. Use caution when reaching behind or under the appliance, and wear gloves to avoid cutting fingers on sharp edges during installation.

• The installer should show the owner the location of the circuit breaker or fuse and mark it for easy reference.

• If required by the National Electrical Code (or Canadian Electrical Code), the GAGGENAU GM 450 720 must be installed on a separate branch circuit.

• The installer is responsible for ensuring the installation, connections, and grounding comply with all applicable local codes.

The GAGGENAU GM 450 720 must be grounded to reduce the risk of electric shock. Connect it only to a properly grounded outlet. Improper grounding can result in a risk of electric shock.

• Consult a qualified electrician if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.

Before you begin the installation of your GAGGENAU GM 450 720, prepare the following tools and accessories:

• Pencil

• Measuring tape

• Jigsaw

• Level

• T20 star bit screwdriver

After unpacking, check all included parts for any damage in transit and for completeness of delivery.

Power Requirements:

The outlet must be properly grounded in accordance with all applicable codes. The outlet can be installed in the back wall directly behind the appliance, but ensure the outlet is located outside the cabinet opening.

Location Requirements:

• This appliance is intended to be fully fitted in a kitchen, not used as a tabletop appliance or within a closed cabinet.

• The cabinet must be heat-resistant up to 195°F (90°C), with adjacent cabinet fronts resistant up to 160°F (70°C).

• The junction box must be located outside the built-in niche.

• The cabinet base must be flat and capable of supporting the appliance’s weight.

• The distance from the cabinet cavity to the door panel surface is 1 5/8″ (42 mm).

• Note the overhang for opening drawers next to the appliance.

• For a corner solution, consider a door opening angle of at least 97°.

• Do not install the appliance behind a decorative door or the door of a kitchen cabinet, as overheating may cause a fire.

The dimensions of the GAGGENAU GM 450 720 are as follows:

• Front panel overhang: 1 5/8″ (42 mm)

• Top trim height: 2 1/2″ (63 mm)

The weight of the appliance is as follows:

The cabinet base must be able to support this weight.

1. Carry out cut-out work on the cabinets before inserting the appliance.

2. After making the cut-outs, remove any shavings, as they may impair the function of electrical components.

3. Secure freestanding cabinets to the wall using a standard bracket.

4. Do not cover the ventilation slots and air intake openings.

5. DO NOT obstruct oven vents.

6. Remove the cabinet back panel behind the appliance or provide a sufficient cut-out in the intermediate floor.

7. Maintain a clearance of at least 1 3/4″ (45 mm) between the wall and the cabinet base or the rear panel of the cabinet situated above.

Carrying the appliance by the appliance frame may cause it to bend, as the frame cannot support the weight of the appliance. Do not lift the appliance using the appliance frame. Always lift the appliance at the casing.

The electrical connection of the GAGGENAU GM 450 720 must be carried out by a qualified electrician. The product will only operate when L1 and L2 are powered up simultaneously. This appliance should be installed with a branch circuit breaker to allow L1 and L2 to be powered up simultaneously.

Before installing, turn the power OFF at the service panel and lock it. All connections must comply with local codes.

1. Install a suitable junction box (not furnished).

2. Use an appropriately-sized, UL-listed conduit connector to attach the conduit to the junction box.

3. Connect the red wire from the appliance to the red electrical supply wire (hot wire).

4. Connect the black wire from the appliance to the black electrical supply wire (hot wire).

5. Connect the white neutral wire from the appliance to the white neutral electrical supply wire.

6. Connect the green ground wire from the appliance to the green or bare wire from the home power supply.

Note: If local codes permit grounding through the electrical supply neutral, connect both the white neutral wire and the bare ground wire from the oven to the white neutral electrical supply wire.

The four-wire connection is preferred, but where local codes permit, the three-wire connection is also acceptable. Before installing, turn the power OFF at the service panel and lock it.

1. Connect the red wire from the oven to the red electrical supply wire (hot wire).

2. Connect the black wire from the oven to the black electrical supply wire (hot wire).

3. Connect the white neutral wire from the appliance to the white neutral (not bare or green ground) electrical supply wire.

4. Connect the green ground wire from the appliance to the bare or green ground electrical supply wire.

1. Observe the required clearances for the cabinet cut-out:

• Niche width: 22 1/16″ + 5/16″ (560 +8 mm)

• Niche height: ≥ 18 1/16″ (≥ 458 mm)

• Niche depth: ≥ 21 5/8″ (≥ 550 mm)

• Distance from cabinet floor to bottom of appliance: 17 3/4″ – 5/16″ (450 -8 mm)

2. To ventilate the appliance, the intermediate floor must have a ventilation cut-out.

3. If the tall cabinet has an additional back panel, it must be removed.

4. When installing beside a wall, ensure a minimum clearance of 3 1/8″ (80 mm) for a 97° door opening or 7 7/8″ (200 mm) for a 110° opening.

5. Ensure a clearance of 1 3/8″ (35 mm) between the appliance and the wall.

6. If there is no intermediate floor above, secure the appliance against tipping using two commercially available brackets on both sides of the cabinet.

7. Adjust the white plastic elements on the left and right of the appliance based on cabinet wall thickness:

• For 5/8″ (16 mm) walls, do not remove the elements.

• For 13/16″ (20 mm) walls, remove the white plastic elements.

• For 3/4″ (19 mm) walls, remove the elements, turn them 180°, and refit them.

8. Push the appliance all the way into the built-in cabinet. Do not kink or trap the connector cable.

9. Center the appliance, leaving an air gap of at least 3/16″ (5 mm) between the appliance and adjacent cabinet fronts.

10. Use a spirit level to ensure the appliance is perfectly level.

11. Open the appliance door and secure it to the cabinet using the enclosed screws.

12. Remove the red plastic transport bolt from the upper door catch.

13. Remove any remaining packaging material from the appliance cavity and door.

The adjustable intermediate floor (GA601010) is available for your GAGGENAU GM 450 720. To avoid bending the false floor, do not install it underneath an oven.

Only install the false floor:

• Below a combi-steam oven in the same series.

• Below a microwave in the same series.

• Below a fully automatic coffee machine that you install above an oven in the same series.

• Below a fully automatic coffee machine that you install above a combi-steam oven in the same series.

Do not install the false floor:

• Below an oven.

• Between two fully automatic coffee machines that you want to install vertically stacked.

• Above a combi-steam oven in the same series.

The appliance door is aligned at the factory, but if needed, you can adjust its alignment at the hinge. You cannot adjust the door’s height directly.

1. Pull the appliance out slightly from its built-in cut-out.

2. Undo the two screws on the side of the appliance.

3. Open the appliance door.

4. Turn the hexagon head screwdriver in either direction to correct the appliance height alignment.

5. Tighten the two screws on the side of the appliance.

6. Slide the appliance back into the built-in cut-out.

There are two available opening angles for the appliance door.

1. Pull the appliance out slightly from its built-in cut-out.

2. Slightly loosen the screw on the right-hand side at the very rear of the appliance.

3. Remove the two screws in front of the black plastic element.

4. Slide the black plastic element to the right.

5. Screw the two screws into the holes further to the right on the appliance. The further to the right you position the screws, the smaller the door opening angle. When positioned to the far right, the opening angle is approximately 97°.

Only combine suitable appliances of the same brand and series.

With an Oven:

1. Fit the microwave first, then the oven.

2. When installing beside an oven, ensure appliance doors open in opposite directions.

With a Combi-steam Oven:

1. Fit the microwave first, then the combi-steam oven.

With a Fully Automatic Coffee Machine:

1. Follow installation instructions for both the coffee machine and the false floor.

2. When installing the microwave above a coffee machine, use the intermediate floor or metal bracket.

With a Warming Drawer:

1. Be careful not to damage the warming drawer’s front panel. Before installing the microwave, open the warming drawer, place a cloth over its front panel, and close it for protection.

2. Install the warming drawer first.

3. Follow the installation instructions for the warming drawer.

4. Slide the microwave appliance, on the warming drawer, into the installation cabinet.

1. Turn on power at the breaker.

2. Press the control ring. The display will show the GAGGENAU logo for around 30 seconds and then “Initialization”.

3. Set the language.

4. Follow the information in the installation assistant on the display by pressing or turning the control ring.

5. Select the settings for the “Installation height”.

6. Align the display horizontally or vertically depending on the installation position.

7. Deactivate demo mode.

8. To test the oven, select a heating mode as detailed in the User Manual.

9. Verify that the oven light comes on and the oven begins to preheat.

1. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.

2. Undo the fastening screws.

3. Lift the appliance slightly and pull it out completely.
