What are the important usage guidelines for the FLOMEC TM150-N-LP water meter?

Use TM Series meters like the FLOMEC TM150-N-LP with water and other chemicals that are compatible with the wetted components. Do not use this meter for fuel or incompatible chemicals. Please note that these meters are not legal for trade applications.

TM Series meters are highly sensitive to electrical noise. To ensure accurate readings, they should not be operated within 1 to 2 inches of certain electric motors or other sources of electronic noise.

How should I install the FLOMEC TM150-N-LP meter?

Install your meter in-line either horizontally or vertically, or at the end of the hose adjacent to the nozzle. Installation to metal connections is not recommended. Follow these steps:

1. Plan to install the turbine with a minimum straight pipe length:

• Upstream from the turbine, allow a minimum straight pipe length of 10 times the internal diameter of the turbine.

• Downstream from the turbine, allow a minimum straight pipe length of 5 times the internal diameter of the turbine.

2. For NPT Fittings, wrap all connections with 3 to 4 wraps of thread tape (or use pipe thread sealant). Ensure the tape does not intrude into the flow path.

3. Attach the meter with the arrow pointed in the direction of fluid flow.

4. For NPT Fittings, hand-tighten the meter at the housing ends. Do not use a wrench or a similar tool to tighten, as this can damage the housing.

How do I verify the accuracy of my FLOMEC TM150-N-LP meter before use?

Before using the meter, check its accuracy and verify the calibration by following these steps:

1. Make sure there is no air in the system by starting the flow until it runs steadily. Then, stop or divert the flow using a valve or nozzle.

2. Meter an exact known volume into an accurate container. For the best results, meter with one continuous full stream.

3. Check the volume against the display or recording equipment. If the amount metered is accurate, further calibration is not necessary. If not, refer to the Calibration Section for further instructions.

How do the Batch and Cumulative Totals work on the FLOMEC TM150-N-LP display?

The computer display on your FLOMEC TM150-N-LP maintains two totals:

Cumulative Total (TOTAL 1): This provides a continuous measurement of all fluid that has passed through the meter and cannot be reset manually.

Batch Total (TOTAL 2 BATCH): This total can be reset to measure flow during a single use.

To switch between TOTAL 1, TOTAL 2 BATCH, and FLOWRATE, press the DISPLAY button briefly. To reset the Batch Total, first display the TOTAL 2 BATCH, then hold the DISPLAY button for 3 seconds until it resets to zero.

When fluid is flowing, a small propeller icon will be highlighted on the display. When the Cumulative Total exceeds 999,999, an X10 or X100 icon will appear, indicating that you must add one or two zeros, respectively, to the end of the 6-digit number shown.

How do I use the Flowrate feature on the FLOMEC TM150-N-LP?

To use the flowrate feature, press and release the DISPLAY button until the FLOWRATE icon appears on the screen. The display will then indicate the current rate of flow. The factory-set time base will be highlighted to the right of FLOWRATE (M = minutes, H = hours, D = days).

How do I switch between units of measure (e.g., gallons and litres) on my FLOMEC TM150-N-LP?

While holding the CALIBRATE button, briefly press the DISPLAY button to toggle between gallons (GL) and litres (LT). If your computer has other units of measure programmed, this action will toggle through all available factory-set units, such as imperial gallons (IGL), quarts (QT), or ounces (OZ). Switching between different units will not corrupt the total’s contents; it will convert the existing total to the newly selected unit.

How do I perform a field calibration on my FLOMEC TM150-N-LP?

To perform a field calibration using the correction factor method:

1. Press and hold both the CALIBRATE and DISPLAY buttons for about 3 seconds until you see FLdCAL. Release the buttons, and you will see CF – 00.0. You are now in field calibration mode.

2. The +/- position will be displayed. Use the DISPLAY button to select the position and the CALIBRATE button to toggle this character between plus and minus.

3. Press the DISPLAY button to select the numeric positions. Press the CALIBRATE button to scroll from 0 to 9. Enter the percentage of change (from -99.9% to +99.9%) you want the display to correct.

4. When satisfied with the value, press both the CALIBRATE and DISPLAY buttons simultaneously. CALEnd will be displayed, and the unit will return to normal operation. The FAC (factory calibration) icon will no longer be visible, indicating that the field calibration is active.

5. To return to the factory calibration (FAC), press and hold both CALIBRATE and DISPLAY buttons for about 3 seconds until FACCAL is displayed, then release.

What maintenance is required for the turbine rotor on the FLOMEC TM150-N-LP?

The meter is virtually maintenance-free. However, it is important that the rotor moves freely. Keep the meter clean and free of contaminants.

If the rotor does not turn freely:

• Apply a penetrating lubricant on the rotor, shaft, and bearings.

• Remove any debris or deposits from the rotor using a soft brush or small probe. Be careful not to damage the turbine rotor or supports.

Cautions:

• Blowing compressed air through the turbine assembly could damage the rotor.

• Do not allow liquids to dry inside the turbine.

• Handle the rotor carefully. Small scratches or nicks can affect accuracy.

How do I replace the batteries in my FLOMEC TM150-N-LP meter?

If the display becomes dim, blank, or shows the “LobAtt” message, replace the two 3-volt lithium batteries as follows:

1. Remove the four Phillips-head screws from the face of the meter and lift the faceplate from the turbine.

2. Remove the old batteries and clean any corrosion from the terminals.

3. Install new batteries. Make sure the positive post is in the correct position. Use only the recommended replacement kit (P/N 113520-1) and do not mix old with new batteries.

4. When the batteries are replaced, the faceplate will power ON. Check the display to ensure normal functions have resumed before reassembling.

5. Reseat batteries, if necessary, and position the faceplate on the turbine housing. To avoid moisture damage, make sure the seal is fully seated. Tighten the four screws on the faceplate.

Note: When batteries are removed or lose power, the batch and cumulative totals, as well as the field and factory calibrations, are retained.

What is the pulse output for the FLOMEC TM Series meters?

The output pulse through the cable is a raw pulse. The pulse cable White wire is the signal and the Black wire is common (GND). Some interface devices may not have an internal pull-up resistor; use a minimum 820 ohms resistor if necessary. The typical pulses per gallon vary by meter size:

Meter Size Typ. Pulses per Gallon
TM050 (1/2 in.) 2,400
TM075 (3/4 in.) 1,100
TM100 (1 in.) 570
TM150 (1 1/2 in.) 213
TM200 (2 in.) 100
