What is the intended use of the FLOMEC TM075-LP water meter?

Use the FLOMEC TM075-LP meter with water and other chemicals compatible with its wetted components. Do not use it to meter fuel or incompatible chemicals. The meter provides a local electronic display and a pulse output cable for a digital signal to customer interfacing equipment. Please note that these meters are not legal for trade applications and are very sensitive to electric noise if operated within 1 to 2 inches of some electric motors or other sources of electronic noise.

How should I install the FLOMEC TM075-LP?

You can install your FLOMEC TM075-LP in-line either horizontally or vertically, or at the end of the hose adjacent to the nozzle. Installation to metal connections is not recommended. Follow these steps:

1. Plan to install the turbine with a minimum straight pipe length:

• Upstream from the turbine, allow a minimum straight pipe length of 10 times the internal diameter of the turbine.

• Downstream from the turbine, allow a minimum straight pipe length of 5 times the internal diameter of the turbine.

2. For Spigot (Pipe) End connections, use only primer and solvents approved for PVC gluing.

For NPT Fittings, wrap all connections with 3 to 4 wraps of thread tape (or use pipe thread sealant). Ensure the tape does not intrude into the flow path.

3. Attach the meter with the arrow on the housing pointed in the direction of fluid flow.

4. For NPT Fittings, hand tighten the meter at the housing ends. Do not use a wrench or similar tool, as this can damage the housing.

What are the key safety warnings and cautions when using the FLOMEC TM075-LP?

Please observe the following safety guidelines:

• **WARNING:** Compatibility of the product’s material with the process fluid and/or environment should be considered prior to putting it into service.

• **WARNING:** The product should never be operated outside its published specifications for temperature or pressure.

• **WARNING:** Ensure flow and pressure have been eliminated from the process pipe prior to installing or removing the product.

• **WARNING:** Always use appropriate thread sealant when connecting the product to process piping.

• **CAUTION:** To protect against leakage, seal all pipe threads with an appropriate sealing compound. Make sure the sealing compound does not intrude into the flow path.

• **CAUTION:** Installation near high electromagnetic fields and high current fields is not recommended and may result in inaccurate readings.

How does the output pulse feature work on the FLOMEC TM075-LP?

The output pulse through the cable is a raw pulse. For each rotation of the turbine rotor, a specific number of pulses are transmitted via the attached cable. The pulse cable’s White wire is the signal and the Black wire is common (GND). Some interface devices may not have an internal pull-up resistor; in such cases, use a minimum 820 ohms resistor connected between the White (PULSE) wire and a 5-30 VDC power source (V+).

Pulse amounts can vary depending on pipe/meter size, flowrate, fluid type, etc. The table below provides reference information.

Meter Size Typ. Pulses per Gallon
TM050 2,400
TM075 1,100
TM100 570
TM150 213
TM200 100

How do I verify the accuracy of my FLOMEC TM075-LP?

Before using, check the meter’s accuracy and verify its calibration with these steps:

1. Make sure there is no air in the system by starting the flow until it runs steadily. Then, stop or divert the flow using a valve or nozzle.

2. Meter an exact known volume into an accurate container. For best results, meter with one continuous full stream.

3. Check the volume against the display or recording equipment. If the amount metered is accurate, further calibration is not necessary. If not, refer to the Calibration Section for further instructions.

How do I operate the computer display on the FLOMEC TM075-LP?

The computer on your FLOMEC TM075-LP maintains two totals:

• **Cumulative Total (TOTAL 1):** Provides continuous measurement and cannot be manually reset.

• **Batch Total (TOTAL 2 BATCH):** Can be reset to measure flow during a single use.

Press the DISPLAY button briefly to switch between TOTAL 1, TOTAL 2 BATCH, and FLOWRATE. To reset the Batch Total, press DISPLAY briefly to show TOTAL 2 BATCH, then hold the DISPLAY button for 3 seconds until it resets to zero.

When fluid is flowing, a small propeller icon is highlighted. When the Cumulative Total reaches 999,999, an X10 icon will be highlighted, indicating you must add one zero to the 6 digits shown. On the next rollover, an X100 icon will appear, indicating two zeros must be added.

How do I use the flowrate feature on the FLOMEC TM075-LP?

To use the flowrate feature, press and release the DISPLAY button until the FLOWRATE icon appears on the screen. The display will then indicate the rate of flow. The factory-set time base will be highlighted to the right of FLOWRATE (M = minutes, H = hours, D = days).

How do I change the units of measure on my FLOMEC TM075-LP?

Your FLOMEC TM075-LP is configured with a “factory” calibration (indicated by the FAC icon). Both gallons (GL) and litres (LT) are available. To switch between units:

1. Hold down the CALIBRATE button.

2. While holding CALIBRATE, briefly press the DISPLAY button to toggle between gallons and litres.

Your computer may have other units programmed into it, such as IGL (imperial gallon), QT (quart), CF (cubic feet), CM (cubic meter), BL (42 gal. barrel), CC (cubic centimeter), or OZ (ounce). Holding CALIBRATE and pressing DISPLAY will toggle through all available factory-set units.

Switching between units will not corrupt the total’s contents. For example, if the meter shows 10.00 gallons and you switch to litres, the display will read 37.85 litres.

How do I perform a field calibration on my FLOMEC TM075-LP?

For best results, install and purge the meter of air before calibrating. Dispense at a flowrate that simulates your actual operating conditions. To perform a field calibration using the correction factor method, follow these steps:

1. Press and hold the CALIBRATE and DISPLAY buttons for about 3 seconds until you see “FLdCAL”. Release both buttons, and you will see “CF – 00.0”. You are now in the field calibration mode.

2. The +/- position appears as an “underscore” for plus or a “hyphen” for minus. Press the DISPLAY button to select the position and the CALIBRATE button to toggle this character.

3. Press the DISPLAY button to select the numeric positions. Press the CALIBRATE button to scroll from 0 to 9 for each digit. Enter the percentage of change you want the display to correct (from -99.9% to +99.9%).

4. When satisfied with the value, press both CALIBRATE and DISPLAY buttons simultaneously. “CALEnd” will be displayed, and the unit will return to normal operation. The FAC (factory calibration) icon will no longer be visible.

5. To return to factory calibration (FAC), press and hold both CALIBRATE and DISPLAY buttons for about 3 seconds until “FACCAL” is displayed. Then release the buttons. The unit will return to normal operation, and the FAC icon will be visible.

How do I maintain the turbine rotor on the FLOMEC TM075-LP?

The meter is virtually maintenance-free. However, it is important that the rotor moves freely. Keep the meter clean and free of contaminants.

If the rotor does not turn freely, apply a penetrating lubricant on the rotor, shaft, and bearings. Remove any debris or deposits from the rotor using a soft brush or small probe. Be careful not to damage the turbine rotor or its supports.

• **CAUTION:** Blowing compressed air through the turbine assembly could damage the rotor.

• **CAUTION:** Do not allow liquids to dry inside the turbine.

• **CAUTION:** Handle the rotor carefully. Small scratches or nicks can affect accuracy.

How do I replace the batteries in my FLOMEC TM075-LP?

If the display becomes dim, blank, or the low battery message (“LoBAtt”) appears, replace the two 3-volt lithium batteries. The batch and cumulative totals, as well as field and factory calibrations, are retained when batteries are removed.

1. Remove the four Phillips-head screws from the face of the meter and lift the faceplate from the turbine.

2. Remove the old batteries and clean any corrosion from the terminals.

3. Install new batteries (P/N 113520-1 Kit). Make sure the positive post is in the correct position. Do not mix old with new batteries.

4. When the batteries are replaced, the faceplate will power ON. Check the display to ensure normal functions have resumed before assembling again.

5. Reseat batteries if necessary and position the faceplate on the turbine housing. To avoid moisture damage, make sure the seal is fully seated. Tighten the four screws on the faceplate.

WARNING (Battery): Avoid mechanical or electrical abuse. Batteries may explode or cause burns if disassembled, crushed, or exposed to fire or temperatures in excess of 212°F (100°C). Do not short circuit or install with incorrect polarity. DO NOT INCINERATE.
