What electrical plug and power requirements are needed for the EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2?

The EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 is equipped with two grounded 3-prong NEMA 5-15 plugs. You must connect each plug to a properly grounded NEMA 5-15R outlet. Since it is a dual unit, you will need two 5-15R receptacles.

The appliance should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other appliances to avoid overloading the circuit.

A short power supply cord is provided to reduce hazards. If an extension cord is used, its marked electrical rating must be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over a counter or table where it could be pulled or tripped over.

How do I assemble the basket for the EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2?

Proper basket assembly is very important. Follow these steps:

1. Take the handle, line up the wingscrew with the hole on the handle, and tighten them. Note that the handle should be locked inside the basket.

2. Take two wingscrews and push them through the hole of the metal sheet on the basket.

3. Tighten the nuts on the wingscrew.

4. Make sure the nuts and wingscrew are tight and finished. The basket handle should be securely locked in the right place before use.

What are the operating instructions for the EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 deep fryer?

1. Before using, ensure the electricity supply conforms to the rating markings on the fryer and check that the power cord is not damaged.

2. Always ensure the element cover is in place within the oil tank. It protects the heating element.

3. Add oil to the tank, being mindful of the oil indication marks. The oil level MUST be between the ‘L’ (low) and ‘H’ (high) marks for safe operation.

4. Ensure the fryer is plugged into the socket and that power is switched on. The green power indicator will light up.

5. Rotate the temperature control clockwise to the required setting. A yellow thermostat indicator lights up, showing that the oil is being heated.

6. When the oil reaches the selected temperature, the yellow thermostat indicator goes out. The light will cycle on and off as the thermostat maintains the oil temperature.

7. For frying, lower the basket containing food into the hot oil. When cooked, lift the basket to a draining position by placing the hook located on the basket into the rods on the tank.

8. If the cooking temperature gets too high, an overheat facility will turn the fryer off. This can be reset by allowing the unit to cool and then pushing the reset button on the back (or front) of the fryer.

9. When frying is completed, turn the temperature control to the ‘MIN’ position and turn the power switch off.

10. Unplug the fryer from the mains power when not in use.

How do I clean and maintain my EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 deep fryer?

IMPORTANT: Always unplug the fryer and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Oil can stay hot for 6-7 hours.

1. Make sure the Deep Fryer is unplugged and the oil pan has cooled completely.

2. Remove the night cover.

3. Remove the frying basket from the oil pan.

4. Gently pull up to remove the control panel/heater assembly. Use caution as oil may splash. Wipe the control panel/heater assembly with a damp cloth and dry completely. Do not immerse the control panel/heater assembly in water.

5. Grasp the oil pan handles and slide it up and out of the Deep Fryer body.

6. Carefully strain the oil from the pan into a suitable container. (It is best to work over a sink or garbage can).

Oil Pan Cleaning: Soak in hot, soapy water. Use a stiff nylon brush to remove stubborn or burned-on residue. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning products.

Frying Basket Cleaning: The frying baskets should be hand washed before first use and seasoned in oil before going into the dishwasher for the first time. To season, place the clean, dry, empty basket in the oil and set the temperature to 390°F. When the temperature is reached, remove the basket and allow it to cool. Repeat the procedure. After seasoning, the basket can be placed in a dishwasher.

Body Cleaning: Wash the deep fryer body in hot, soapy water by hand. Dry all parts thoroughly.

IMPORTANT: Make sure the heating element cover and oil pan are completely dry after washing and before use.

How do I empty the used oil from my EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2?

This procedure MUST only be carried out when the oil is COMPLETELY COOL. Hot oil is capable of causing severe burns. Ensure the fryer is unplugged from the mains.

The EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 is a fryer with a detachable oil tank. Follow these steps:

1. When the temperature of the oil cools down, remove the heating element cover, control box and element.

2. Then pour the old oil out of the pot.

3. It is suggested to clean the oil tank and heating element when oil has been removed from it.

What are some helpful hints for frying with the EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2?

General Frying:

• Never over-fill the frying basket with food. Maximum basket capacity is 2/3 full.

• Fry more batches of smaller amounts of food for best results.

• Pre-cooked foods generally require higher temperatures and less cooking time.

• Cut or sort food into uniform sizes to ensure they cook in the same amount of time.

• Dry damp foods and remove ice crystals before placing into oil to avoid spatter foam.

• When using a breading, coat the food evenly. Fine, uniform crumbs stick better. Shake off extra breading to help keep the oil clean.

• To prevent contamination of the oil, do not add salt or spices to the food during frying or while it is draining above the oil.

• Space coated foods so they do not touch while cooking.

• For doughs or battered foods, place them into the basket first and then lower the basket into the hot oil.

Oil Management:

• Never over-fill or under-fill the oil pan. Ensure the oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks.

• Never use hard fats (melt first).

• Never mix different oils together.

• Never use butter or margarine to fry foods.

• If frying fish or seafood, the oil may absorb a “fishy” taste. To avoid transferring this taste to other foods, the oil must be changed.

How do I drain and recycle the cooking oil from my EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2?

WARNING! Allow the Deep Fryer to cool fully before draining and recycling the oil.

1. Frying oil should be filtered and recycled regularly, though it doesn’t need to be changed after every use.

2. Following the cleaning procedures, remove the frying basket and heating element cover.

3. Using a large funnel, filter the cooled oil through a fine sieve into a wide-neck, airtight, covered container.

4. This process can be repeated after 3 or 4 frying sessions without the oil deteriorating.

5. If oil is mainly used for frying potatoes and is filtered after every use, it may be used up to 8 times.

6. As oil absorbs flavors, it’s a good idea to label containers with the type of food that was cooked (e.g., sweet desserts, vegetables, chicken, fish).

NOTE: DO NOT pour used oil down any drain. Discard used oil into a lidded container and dispose of it properly.

What should I do if my EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 overheats and shuts off?

Your EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 is equipped with a temperature safety reset switch that cuts off power if the oil temperature reaches 465°F (240°C). If the unit shuts off, you need to manually reset it.

First, determine and correct the cause. Possible causes include dirty oil, low oil level, or the heating element not being properly submerged in oil.

To reset the temperature safety switch, follow these 4 steps:

1. Wait until the oil has cooled to 300°F (148°C) or below.

2. The reset switch and cover are usually located on the back panel of the unit (for the EF-12L series, it’s on the Front). Remove the switch cover by unscrewing it counterclockwise.

3. Use a pen or similar narrow tool and press the reset button down. The button should stay in the down or “set” position.

4. Place the switch cover back on and secure it by screwing it clockwise.

If the safety reset repeatedly needs resetting during normal use, contact a qualified technician or an authorized dealer.

How does the micro-switch safety feature on the EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 work?

The EGGKITPO EGEF-12L-2 is equipped with a micro-switch as a safety feature. This switch cuts off power to protect you and to prevent the electric heating element from being burned out. It works as follows:

1. When the fryer head is in the correct or down position, the micro-switch is pushed in, and the heating element will be supplied with power.

2. When the fryer head is in the up position or removed from the unit, the switch goes to the “OFF” position and cuts power to the heating element.

For extra safety, always place the fryer head firmly in the right place and make sure that the micro-switch (located on the bottom of the fryer head) is in touch with the main body.
