1. Take two wingscrews and push them through the hole of the metal sheet on the basket.
2. Take the handle, line up the wingscrews with the holes on the handle, and push them through.
3. Tighten the nuts onto the wingscrews. Make sure the nuts and wingscrews are tight and the assembly is finished. Note that the handle should be locked inside the basket.
How do I operate the EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
1. Before first use, ensure the electricity supply conforms to the rating markings on the fryer and check that the power cord is not damaged. You may see smoke coming from the elements when the machine is first switched on; this is normal.
2. Always ensure the element cover is in place within the oil tank. It sits on top of the heating element to protect it.
3. Add oil to the tank. The oil level MUST be between the ‘L’ (low) and ‘H’ (high) marks. DO NOT exceed the ‘H’ mark.
4. Ensure the fryer is plugged into the socket and the power is switched on. The green power indicator will light up.
5. Rotate the temperature control clockwise to the required setting. The yellow thermostat indicator will light up, showing that the oil is being heated.
6. When the oil reaches the selected temperature, the yellow thermostat indicator will go out. The light will cycle on and off as the thermostat maintains the oil temperature.
7. The frying basket is for cooking small food items. Before using, ensure the handle is securely locked in place. Lower the basket containing the food into the hot oil. When cooked, lift the basket to a draining position by placing the hook on the basket into the rods on the tank.
How do I use the timer function on my EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
If you do not want to use the timer function, keep the “TIMER” switch in the “OFF” position.
If you want to use the timer function, follow the steps below:
1. Rotate the temperature control knob to the desired temperature.
2. Turn on the “TIMER” switch.
3. Rotate the timer dial to the desired time. When the time is reached, a “DING” sound will be heard, and the fryer will cut off power automatically. The basket can then be taken out of the oil and hung on the drainage rod on the fryer head.
What should I do after I finish frying with the EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
1. When frying is completed, turn the temperature control anti-clockwise to the ‘MIN’ position and turn the power switch off.
2. Unplug the fryer from the mains power when not in use.
3. The oil must be removed from the fryer and stored elsewhere. This procedure MUST only be carried out when the oil is COMPLETELY COOL. Take caution: Oil can stay hot for 6-7 hours. Ensure the fryer is unplugged from the mains. WARNING: RISK OF SEVERE BURNS. Hot oil is capable of causing severe burns.
4. For the EGEF-101V model, once the oil has cooled down, remove the heating element cover, control box, and element, then pour the old oil out of the pot.
5. It is suggested to clean the oil tank and heating element after the oil has been removed.
How do I clean and maintain my EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
IMPORTANT: Always unplug the fryer from the mains power socket and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Oil can stay hot for 6-7 hours.
1. Make sure your Deep Fryer is unplugged and the filled oil pan has cooled completely.
2. Remove the night cover.
3. Remove the frying basket from the oil pan.
4. Gently pull up to remove the control panel/heater assembly. Use caution as oil may splash. Wipe the control panel/heater assembly with a damp cloth and dry completely. Handle the heating element and assembly with care. CAUTION: Do not immerse the control panel/heater assembly in water.
5. Grasp the oil pan handles. They will slide up and out to allow oil pan removal from the Deep Fryer body.
6. Carefully strain the oil from the oil pan into a suitable container.
7. Oil Pan Cleaning: Soak in hot, soapy water. Use a stiff nylon brush to remove stubborn or burned-on residue. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning products.
8. Frying Basket: The frying baskets should be hand-washed before first use and seasoned in oil before being put in the dishwasher for the first time. To season, place the clean, dry, empty basket in the oil and set the temperature to 390°F. When the temperature is reached, remove the basket and allow it to cool. Repeat the procedure. After seasoning, the basket can be placed in the dishwasher for thorough cleaning.
9. Fryer Body: Wash the deep fryer body in hot, soapy water by hand. Dry all parts thoroughly.
10. IMPORTANT: Make sure the heating element cover and oil pan are completely dry after washing and before use.
What are some helpful hints for frying with the EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
• Never over-fill the frying basket with food. Maximum basket capacity is 2/3 full.
• Fry more batches of smaller amounts of food for best results.
• In general, pre-cooked foods require higher temperatures and less cooking time.
• Cut or sort food into uniform sizes to ensure even cooking.
• Dry damp foods and ensure they are free from ice crystals before placing them in oil to avoid spatter foam.
• When using a breading, coat the food evenly. Fine, uniform crumbs stick better. Shake off all extra breading to help keep the oil clean.
• To prevent oil contamination, do not add salt or spices to the food during frying or while it is draining above the oil.
• Space coated foods so they do not touch while cooking.
• For best results with doughs or foods in liquid batter, place them in the basket first and then lower the basket into the hot oil.
• WARNING! Never, under any circumstances, add water or any other liquid to the oil.
• Never over-fill or under-fill the oil pan. Check that the oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks.
• Never use hard fats (melt first), butter, or margarine to fry foods.
• Never mix different oils together to fry foods.
How should I drain and recycle the oil from my EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
WARNING! Allow the Deep Fryer to cool fully before draining and recycling the oil.
1. Frying oil should be filtered and recycled regularly, although it does not have to be changed after every use.
2. Following the cleaning procedures, remove the frying basket and heating element cover.
3. Using a large funnel, filter the cooled oil through a fine sieve into a wide-neck, airtight, covered container.
4. This process can be repeated after 3 or 4 frying sessions without the oil deteriorating.
5. If oil is mainly used to fry potatoes and is filtered after every use, it may be used up to 8 times.
6. As oil absorbs food flavors, it’s a good idea to label containers with the type of food that was cooked in it (e.g., sweet desserts, vegetables, chicken, fish).
NOTE: DO NOT pour used oil down any drain. Discard used oil into a lidded container and dispose of it properly.
How do I reset the temperature safety switch on the EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
The EGGKITPO EGEF-101V is equipped with a safety switch that cuts off power if the oil temperature reaches 465°F (240°C). This switch has a manual reset located on the back panel of the unit. Possible causes for activation include dirty oil, low oil level, or the element not being properly submerged.
To reset the temperature safety switch, follow these 4 steps:
1. Wait until the oil has cooled to 300°F (148°C) or below.
2. Remove the switch cover by unscrewing it counterclockwise.
3. Use a pen or similar narrow tool and press the reset button down. The button should stay in the down or “set” position.
4. Place the switch cover back on and secure it by screwing it clockwise.
How does the micro-switch safety feature work on the EGGKITPO EGEF-101V?
The EGGKITPO EGEF-101V is equipped with a micro-switch that deactivates the whole unit when the fryer head is removed or not properly placed. This feature protects personal safety and prevents the electric heating tube from burning out.
1. Power ON: When the fryer head is in the correct down position, it pushes in the micro-switch, and the heating element will be supplied with power.
2. Power OFF: When the fryer head is in the up position or removed from the unit, the micro-switch goes to the “OFF” position, which cuts power to the heating element.
Always place the fryer head firmly in the right place and make sure that the micro-switch (located on the bottom of the fryer head) is in touch with the main body.
Why is the power indicator not on when my EGGKITPO EGEF-101V is plugged in?
If the power indicator is not on, there could be two possible causes:
1. The plug is not in the socket properly. To fix this, remove the plug and insert it correctly.
2. The fuse has blown. Replace it with a suitable fuse.
What should I do if the thermostat indicator is not working and my EGGKITPO EGEF-101V is not heating up?
If the thermostat indicator is off and the fryer is not heating, check the following:
1. The safety overheat stat may be activated. Press the safety reset button on the back of the machine. If the safety reset repeatedly needs resetting during normal use, contact a qualified technician or an authorized dealer.
2. The connection to the heating element may be faulty. Contact a qualified technician or an authorized dealer for this issue.
3. The heating element itself is faulty. Contact a qualified technician or an authorized dealer for assistance.
