How do I wear and use a wireless heart rate chest strap with the DYACO SPIRIT 7.0S?

The chest strap transmitter is an optional, separate purchase. Most transmitters operating at 5kHz frequency will work.

1. Attach the transmitter to the elastic strap.

2. Adjust the strap to be as tight as possible without being uncomfortable.

3. Position the transmitter in the middle of your body, with the logo facing away from your chest. Some users may need to position it slightly left of center.

4. Secure the strap around your chest, immediately below the pectoral muscles.

5. Sweat is the best conductor for the signal. You can also pre-wet the electrodes (two black square areas on the reverse side) with plain water. It is recommended to wear the strap for a few minutes before your workout to establish a strong signal.

6. Your workout must be within range of the console to maintain a good, strong, reliable signal.

The transmitter activates automatically when it detects heart activity and deactivates when it doesn’t. Although water-resistant, moisture can create false signals, so dry the transmitter completely after use to prolong battery life (est. 2500 hours). If your strap has a replaceable battery, the replacement is a CR2032.

What should I do if my heart rate reading is erratic on the DYACO SPIRIT 7.0S?

Caution! Do not use the 7.0S for Heart Rate Control unless a steady, solid Actual Heart Rate value is being displayed. High, wild, or random numbers indicate a problem.

Areas to check for interference that may cause erratic heart rate:

1. The Recumbent Stepper is not properly grounded.

2. Microwave ovens, TVs, small appliances, etc.

3. Fluorescent lights.

4. Some household security systems.

5. A perimeter fence for a pet.

6. Some people have issues with the transmitter picking up a signal from their skin. Try wearing the transmitter upside down.

7. The receiving antenna is very sensitive. If there is an outside noise source, turning the whole machine 90 degrees may de-tune the interference.

8. Another individual wearing a transmitter within 3 feet of your machine’s console.

If you continue to experience problems, contact your dealer.

How should I care for and clean my DYACO SPIRIT 7.0S?

Post-Workout Machine Care

Wipe down all areas in the sweat path with a damp cloth after each workout. If a squeak, thump, or clicking develops, it is likely due to one of two reasons:

1. Hardware was not sufficiently tightened during assembly. All bolts should be tightened as much as possible, possibly requiring a larger wrench.

2. The crank arm nut needs to be retightened. If noise persists, check that the unit is properly leveled using the 14mm wrench on the leveling pads on the rear stabilizer.

General Care

1. Store your machine according to the instructions when not in use.

2. Use a slightly damp cloth to clean areas where sweat or oil made contact.

3. Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen and remove oils and other damaging substances.

4. Avoid leaving paper or small debris in the cupholders.

How do I troubleshoot error messages and power issues on the DYACO SPIRIT 7.0S?

Error Messages

EEPROM Error: The solution is to replace the console. This is the only error message.

Motor Error: This means the resistance motor did not respond as expected. Press stop to enter idle mode. The console can still be used, but there will be no resistance changes. Try disconnecting the power for one minute and reconnecting. If this does not solve the problem, call for service.

No Power

• Make sure the A.C. outlet has power (90-240VAC) and the line cord is plugged securely into the AC adapter.

• Check the connection of the DC power wire where it enters the 7.0S.

• Make sure all connectors in the back of the console are securely seated.

Console Programs Do Not Start

• Perform the Keypad test in Maintenance mode.

• If you cannot access the test and the keys seem to have no effect, the keypad has malfunctioned.

How do I troubleshoot operational issues with the DYACO SPIRIT 7.0S?

Program starts but no data registers when pedaled:

• Check that connectors are properly seated in the back of the console.

• Perform the Sensor tests in Maintenance mode. If one sensor doesn’t work, it needs replacement. If both don’t work, it could be a bad console or both sensors are bad.

Symmetry measurement is incorrect:

• Perform the sensor tests in Maintenance Mode.

Pedal resistance seems harder/different than before:

• Check the watts per level setting in the Set Up menu. The factory default is 5 watts per level.

Cannot adjust seat or seat adjustments will not lock:

• Adjust the thumb nuts at the rear of the seat adjustment levers. If the cables have stretched, the latch may not disengage or engage properly. Adjusting the thumb nut can remedy this.

Clicking noise when pedaling:

• Make sure the pedal is tightened properly.

• Make sure the swing arms are securely tightened where they attach to the 7.0S.

• Check that the leveling feet on the bottom of the 7.0S are adjusted properly.

One pedal has no resistance but the other does:

• The drive cable has jumped off the pulley system.
