Before you begin the installation, please follow these steps:

• Disconnect the negative battery terminal. If you are unsure, consult a qualified technician for instructions.

• Avoid installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, such as from direct sunlight, or where it would be subject to dust, dirt, or excessive vibration.

Follow these steps for a typical DIN installation:

Step 1: Insert the mounting sleeve into the installation kit or dashboard.

Step 2: Bend multiple mounting tabs around the mounting sleeve until the mounting sleeve is secure.

Step 3: Connect all wiring harnesses and slide the head unit into the mounting sleeve until it clicks into place.

To install the DUAL XDM17BT using the ISO mounting method, use the existing brackets or the brackets supplied with your installation kit. Mount the brackets to the sides of the head unit with the screws supplied with the head unit.

The wire connections for the DUAL XDM17BT are as follows:

• BLUE (Remote Turn-On): Connect to amplifier or power antenna. Insulate the wire if it is not used.

• BLACK (Ground): Connect to vehicle chassis ground.

• RED (Accessory): Connect to an existing ignition circuit or a switched 12-volt source.

• YELLOW (Memory): Connect to the battery circuit or a constant 12-volt source.

• Right Front Speaker: Gray (+) and Gray/Black (-)

• Right Rear Speaker: Violet (+) and Violet/Black (-)

• Left Front Speaker: White (+) and White/Black (-)

• Left Rear Speaker: Green (+) and Green/Black (-)

When replacing the fuse, ensure the new fuse is the correct type and amperage. Using an incorrect fuse could damage the radio. The DUAL XDM17BT uses one 10 amp ATM fuse located beside the Heat Sink.

The controls on the front panel are:

1. Power: Turns the unit on or off.

2. Mute: Silences the audio.

3. Voice Control: Activates Siri or Google Assistant.

4. Volume Knob: Adjusts volume and accesses audio/menu functions.

5. Bluetooth Talk: Answer/end calls.

6. USB Port: For connecting a USB device.

7. Auxiliary Input: 3.5mm input for external audio sources.

8. Reset: Resets the unit to factory settings.

9. Preset 6 / Folder Up: Radio preset 6 or next folder in USB mode.

10. Preset 5 / Folder Down: Radio preset 5 or previous folder in USB mode.

11. Preset 4 / Random: Radio preset 4 or toggle random playback.

12. Preset 3 / Repeat: Radio preset 3 or toggle repeat playback.

13. Preset 2 / Intro: Radio preset 2 or toggle intro scan.

14. Preset 1 / Play/Pause: Radio preset 1 or play/pause media.

15. Mode: Switches between Radio, USB, Auxiliary, and Bluetooth modes.

16. Band/Display: Switches radio bands or changes display information.

17. Tune Up: Tunes to a higher frequency or skips to the next track.

18. Tune Down: Tunes to a lower frequency or skips to the previous track.

The remote control buttons and their functions are:

1. Mode: Selects the source mode.

2. Volume Up: Increases the volume.

3. Power: Turns the unit on or off.

4. Audio: Accesses audio settings.

5. Tune Up: Tunes up frequency or skips to the next track.

6. Volume Down: Decreases the volume.

7. Band: Selects the radio band.

8. Preset 3 / Repeat: Radio preset 3 or repeat track/folder.

9. Preset 2 / Intro: Radio preset 2 or intro scan.

10. Preset 6 / Folder Up: Radio preset 6 or next folder.

11. Mute: Silences the audio.

12. AS/PS: Auto store/preset scan for radio stations.

13. Preset 5 / Folder Down: Radio preset 5 or previous folder.

14. Preset 4 / Random: Radio preset 4 or random playback.

15. Preset 1 / Play / Pause: Radio preset 1 or play/pause media.

16. Bluetooth Talk: Answer/end calls.

17. Tune Down: Tunes down frequency or skips to the previous track.

• Power On/Off: Press the power button to turn the unit on. Press it again to turn the unit off.

• Changing Modes: Press MODE to select between Radio, USB, Auxiliary Input, and Bluetooth.

• Volume: Adjust the volume using the volume knob (range 00-43).

• Mute: Press the Mute button to silence the audio. Press it again to resume listening at the previously selected volume.

• Auxiliary Inputs: Insert a 3.5mm cable into the unit’s front AUX port.

• Reset: Press the RESET button (located on the front panel) to reset the unit to factory settings if abnormal operation occurs.

1. With the unit on, press DISP to display the clock time.

2. Press and hold DISP until the hours begin to flash, then release.

3. Press the TUNE up or TUNE down buttons to adjust the hours.

4. Press DISP again. The minutes will begin to flash.

5. Press the TUNE up or TUNE down buttons to adjust the minutes.

6. Press DISP momentarily to save the selected time.

Press the DISP button to toggle the display between various displayed information.

• Audio Functions: Press the volume knob momentarily to select between audio functions.

• Menu Functions: Press and hold the volume knob for more than two seconds to select between the menu functions.

Once a function is selected, rotate the volume knob left or right to adjust or activate the desired function/audio.

• Seek Tuning: Press TUNE up or down to seek to the previous or next strong station.

• Manual Tuning: Press and hold TUNE up or down to enter manual tuning mode. Then, press TUNE momentarily to change the radio frequency up or down one step at a time. Press and hold TUNE to advance quickly.

• Band Selection: Press BAND to select between FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and AM2 bands.

• Storing Presets: Up to 18 FM and 12 AM stations can be stored. To store a station, select the desired band and station. Press and hold the desired preset button (1-6) for more than two seconds. When stored, the preset number will appear in the display.

• Recalling Presets: Preset stations can be recalled any time by pressing the corresponding preset button (1-6).

• Automatically Store: Press and hold AS/PS for more than 2 seconds to automatically store 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations.

• Preset Scan Stations: Press AS/PS to recall each preset station that is stored in the memories in each band.

• Playing MP3 Files: To play MP3 files, insert a USB device containing MP3 files.

• Track Select: Press TUNE up to skip to the beginning of the next track. Press TUNE down to skip to the beginning of the previous track.

• Fast Forward and Reverse: Press and hold TUNE up to fast forward or TUNE down to reverse a track.

• Pause: Press the play/pause button to temporarily stop USB playback. Press it again to resume playback.

• Folder Access: Folders can be found by pressing Folder Up or Folder Down. About one second after the folder name is displayed, the first file under the selected folder will be displayed and playback will begin.

• Repeat: Press RPT to toggle between RPT ALL (plays all tracks on USB device), RPT FLR (continuously repeats all files in the current folder), and RPT ONE (continuously repeats the selected track).

• Random: Press RDM to play tracks in random order. Press again to cancel the RDM function.

• Intro: Press INT to play the first 10 seconds of each track. Press again to cancel the INT function.

1. Before using a Bluetooth device, it must be paired and connected. Ensure that Bluetooth is activated on your device before beginning the pairing process.

2. The head unit broadcasts the pairing signal constantly when no devices are connected. Complete the pairing sequence from your Bluetooth device. The device name is “Dual Media Player”.

3. The Bluetooth passcode is “1234”.

Note: The head unit can be in any mode of operation when pairing is performed.

The DUAL XDM17BT supports A2DP wireless streaming audio from a Bluetooth mobile device. The following functions can be used to control the music:

• Press the TUNE up button to skip to the next available audio track.

• Press the TUNE down button to skip to the previous audio track.

• Press the play/pause button to toggle between play and pause during playback.

Use the Dual iPlug P2 Smart App Remote Control on an Apple or Android smartphone to control the receiver via Bluetooth. You can change the mode, station, song, volume, and settings directly from your smartphone without being in the receiver’s line-of-sight. Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install it on your smartphone or tablet.

The DUAL XDM17BT has an easy access voice activation button to use Siri® or Google Assistant™ via your car’s Bluetooth.

1. Ensure your smartphone is paired with the receiver via Bluetooth.

2. Press the voice activation button. The receiver will switch into Bluetooth mode.

3. This will activate Siri® or Google Assistant™ on your smartphone. You can now interact with your smartphone assistant.

4. You will need to manually switch back to the previous or desired mode once this operation is terminated.

Connect an optional audio source into the 3.5mm (front panel) input. Select auxiliary input from the Main Menu to listen to the audio. Adjust the volume on the external audio source as needed (if connected to the headphone output of the device).
