The CUISINART SG6PU seasoning mill includes the following components:

To assemble your CUISINART SG6PU, follow these steps:

1. Place the housing and all removable parts on a clean, flat surface. Ensure all parts are clean and dry.

2. Attach a grinding container to the unit housing. It is best to attach it from the bottom while holding the unit upright.

3. Line up the arrow on the grinding container with the arrow on the unit housing so that both arrows face each other. This indicates proper alignment.

4. Gently push the grinding container and unit housing together until they fit comfortably.

5. Secure the grinding container by twisting it so the arrow on the unit housing aligns with the lock symbol on the grinding container. The two pieces will click together.

6. To attach the second grinding container, flip the unit housing over and repeat the assembly instructions.

Your CUISINART SG6PU is now assembled.

To use the measuring cap on either grinding container of your CUISINART SG6PU, grasp the measuring cap and connect it to the grinding container by aligning the grooves on the cap with the ridges on the container. Press them together until the ridge of the measuring cap rests flat against the grinding container.

NOTE: When not in use, the measuring cap should remain on the uppermost grinding container. The unit housing will not fit into the charging base if the measuring cap is on the lower container.

To assemble the charging base for your CUISINART SG6PU, follow these steps:

1. Place the housing, charging base, and all removable parts on a clean, flat surface after ensuring they are clean and dry.

2. Place the removable grind tray into the charging base so that it fits securely. The grind tray will only fit one way.

3. Connect the power adapter to the charging base by grasping the pin on the adapter and inserting it vertically into the back of the charging base until secure.

NOTE: Do not insert the power adapter into the charging base while the power adapter is plugged into a power source.

To charge your CUISINART SG6PU seasoning mill:

1. Ensure the unit is fully assembled.

2. Grasp the assembled unit securely, making sure it is facing upright (the Cuisinart logo is horizontal and easy to read).

3. Place the assembled seasoning mill into the charging base. The recessed area on the back of the unit housing should fit comfortably with the protrusion on the charging base.

4. Plug the charging base into a power socket. The unit is charging if the red LED on the charging base illuminates. When the unit is fully charged, the LED indicator will change to blue.

NOTE: Before the first use, the batteries must be charged for 12 hours.

To adjust the grind from fine to coarse on your CUISINART SG6PU, use the adjustment dial located on the underside of the mill. Following the arrows on the mill, turn the dial clockwise for a finer grind and anticlockwise for a coarser grind.

1. Assemble the CUISINART SG6PU as detailed in the assembly instructions.

2. Ensure the unit is fully charged.

3. Hold the unit with the end that you wish to grind from facing downwards.

4. Press the On/Off button in the center of the unit housing to begin grinding. Only the bottom container will produce ground spices. Even though the upward-facing container will rotate, no grinding will occur from it.

5. To grind from the other end of the unit, simply flip the unit over.

Your CUISINART SG6PU is equipped with NiMH batteries. Before the first use, the batteries must be charged for 12 hours. If the batteries run down completely, it will take between 8 and 12 hours to fully recharge them. A full charge provides up to 20 minutes of running time.

CONTINUOUS CHARGING

The unit is designed so that the batteries may remain on a continuous charge. It is recommended to keep the Seasoning Mill charger plugged into a wall socket so the mill is always ready to use. Use only the charger provided with the appliance.

HOLDING THE CHARGE

The batteries hold most of their charge even when not plugged in, losing only about 30% of their total charge per month.

If, after repeated use, the run time of your CUISINART SG6PU seems to get shorter and it has less power, you can improve its battery capacity. Remove the plug from the wall outlet and continue to use the mill until it is fully discharged and stops operating. Then, plug the base back into the wall outlet and recharge the unit for 12 hours or overnight for a full new charge. This procedure should be repeated once every 2-3 months to ensure optimum performance.

The CUISINART SG6PU should be switched off and unplugged before cleaning, refilling, or when not in use for a prolonged period.

• Clean the mill and base by wiping all parts with a damp cloth and drying them thoroughly. Do not expose the appliance to moisture.

• Do not use detergents to clean it.

• To clean the grinding chambers, unlock the container, remove it, and wash it with warm soapy water. Dry thoroughly before replacing.

• Never use moist or wet spices in the mill, as this will clog the grinding mechanism. Use only store-bought dried spices.

• N.B. Never immerse the full appliance in water, any other liquid, or place it in a dishwasher.

To clear a peppercorn that is stuck in the grinding wheel of your CUISINART SG6PU, you can try either of these methods:

• Turn the mill upside down and shake it gently while pressing the On/Off power button.

• Turn the mill upside down, position the grind selector to coarse, then hold it over a plate and grind until the peppercorn is dislodged.

Sometimes, grinds can become lodged between the metal spindle in the grind containers and the main power unit, causing the CUISINART SG6PU to not function. To dislodge these grinds, remove each of the removable grind containers in turn and shake the main power unit to release any loose grinds. There is no need to empty the containers. Once cleared, replace the grind containers and use the mill as normal.

Always follow these safety cautions when using the CUISINART SG6PU:

• The appliance is intended for domestic use only.

• This appliance contains non-replaceable batteries.

• This appliance contains rechargeable batteries which must be removed before discarding the appliance.

• This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep the appliance, power adapter, and charging base out of reach of children.

• Do not use the appliance if the lead is damaged. If damaged, discontinue use immediately and it must be replaced by the manufacturer.

• For recharging the battery, only use the detachable charging supply unit provided (model YLJXA-U065018).

• Always inspect the appliance for damage before use. Do not use if damaged or dropped.

• The supply terminals are not to be short circuited.

• The charger should be plugged into an electrical socket away from a sink or hot surface. Do not use an extension cord or an outdoor socket.

• To protect against electrical shock, do not put the main unit in water or other liquids. If it falls into liquid, remove it immediately, then clean and dry the unit thoroughly.

• The product should be switched off and unplugged before cleaning, removing/attaching grinding containers, or handling any moving parts. It should also be unplugged if not being used for a prolonged period.

• CAUTION: Polythene bags around the appliance or its packaging can be dangerous. To avoid suffocation, keep these bags out of reach of babies and children.
