When using your CUISINART RHB100U, please follow these important safeguards:

1. Read all instructions.

2. To protect against electric shock, do not put the power handle in water or other liquids. If the power handle falls into liquid, remove it immediately. Carefully remove, clean and dry unit thoroughly before continuing.

3. This appliance should not be used by children. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children.

4. The blue indicator lights will flash to indicate the appliance is ready to operate. Avoid contact with moving parts at all times.

5. Before assembling, disassembling, or cleaning, ensure the unit is off and the motor/blade/attachment has stopped completely.

6. Keep hands, hair, clothing, as well as spatulas and other utensils away from attachments and mixing container during operation to prevent injury to persons and/or damage to the appliance.

7. A spatula may be used, but must be used only when the unit is not operating.

8. When mixing liquids, especially hot liquids, use a tall container or make small quantities at a time to reduce spillage, splattering and possibility of injury from burning.

9. Blades are SHARP. Handle carefully. Always handle blades with your hand away from the cutting edge. Always store blades with the cutting edge away from you.

10. When mashing, be sure to always have liquid in the food you are mashing for optimal results.

11. Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use.

12. Be certain the attachment is securely locked in place before operating the appliance. Do not attempt to remove attachment while unit is running.

13. To reduce the risk of injury, never place cutting blade on base unless attachment is properly assembled.

14. Do not use outdoors or for commercial purposes.

15. To prevent damage to the power cord, do not let it hang over the edge of a table or counter.

16. Do not operate your appliance in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet.

17. For cordless appliances: Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting to the battery pack, picking up or carrying the appliance.

Before using your CUISINART RHB100U for the first time, it is recommended to:

1. Charge the hand blender until all 3 blue battery indicator lights are illuminated. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours.

2. Read all instructions completely for detailed operating procedures.

3. Wipe the power handle with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust. Clean the attachments in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. All attachments are top-rack dishwasher safe.

The batteries in your CUISINART RHB100U Cordless Hand Blender have not been fully charged. Before the first use of this appliance, the batteries must be charged until all 3 blue battery indicator lights are illuminated. A full charge will take approximately 2 hours. Your hand blender will be fully charged when all 3 battery life indicator lights are solid blue.

To charge your hand blender, plug the small end of the charging cord into the port below the speed control on the power handle. Plug the cord into the adapter and the adapter into a mains power socket. The battery life indicator lights will flash blue while charging. When all three lights are solid blue, the unit is fully charged.

The battery life of your CUISINART RHB100U is indicated by the three blue light indicators:

• When all 3 lights are illuminated, the battery capacity is between 95% and 100%.

• When 2 lights are illuminated, the battery capacity is between 60% and 95%.

• When 1 light is illuminated, the battery capacity is less than 60%.

• When the light is flashing, the battery capacity is less than 30% and the unit needs recharging.

Your CUISINART RHB100U will provide approximately 20 minutes of runtime on a full charge, depending on the load. The unit is equipped with a ‘quick charge’ feature; 15 minutes of charging gives 25 seconds of runtime, 30 minutes gives 1 minute 45 seconds, and 60 minutes gives 5 minutes 45 seconds.

To assemble the attachments for your CUISINART RHB100U:

Blending Shaft Attachment:

Align the power handle with the blending shaft and push the two pieces together until you hear and feel them click. The arrow on the attachment should align with the unlock symbol on the power handle.

Whisk Attachment:

The whisk attachment has two parts: the gearbox and the whisk. Assemble the whisk by pushing it into the hole on the bottom of the gearbox until it clicks into place. Then, align the assembled whisk attachment with the power handle and push them together until they click.

Masher Attachment:

The masher attachment has two parts: the gearbox and the mashing leg. Align the mashing leg with the gearbox by twisting until the tabs align. Push the leg down and twist clockwise to lock it into place. Then, align the assembled masher attachment with the power handle and push them together until they click.

To operate your CUISINART RHB100U, follow these steps:

1. To unlock the unit, press the unlock/lock button once. The blue indicator light will illuminate.

2. Press and hold the power button to begin operation. If the power button is not pressed within 30 seconds of unlocking, the unit will automatically re-lock.

3. To turn the unit off, simply release the power button. The motor will stop. The unit will automatically re-lock after 30 seconds of inactivity.

4. To manually re-lock the unit, press the unlock/lock button once.

Your CUISINART RHB100U has a variable speed control at the top of the handle. To adjust the speed, turn the dial clockwise to increase speed and counter-clockwise to decrease speed.

Here are some tips for using the blending attachment on your CUISINART RHB100U:

• The specially designed blade guard helps prevent splashing. Always be sure the blade guard is fully submerged before pressing the power button.

• For best results when blending, use a gentle up-and-down motion.

• To make a smooth and creamy soup, use the blending attachment to purée the soup solids to the desired consistency. Reheating the soup after blending can cause some ingredients to separate; be careful not to boil.

• When mixing liquids, especially hot liquids, use a tall container or make small quantities at a time to reduce spillage and splattering.

• The hand blender is perfect for frothing milk for cappuccinos and lattes.

• Do not let the hand blender stand in a hot pot on the stove when not in use. Always take it out of the pot.

• The blending attachment can easily whip mayonnaise. You can also make your own flavoured mayonnaises.

• When blending in non-stick pans, be careful not to scratch the coating with the hand blender.

When using the whisk attachment with your CUISINART RHB100U, follow these tips:

• Use the whisk attachment for whipping cream and egg whites.

• For best results when whipping cream, only whip up to 225ml of cream at a time in the beaker provided. For smaller quantities, use a smaller container like a mug.

• Start at a low speed. As the mixture thickens, increase the speed. Be careful not to over-whip; if you are not careful, you will make butter.

• For whipping egg whites, ensure the beaker and whisk are scrupulously clean and dry. Any trace of fat will prevent the egg whites from whipping up properly. Whisk on a medium-high speed until you reach the desired consistency.

• The whisk can also be used for emulsifying vinaigrettes and mixing light batters like for tempura or Yorkshire puddings.

• Do not immerse the whisk gearbox in water or any other liquid.

The masher attachment on your CUISINART RHB100U is designed to mash cooked vegetables and soft fruits like potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, parsnips, swede, carrots, apples, and bananas.

When using the masher, follow these steps:

1. It is not designed for uncooked or hard foods which could damage the attachment.

2. Before mashing, ensure the food is well cooked and thoroughly drained. There should be some liquid in the pan or bowl from cooking, or you may want to add some butter, milk, or cream. Do not attempt to mash without any liquid as this will put a strain on the appliance.

3. Start on a low speed and increase as required. Move the masher up and down within the mixture until you achieve the desired smooth consistency.

4. Stop mashing as soon as you have a smooth, lump-free consistency. Over-mashing can release starch from the potatoes which will make them gluey.

Always clean your CUISINART RHB100U thoroughly after each use. All attachments are top-rack dishwasher safe, but do not put the power handle in the dishwasher.

Power Handle:

Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge dampened with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners that could scratch the surface. To clean, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth and dry completely before storing. Never submerge the power handle in water or other liquids.

Blending Shaft:

To clean, you can either wash by hand in warm soapy water or place in the top rack of the dishwasher. If washing by hand, be careful around the sharp blade.

Whisk:

To clean the whisk, release it from the gearbox by pulling the two sections apart. To clean the gearbox, simply wipe with a damp cloth. To clean the whisk, wash with warm, soapy water or place in the top rack of the dishwasher. Never immerse the gearbox in water or other liquids.

Masher:

To clean the masher, release the leg from the gearbox by twisting anti-clockwise and sliding off. To clean the gearbox, simply wipe with a damp cloth. The mashing leg can be washed in warm, soapy water or placed on the top rack of the dishwasher. Never immerse the gearbox in water or other liquids.

Beaker:

The beaker is top-rack dishwasher safe. You may also wash the beaker by hand in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly before storing.
