To operate your CUISINART CPK17BPU kettle, follow these steps:
1. Open the lid by pressing the lid release button located on the top of the handle.
2. Fill the kettle with the required amount of cold water. The water gauge at the rear is marked with min (0.5L), max (1.7L), 2 cup, and 4 cup markers. N.B. Do not exceed the max mark as this may cause spitting or leaking from the spout when boiling.
3. Push the lid closed; you will feel and hear a slight click.
4. Align the kettle over the powerbase and gently lower it into position, ensuring it is sitting firmly on the base.
5. Plug the kettle into the mains; the current water temperature will be shown on the display (to the nearest 5 degrees, e.g., 20°C).
6. Press the 85°C button for coffee or green/white tea, or the 100°C button for black or herbal teas. The selected temperature button will illuminate, and the temperature will flash in the LCD window.
7. To manually set the temperature, press the ‘+’ button. This increases the temperature in 5-degree increments from 85°C up to 100°C.
8. Press the On/Off switch to start boiling. A beep will sound for 1 second, and the back light on the water indicator level will illuminate. N.B. If you press the on/off switch without setting a temperature, the kettle will default to 100°C.
9. The temperature can be changed anytime during boiling by pressing a preset button or manually adjusting. If you select a temperature lower than the current water temperature, the kettle will switch off immediately and beep 5 times.
10. When the kettle reaches the selected temperature, it will beep 5 times and switch off. The water indicator back light will also switch off, but the LCD back light will remain on for 10 minutes. You can switch the kettle off at any time by pressing the On/Off button.
11. Once boiled, carefully lift the kettle off the powerbase and pour the water. N.B. Do not open the lid when pouring or during heating, as escaping steam may scald.
12. If the kettle is removed from the base before it automatically switches off, it will not continue to boil and will need to be reset.
N.B. When the unit is not in operation for 1 minute, it will switch into ECO stand-by mode.
