You may hear certain sounds during the normal operation of your Hisense AW0621CR1W air conditioner. These sounds are normal and do not indicate a problem:

Gurgle/Hiss: A “gurgling or hissing” noise may be heard due to refrigerant passing through the evaporator during normal operation.

Sound of Rushing Air: At the front of the unit, you may hear the sound of rushing air being moved by the fan.

High Pitched Chatter: The high-efficiency compressor may have a high-pitched chatter during the cooling cycle.

Vibration: The unit may vibrate and make noise because of poor wall or window construction or incorrect installation.

Pinging or Switching: Droplets of water hitting the condenser during normal operation may cause “pinging or switching” sounds.

To operate your Hisense AW0621CR1W using the control panel, follow these instructions. Note that the lights next to the touch pads will indicate the selected settings.

POWER: Press the POWER pad to turn the unit on or off.

MODE: Press the MODE pad to cycle through the operating modes: Cool, Dry, Fan Only, and Energy Saver.

TEMP (Up/Down Arrows): Use these pads to set the temperature when in Cool Mode. The temperature can be set between 61°F (16°C) and 86°F (30°C).

FAN SPEED: Press the FAN SPEED pad to select the fan speed. You can choose from High, Med, or Low in Cool mode, and High, Med, or Low in Fan Only mode.

TIMER: Use the TIMER pad to set an automatic on or off time. To set a delay OFF, press the Timer pad while the unit is on and use the Temp Up/Down arrows to select the time. To set a delay ON, press the Timer pad while the unit is off and use the Temp Up/Down arrows to select the time. The timer can be set from 0.5 to 24 hours.

ENERGY SAVER: Press this pad to activate the Energy Saver mode. In this mode, the fan will cycle on and off with the compressor to save energy. The fan will run for 3 minutes after the compressor shuts off.

FILTER CHECK: The CHECK FILTER light will illuminate after 250 hours of operation as a reminder to clean the air filter. After cleaning, press the CHECK FILTER pad to reset the light.

SLEEP: Press the SLEEP pad to activate Sleep mode. In Cool mode, the set temperature will increase by 2°F 30 minutes after the mode is selected, and another 2°F after an additional 30 minutes. This new temperature is maintained for 7 hours before returning to the originally selected temperature.

To Change Temperature Display (°F/°C): Press and hold the Temp Up and Temp Down pads together for 3 seconds to toggle the display between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

Step 1. Press and slide the battery cover on the back of the remote control.

Step 2. Insert two “AAA” batteries, ensuring the (+) and (-) symbols on the batteries match those inside the battery compartment.

Step 3. Slide the battery cover back into place.

The Hisense AW0621CR1W is designed for installation in standard double-hung windows with the following dimensions:

Window Width: 23 to 36 inches (584 mm to 914 mm)

Window Opening Height (minimum): 13 inches (330 mm)

The lower sash must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 13 inches (330 mm).

You will need the following tools for installation:

• Phillips Head Screwdriver

• Drill (if pilot holes are needed)

Step 1: Install the Top Rail

Align the hole in the top rail with the ones on top of the unit and secure it with the 3/8″ screws provided.

Step 2: Install the Accordion Panels

Slide the left and right accordion panels into the top and bottom rails of the air conditioner. Make sure to insert the panel with the marking “L” on the left side and “R” on the right side.

Step 3: Place the Unit in the Window

Open the window and place the air conditioner in the center. Close the window securely behind the top rail of the unit. The unit should be installed with a slight tilt down and to the outside (about 3° to 4°). This is necessary for proper water drainage.

Step 4: Secure the Accordion Panels

Extend the accordion panels to fill the window opening. Use the 3/4″ screws to secure the panel frames to the window sill and window sash.

Step 5: Install the Sash Lock and Foam Seal

Screw the sash lock with a 3/4″ screw on top of the bottom window to secure it. Then, trim the foam top window gasket to the window’s width and stuff it between the glass and the window to prevent air and insects from getting into the room.

If a storm window frame prevents the Hisense AW0621CR1W from tilting properly for drainage, you can add a piece of wood to the sill. The wood piece should have a depth of at least 1 1/2 inches. Secure the wood strip to the sill behind the storm window frame. The width should be long enough to fit inside the window frame. The top of the wood strip should be about 3/4″ higher than the storm window frame to allow for proper drainage.

For a thru-the-wall installation, a wooden frame is required. The opening and dimension of the wooden frame should be:

Inside width: 19 inches

Inside height: 13-5/8 inches

Frame thickness: This will depend on wall thickness. The louvers on the side and top of the unit must not be covered.

Installation Steps:

Step 1. Build a wooden frame with the inside dimensions listed above.

Step 2. Cut an opening in the wall slightly larger than the wooden frame.

Step 3. Install the wooden frame into the wall opening, ensuring it is level and has a slight downward tilt to the outside for drainage. Secure the frame to the wall.

Step 4. Remove the top rail and accordion panels from the air conditioner.

Step 5. Slide the air conditioner into the frame. Ensure the unit is tilted back about 3° to 4° for proper drainage.

Step 6. Secure the bottom of the unit to the wooden frame using two 1″ long wood screws through the holes in the cabinet bottom.

Step 7. Install the front panel onto the unit.

Step 8. Caulk all around the interior and exterior to seal any gaps.

The air filter should be checked at least once a month to see if cleaning is necessary. Trapped particles in the filter can build up and cause an accumulation of frost on the cooling coils. To clean the filter:

Step 1. Open the front grille by pulling on the indents on both sides.

Step 2. Grasp the filter by the center and pull up and out.

Step 3. Wash the filter using liquid dish soap and warm water. Rinse the filter thoroughly.

Step 4. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure the filter is thoroughly dry before replacing it.

Step 5. You may also vacuum the filter clean instead of washing it.

After cleaning, press the Check Filter pad to reset the reminder light.

To clean the air conditioner cabinet:

• Unplug the air conditioner to prevent shock or fire hazards.

• The cabinet and front may be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.

• Never use harsh cleaners, wax, or polish on the cabinet front.

• Be sure to wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around the controls. Excess water in or around the controls may cause damage to the air conditioner.

If you plan to store the Hisense AW0621CR1W during the winter, carefully remove it from the window according to the installation instructions. Cover it with plastic or return it to the original carton for storage.

If your Hisense AW0621CR1W will not operate, check the following:

• Make sure the air conditioner is plugged in securely. The plug should be pushed all the way in.

• Check if the house fuse is blown or the circuit breaker is tripped. Replace the fuse with a time-delay type or reset the breaker.

• Check if the power supply cord is tripped. Press the RESET button located on the plug head.

• The unit may be in its 3-minute start-up protection mode. Wait 3 minutes for the unit to restart.

If the air from your Hisense AW0621CR1W is not cold enough, consider these possible causes:

• The room may have been hot. Allow time for the air conditioner to cool the room, especially after first turning it on.

• The air filter may be dirty. Clean the filter.

• The temperature setting may be too high. Set the temperature to a lower setting.

• Airflow may be restricted. Check for curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking the front of the air conditioner and ensure there are no obstructions outside.

• The cooling coils might be dirty. Clean them if necessary.

• Doors, windows, and registers may be open, allowing unconditioned air into the room.

• The unit may have recently been turned on or moved from a hot room.

If your Hisense AW0621CR1W is freezing up, it may be due to ice blocking the airflow and stopping the unit from cooling the room. To resolve this:

Step 1. Set the mode to Fan Only.

Step 2. Set the fan speed to High.

This should melt the ice and restore normal operation.

It is normal for water to drip outside from your Hisense AW0621CR1W in hot or humid weather. The unit is designed to use some of this water to cool the condenser coils, which is an energy-efficient feature.

If water is dripping inside, it is likely because the Hisense AW0621CR1W is not tilted to the outside correctly. The air conditioner must be installed with a slight downward tilt to the outside to provide proper drainage. Re-check the installation to ensure the correct tilt.

If the remote control is not working, please check the following:

• Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly.

• The batteries may be dead. Please replace them with new ones.

If the room becomes too cold, the set temperature may be too low. Increase the set temperature on the control panel or remote control. This may also happen if the temperature sensor is touching the cold coil, which can be corrected by bending the sensor away from the coil.
