7. WARNING: The speakers must be properly secured in the vehicle. Improper installation may lead to permanent injury or death. Installation of the speakers must be done with great care by qualified personnel, to prevent damage to fuel lines, power and other electrical wiring, hydraulic brake lines, and other systems that might compromise vehicle safety.

8. Use speaker wire of sufficient size to ensure adequate current to the speaker. For EPIC Series Speakers, this typically means 14-18 gauge speaker wire.

9. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required if the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as damaged input terminals, objects falling into the apparatus, abnormal operation, or if it has been dropped.

10. Exposure to high sound pressure levels may lead to permanent hearing loss. Take every precaution to protect your hearing.

*Sensitivity is shown in both 2.83V/1m and 1W/1m. Since 2.83 V equals 1 W into an 8 Ω speaker but 2 W into a 4 Ω speaker, this gives a reliable way to compare speakers, no matter the impedance.

The power handling is determined by the crossover points at which the driver is used.

Power Handling Capabilities based on Crossover Points:

1. Enhanced bass/midbass – 80 Hz HPF, 12 dB slope, 175 W RMS

2. Warm midbass, high volume – 150 Hz HPF, 12 dB slope, 225 W RMS

3. Powerful midrange, max volume – 200 Hz HPF, 12 dB slope, 250 W RMS

The frequency response graph details the bandwidth in which the AUDIOCONTROL EPICPRO8X operates. This graph will help you determine the crossover settings for your midrange drivers on your amplifier, as well as their integration with additional tweeters and subwoofers in your system.

• First, determine where the speaker will be mounted. Next, make sure the area has a flat surface for the speaker to mount.

• Check the mounting depth of the desired location using the specified mounting dimensions for your speaker.

• If the speaker will be mounted in a door, roll the windows up/down and lock/unlock the doors, making sure there are no obstructions that the speaker will hit.

• Using the cut out template, mark the location for the speaker to be mounted.

• With the tool of your choice, cut out the marked hole.

• After the speaker has been wired, place the speaker into the hole. Use the supplied mounting hardware to keep the speaker in place.

The speaker terminals are identified by their size:

• Large speaker terminal = positive (+)

• Small speaker terminal = negative (-)

You can configure your AUDIOCONTROL EPICPRO8X speakers for different impedance levels as follows:

• 4Ω Load: Wire a single speaker directly to the amplifier channel.

• 2Ω Load: Wire two speakers in parallel. Connect the positive terminal of the first speaker to the positive terminal of the second speaker. Connect the negative terminal of the first speaker to the negative terminal of the second speaker. Then connect the paralleled positive and negative leads to the amplifier channel.

• 4Ω Load (with four speakers): Wire two pairs of speakers in series, and then wire those two series pairs in parallel. This configuration maintains a 4Ω load for the amplifier channel.
