Push the smart key button to operate the answer-back function. The beeper will sound twice and the turn signal lights will flash twice, helping you locate your vehicle.

To turn the answer-back beeper on or off:

1. Turn the smart key on and bring it within operating range.

2. Turn the main switch to “OFF”, then push the main switch knob once.

3. Within 9 seconds, push and hold the knob again for 5 seconds.

Activating the System:

0–1000 km (0–600 mi):

Avoid prolonged operation above 1/3 throttle.

NOTICE: After 1000 km (600 mi) of operation, be sure to replace the engine oil and final transmission oil.

1000–1600 km (600–1000 mi):

Avoid prolonged operation above 1/2 throttle.

1600 km (1000 mi) and beyond:

The vehicle can now be operated normally.

NOTICE: If any engine trouble occurs during the break-in period, immediately have a Yamaha dealer check the vehicle.

Follow these steps to start the engine on your YAMAHA NVX GDR155:

1. Turn the main switch on.

2. Confirm the indicator and warning light(s) come on for a few seconds, and then go off.

3. Close the throttle completely.

4. While applying the front or rear brake, push the start switch ” “.

5. Release the start switch when the engine starts, or after 5 seconds. Wait 10 seconds before pressing the switch again to allow battery voltage to restore.

NOTICE: For maximum engine life, never accelerate hard when the engine is cold!

To check the engine oil level:

3. Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle. Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick, wipe it clean, insert it back into the hole without screwing it in, then remove it again to check the level. The oil should be between the tip of the dipstick and the maximum level mark.

4. If the oil is low, add enough recommended oil to raise it to the correct level.

5. Insert the dipstick and tighten the filler cap.

To change the engine oil and clean the oil strainer:

1. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, then turn it off.

2. Place an oil pan under the engine.

3. Remove the oil filler cap and engine oil drain bolts A and B. When removing drain bolt B, the O-ring, compression spring, and oil strainer will fall out. Take care not to lose them.

4. Clean the engine oil strainer with solvent and check for damage.

5. Install the strainer, compression spring, new O-ring, and drain bolt B.

6. Install drain bolt A with its new gasket. Tighten both bolts to the specified torque: 20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft).

7. Refill with the specified amount of recommended engine oil (0.90 L / 0.95 US qt) and tighten the filler cap.

8. Start the engine and check for leaks. If oil is leaking, turn the engine off immediately and find the cause.

9. Turn the engine off, re-check the oil level, and correct if necessary.

10. Reset the oil change tripmeter.

If your smart key is lost, damaged, or has a discharged battery, you can still turn on your YAMAHA NVX GDR155-A and start the engine using the emergency mode. You will need your smart key system identification number for this procedure.

1. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and turn the main switch to “OFF”.

2. Push the main switch knob for 5 seconds until the smart key system indicator light flashes once, then release it. Repeat this two more times. After the third time, the indicator light will come on for three seconds to indicate the transition to emergency mode.

3. After the indicator light goes off, you need to input the identification number.

4. Inputting the number is done by counting the flashes of the indicator light. For example, if your ID is 123456:

• Push and hold the knob. The indicator light will start to flash.

• For the first digit “1”, release the knob after the light flashes once. The first digit is now set as “1”.

• Push and hold the knob again. For the second digit “2”, release the knob after the light flashes twice.

• Repeat this procedure for all digits of the identification number.

5. If the correct ID number was entered, the smart key system indicator light will flash for 10 seconds. While the indicator is on, push the knob once more to complete emergency mode access. The light will go off and then come back on for approximately 4 seconds.

6. While the indicator light is on, turn the main switch to “ON”. The vehicle can now be operated normally.

TIP: If you make a mistake (e.g., allow it to flash nine or more times, take more than 10 seconds between inputs, or enter the wrong number), emergency mode will be terminated. The indicator light will flash quickly for 3 seconds. In this case, start over from step 2.

WARNING: Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine and radiator are hot. Scalding hot fluid and steam may be blown out under pressure, which could cause serious injury. Be sure to wait until the engine has cooled.

If your YAMAHA NVX GDR155 engine is overheating, follow this troubleshooting chart:

1. Wait until the engine has cooled.

2. Check the coolant level in the reservoir and radiator.

• If the coolant level is OK: Start the engine. If the engine overheats again, have a Yamaha dealer check and repair the cooling system.

• If the coolant level is low: Check the cooling system for leakage.

– If there is leakage: Have a Yamaha dealer check and repair the cooling system.
