To connect your TRISTAR SM-6000 to a power source, get the adaptor (no. 15) and the foot pedal (no. 16) and follow these steps:

1. Connect plug “A” to the machine and plug “B” into the wall outlet.

2. Turn on the power switch to “ON”.

3. Connect the foot control “C” to the machine.

4. The speed of the machine can be regulated by applying pressure to the foot controller. The sewing light will turn on when the main switch is set to “ON”.

To avoid electrical shock, always turn the power to the “off” position before inserting or changing the needle on your TRISTAR SM-6000. Change the needle regularly, especially if it shows signs of wear. To insert a new needle, follow these steps:

1. Turn the handwheel (no. 11) to raise the needle to its top position.

2. Loosen the needle clamp screw (no. 7).

3. Insert the new needle with the flat side facing towards the back. Insert the needle as far up as it will go.

4. Tighten the needle clamp screw again.

To take out the old needle, simply loosen the needle clamp screw and remove it.

The twins needle on the TRISTAR SM-6000 is suitable for sewing two straight stitches in parallel. To use it:

1. Take out the single needle.

2. Put in the twins needle.

3. Put two bobbins onto the winding thread guide.

4. Two threads are separately inserted into the two pinholes of the twins needle. Other steps are the same as threading the single needle.

Note: The twins needle is only suitable for straight stitches.

To install the upper thread on the TRISTAR SM-6000, follow these steps:

1. Put the bobbin on the bobbin winder and guide the thread over the winding thread guide from right to left.

2. Push the thread tension release bar (A) to the left, then guide the thread down between the tension discs, making sure the thread is inserted into the tension disc.

3. Continue to draw the thread down and around the thread pulling bar fixed holder spring (B) from left to right.

4. Draw the thread up, through the take-up lever (C) from left to right.

5. Continue to draw the thread down through the upper guide (D) from front to back.

6. Draw down the thread and through the lower guide from back to front, then continue to draw down the thread through the thread protector (E).

7. Finally, thread the needle from front to back. This is an important step.

To insert or remove the lower bobbin on the TRISTAR SM-6000, the needle must be fully raised.

1. Turn the hand wheel (no. 11).

2. Pull out the plastic transparent cover (no. 9).

3. Insert the bobbin in the bobbin case, so that the thread runs in a clockwise direction.

4. Replace the transparent cover.

5. Raise the presser foot. Hold the upper thread with your left hand.

6. With your right hand, turn the handwheel anticlockwise until the needle is raised.

7. When the needle reaches the bottom, the hook tray will hook the upper thread. Rotate the hook tray to pull the lower thread out.

8. Pull the lower and upper thread under the presser foot (no. 8), pulling out about 10 cm to the back.

To wind a bobbin on your TRISTAR SM-6000, follow these instructions:

1. Place a yarn pin on the spool pin (no. 1).

2. Guide the thread through the winding thread guide (no. 2) to the empty bobbin.

3. Place the bobbin winding pin (no. 18) on the machine.

4. Wind the thread several times clockwise onto the empty bobbin and place it on the bobbin winding pin.

5. Turn the hand wheel (no. 11) clockwise until the thread is tightened.

6. Start the electric winding by pressing the foot control.

7. When the bobbin is full, release the foot pedal, cut the thread, and then remove the bobbin.

Reverse sewing is suitable for fastening the seam when you start or finish to avoid loose stitches. To use this feature on the TRISTAR SM-6000:

1. Stop the machine first.

2. Press the reserve sewing lever (no. 10), and the machine will sew in reverse.

3. Release the reserve button, and the machine will recover to sewing forward.

The reverse trace should not be longer than 5 cm.

To release the fabric from the TRISTAR SM-6000:

1. Set the needle at the highest position by turning the hand wheel (no. 11) anticlockwise.

2. Raise the presser foot (no. 8) and remove the fabric by pulling it backwards.

3. Cut the threads by using the thread cutter (no. 6) at the side of the machine.

To sew with your TRISTAR SM-6000:

1. Turn the pattern selector (no. 4) to the stitch you need. There are three kinds of straight stitches.

2. Set the needle at the highest position by turning the hand wheel anticlockwise.

3. Gently pull both threads (about 10 cm) towards the rear.

4. Raise the presser foot (no. 8) and place the fabric under it.

5. Gently press down the foot pedal (no. 16) to start sewing. Guide the fabric gently by hand.

6. Stop the needle in its top position, and the thread can be pulled out easily.

7. Raise the presser foot (no. 8) and remove the fabric.

Note: When turning the pattern selector, ensure the needle tip is in the upper position, otherwise it will be bent, damaged, or fail to sew. When selecting the pattern, set the position correctly to avoid hurting the needle or sewing over the selected stitch trace.

For a correct stitch on the TRISTAR SM-6000, the upper and lower threads should be even. You can adjust the upper thread tension by turning the thread tension dial. Switch it from left to right. Use this dial to get the two threads even.

When using the TRISTAR SM-6000, please follow these important safeguards:

• Do not allow the product to be situated underneath or close to curtains, window coverings, etc.

• This appliance is for household use only and for the purpose it is made for.

• The appliance must be placed on a stable, level surface.

• This is an attended appliance and should never be left ON or whilst hot without adult supervision.
