What are the important safety warnings for operating the TOSHIBA TRST-P2?

To ensure personal safety while handling or maintaining the TOSHIBA TRST-P2, please adhere to the following warnings:

Power and Electrical Safety:

• Do not use voltages other than the voltage (AC) specified on the rating plate, as this may cause fire or electric shock.

• Do not plug in or unplug the power cord plug with wet hands as this may cause electric shock.

• Provide an exclusive outlet for the machine. If the printer shares an outlet with other appliances that consume large amounts of power, the voltage will fluctuate widely, which may cause the printer to malfunction.

• Do not insert or drop metal, flammable, or other foreign objects into the printer through the ventilation slits, as this may cause fire or electric shock.

• Do not scratch, damage or modify the power cords. Also, do not place heavy objects on, pull on, or excessively bend the cords, as this may cause fire or electrical shock.

• When unplugging the power cord, be sure to hold and pull on the plug portion, not the cord. Pulling on the cord may cut or expose the internal wires and cause fire or electric shock.

• Ensure that the equipment is properly grounded. Extension cables should also be grounded to prevent fire or electric shock.

Operational Safety:

• Do not place metal objects or water-filled containers (like flower vases, pots, or mugs) on top of the printer. If metal objects or spilled liquid enter the machine, this may cause fire or electric shock.

• If the printer is dropped or its cabinet is damaged, first turn off the power, disconnect the power cord, and then contact your authorized TOSHIBA TEC representative for assistance.

• If the printer produces smoke or strange smells, immediately turn off the power, disconnect the power cord, and contact an authorized representative.

• If foreign objects (metal fragments, water, liquids) enter the printer, turn off the power, disconnect the power cord, and contact an authorized representative for assistance.

• Do not remove covers, or attempt to repair or modify the machine yourself. You may be injured by high voltage, very hot parts, or sharp edges inside the machine.

What are the general precautions for using the TOSHIBA TRST-P2?

To ensure your TOSHIBA TRST-P2 continues to function correctly, please follow these precautions:

• Avoid locations with adverse conditions such as: temperatures outside the specification, direct sunlight, high humidity, excessive vibration, or dust/gas.

• Avoid using the printer on the same power supply as high voltage equipment or equipment likely to cause mains interference.

• The cover should be cleaned by wiping with a dry cloth or a cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent solution. NEVER USE THINNER OR ANY OTHER VOLATILE SOLVENT on the plastic covers.

• USE ONLY TOSHIBA TEC SPECIFIED paper.

• DO NOT STORE the paper where it might be exposed to direct sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity, dust, or gas.

• Ensure the printer is operated on a level surface.

• Any data stored in the memory of the printer could be lost during a printer fault.

• Unplug the machine whenever you are working inside it or cleaning it.

• Keep your work environment static-free.

• Do not place heavy objects on top of the printer, as these items may become unbalanced and fall, causing injury.

• Do not lean against the machine. It may fall on you and could cause injury.

• Be careful not to injure yourself with the printer paper cutter.

• Unplug the machine when it is not used for a long period of time.

How do I load a new receipt roll into my TOSHIBA TRST-P2?

WARNINGS:

• The print head becomes very hot while printing. Never touch the print head to avoid getting burned. The standard operating temperature of the printer is 5°C to 50°C. Do not operate out of range for safe operation.

• Hazardous moving cutter. Keep fingers and other body parts away.

Loading Procedure:

1. Turn the printer power ON by connecting to the power supply.

2. Pull up the Cover Open Lever to open the printer cover.

3. Check for the correct orientation of the receipt roll and place it inside the printer.

4. Pull the receipt paper until it extends past the paper outlet for about 5 cm.

5. Close the printer top cover gently. The printer will automatically perform an auto cut.

CAUTIONS after loading:

• Use only TOSHIBA TEC specified paper to avoid shortening the print head and cutter life or causing poor print quality.

• Do not subject the thermal receipt roll to water, oil, or heat, as this will darken the paper.

• Load the receipt roll in the correct orientation to avoid a paper jam.

• Be careful not to damage the print head and platen when the cover is open.

• Do not open the printer cover while the printer is printing.

• Do not hold the receipt while the printer is printing, as this may cause a paper jam.

• When closing the printer cover, do not press it down too hard.

• Do not put anything on the printer cover or push the cover too strongly, as this may cause a print failure.

How should I position or mount my TOSHIBA TRST-P2?

Your TOSHIBA TRST-P2 can be positioned in several ways:

i. Table Top – Horizontal orientation

The printer can be set on or near the POS terminal. Ensure there is enough room to open the receipt cover for changing the paper roll. The paper will exit from the top.

ii. Table Top/Under Counter – Vertical orientation

The printer can be mounted vertically. The paper will exit from the front, making it suitable for placement under a counter.

iii. Wall Mounted

CAUTION: Wall mounting must be performed by a qualified and professional installer familiar with building construction methods and local codes.

1. The installer must assess the wall’s suitability and determine if additional bracing is needed.

2. The screws are not included and must be supplied by the installer. Flat head metallic screws are required.

3. Mount the printer to a flat, sturdy, structurally sound column or wall surface, following all applicable building and electrical codes.

4. To fix the printer securely, install the screws on a wall made of wood, concrete, or metal. The wall thickness should be 10 mm (0.4”) or more. Use flat head metallic tapping screws.

5. Ensure the mounting height is 2 meters and below.
