The STIHL CM 12.0 is designed to supply electrical power to up to twelve STIHL AL chargers on one circuit. The appliance automatically switches the connected chargers on and off to manage the electrical draw on the circuit. It is designed for use only with genuine STIHL AL series chargers. Using other electrical equipment may result in lower performance or damage to your equipment.

The STIHL CM 12.0 manages electrical load by prioritizing specific outlets. Power outlets 1 to 3 are supplied with power first. Power outlets 4 to 12 receive power only when the total electrical draw does not exceed 12 amps.

Follow these steps to set up the STIHL CM 12.0:

Step 1. Connect the power supply plug with the socket on the appliance.

Step 2. Insert the plug at the other end of the power supply cord into a properly installed electrical outlet matching the appliance’s rating plate.

Step 3. Position the cords so they will not be stepped on, tripped over, or damaged by sharp objects.

Step 4. Insert the plug of a charger into a power outlet on the appliance. Do not use more than one charger per outlet.

Step 5. Mark each charger and its power supply cord with a cable marker to identify the unit when plugged in.

STIHL recommends connecting the following for optimum performance:

– 6 STIHL AL 301-4 chargers to charge STIHL AP series batteries.

– 6 STIHL AL 501 chargers to charge STIHL AR series batteries.

The operating status LED on the STIHL CM 12.0 indicates the following states:

– Flashing green: The appliance is running a self-test.

– LED is off: The appliance is waiting for operation or all charging processes are completed.

– Solid green: At least one charging process is in progress.

– Solid red or flashing red: There is a fault.

For transporting the STIHL CM 12.0:

– Disconnect it from the electrical outlet and remove all chargers.

– Wrap the power supply cord.

– Secure it in a vehicle to prevent turnover, impact, and damage.

For storing the STIHL CM 12.0:

– Disconnect from the outlet and wrap the cord.

– Store indoors in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.

– Never hang the appliance by its power supply cord.

To care for the STIHL CM 12.0:

– Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.

– Keep the housing and electrical contacts free from foreign matter.

– Clean as necessary with a dry cloth or soft, dry brush.

If the LED flashes red and connected chargers are not supplied with power, it may be due to high temperatures, or voltage/frequency fluctuations. Wait until the temporary malfunction is resolved by the appliance itself. If the appliance has switched the outlets off, wait 5 minutes. If outlets remain off, disconnect chargers from those outlets and wait until they are switched on again.

A solid red LED indicates a malfunction in the appliance. Follow these steps:

Step 1. Disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet.

Step 2. Wait 30 seconds.

Step 3. Insert the plug back into an electrical outlet.

Step 4. If the LED continues to glow red, have the appliance checked by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
