After opening the package for your SONY WF-C710N, check that all of the following items are included:

Note: M-sized earbud tips come attached to the left and right headset units at the time of purchase. The size of the earbud tips can be determined based on the number of dotted lines inside the bottom of the earbud tips (XS: 1 line, M: 3 lines, XL: 5 lines).

To wear your SONY WF-C710N headset correctly, follow these steps:

1. Put the headset units into your ears. Put the headset unit with the L-mark into your left ear and the headset unit with the R-mark into your right ear. The left headset unit has a tactile dot. Be careful not to touch the touch sensor when you put the headset units into your ears.

2. Adjust the fit of the headset units to your ears. Twist the headset unit to slide the earbud tip deep into your ear canal.

For proper sound quality, volume, noise canceling, and call quality, ensure the earbud tips fit correctly. If the sizes do not match or the headset is not worn correctly, taps may not work properly. Try changing the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly, trying sizes in order from larger to smaller.

To replace the earbud tips on your SONY WF-C710N:

1. Remove the earbud tip. Hold the headset unit and twist the earbud tip while rotating it to pull it out. Do not pinch the end of the earbud tip when removing it.

2. Attach the earbud tip. Push the earbud tip firmly onto the sound conduit (sound output tube) on the headset so that the earbud tip covers the inner end of the sound conduit. Do not attach the earbud tip in a loose or skewed manner.

If the earbud tip is not completely attached, it may be removed from the headset, and the sound quality, noise canceling effects, and wearability may be impaired.

The main actions for the touch sensors on the SONY WF-C710N are as follows. To operate, tap the center of the touch sensor with the pad of your index finger. When tapping multiple times, do so quickly with an interval of about 0.3 seconds between taps.

Follow these steps to charge your SONY WF-C710N headset and charging case:

1. Set the headset units into the charging case. Put the left headset unit back into the left hole and the right headset unit back into the right hole. Each unit will be set to the correct position by the built-in magnet. The charging starts on the headset. Close the charging case lid.

2. Connect the charging case to an AC outlet. Use the supplied USB Type-C cable and a commercially available USB AC adaptor. Charging starts on both the headset and charging case. The indicator on the charging case lights up in orange. After charging is complete, the indicator turns off.

You can check the remaining battery charge of your SONY WF-C710N in several ways:

Using the Charging Case Indicator:

When you open or close the lid, or remove the USB cable after charging, the indicator lights up to show the remaining battery charge:

• Lights up in green for about 6 seconds: Headset charge is 91% or higher, or charging case charge is 21% or higher.

• Lights up in orange for about 6 seconds: Headset charge is between 1% and 90%, or charging case charge is between 6% and 20%.

• Turns off: Headset charge is less than 1%, or charging case charge is less than 5%.

When you remove the headset units from the case, the indicator shows the remaining charge of the charging case. If it lights up orange, the charge is between 5% and 20%. If it does not light up, the charge is less than 5%.

With Voice Guidance:

If the headset battery is low, you will hear “Low battery”. When the battery is empty, you will hear “Battery is empty”, and the headset will turn off automatically.

On Your Smartphone:

• On an iPhone (iOS 13 or later) or Android smartphone (OS 8.1 or later) connected via HFP, you can see the headset’s remaining battery charge on the screen.

• You can also check the remaining battery charge of the headset unit and the charging case with the “Sound Connect” app.

The indicator light on the SONY WF-C710N charging case shows various statuses:

Charging Status:

• Lights up in orange: The headset or charging case is charging.

• Lights up in orange for about 1 minute, then turns off: The battery is fully charged when charging starts.

• Turns off: Charging is complete.

• Repeatedly flashes twice in orange at 1-second intervals: Charging temperature is abnormal.

• Repeatedly flashes slowly in orange at 0.5-second intervals: A charging error has occurred.

• Repeatedly flashes 3 times in orange at 1.3-second intervals: The left and right headset units are paired incorrectly.

Bluetooth Connection Status:

• Repeatedly flashes twice in blue: The headset is in pairing mode.

• Flashes 10 times in blue: The connection process is completed.

Other Statuses:

• Repeatedly flashes in orange for up to 5 seconds: The headset is ready to begin the reset or initialization process.

• Flashes 4 times in green: The initialization process is complete.

Note: A 5-minute charge provides about 1 hour of music playback. Usage hours may differ depending on settings and conditions.

The general procedure to pair your SONY WF-C710N headset for the first time or with a new device is as follows:

1. Check the headset status. If you are pairing for the first time after purchase or after initializing the headset, proceed to step 2. To pair an additional device, proceed to step 3.

2. For the first pairing, remove both headset units from the charging case. The headset turns on and enters pairing mode automatically. You will hear a “Pairing” voice guidance. Proceed to step 4.

3. To pair a second or subsequent device, set the headset units into the charging case. With the lid open, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the case for about 5 seconds. The indicator on the case will repeatedly flash blue twice in a row, and the headset will enter pairing mode.

4. On your device (smartphone or computer), turn on Bluetooth and search for available devices.

5. Select [WF-C710N] from the list of detected devices.

6. If a Passkey (or Passcode, PIN code) is required, enter “0000”.

7. The headset and device will pair and connect. You will hear a notification sound indicating the connection is established.

To control the noise canceling and ambient sound features on your SONY WF-C710N, use the touch sensor on the left headset unit.

1. Put the headset units into your ears. When you use the headset for the first time, the noise canceling function is enabled automatically.

2. Tap the touch sensor on the left headset unit to change the settings. Each time you tap, the function switches as follows:

• Ambient Sound Mode enabled: You will hear a notification sound. This allows you to hear surrounding sounds through the built-in microphones.

• Noise canceling function enabled: You will hear a notification sound. This function generates an antiphase sound to reduce surrounding noises.

You can customize the settings and switching pattern using the “Sound Connect” app.

The Quick Attention Mode allows you to quickly listen to ambient sound, such as train announcements, by turning down music, call sounds, and the ringtone.

• To activate: Hold your finger to the touch sensor on the left headset unit. The mode is active only while you are touching the sensor.

• To deactivate: Release your finger from the touch sensor.

You can manage calls on your SONY WF-C710N using the touch sensor on either the left or right headset unit.

• To answer an incoming call: When you hear a ring tone, tap the touch sensor twice quickly (with an interval of about 0.3 seconds).

• To reject an incoming call: Hold your finger to the touch sensor for about 2 seconds or more.

• To end a call: Tap the touch sensor twice quickly.

• To cancel an outgoing call: Tap the touch sensor twice quickly.

• To start a voice dial or activate a voice assistant (Google/Siri): During standby or music playback, hold your finger to the touch sensor on the right headset unit for about 2 seconds or more.

Yes, the SONY WF-C710N supports a multipoint connection, allowing it to be simultaneously connected to 2 devices via Bluetooth. This allows you to:

• Listen to music from one smartphone while waiting for an incoming call on either of two connected smartphones.

• Switch music playback between the two devices without performing a Bluetooth reconnection.

To connect to 2 devices simultaneously:

1. Pair the headset with each of the 2 devices respectively.

2. Operate the first device to establish a Bluetooth connection with the headset.

3. Operate the second device to establish a Bluetooth connection with the headset.

When an incoming call arrives, a ring tone is heard via the headset. If a call comes to the second device while you are on a call with the first, you will hear a ring tone for the second device.

If your SONY WF-C710N cannot be turned on or operated, reset the headset. This procedure retains pairing information and other settings.

1. Set the headset units into the charging case. Leave the charging case lid open.

2. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the charging case for about 20 seconds or more. After about 15 seconds, the indicator on the charging case will flash in orange for about 5 seconds. Do not release your finger while the indicator is flashing orange.

3. Check that the indicator turns off and then release your finger. The headset will be reset.

If the headset does not operate correctly even after resetting, initialize it. This procedure resets volume and other settings to the factory defaults and deletes all pairing information.

1. Set the headset units into the charging case. Leave the charging case lid open.

2. Press and hold the initialize button (the same as the reset button) on the back of the charging case for about 15 seconds or more. After about 15 seconds, the indicator on the charging case flashes in orange for about 5 seconds.

3. Release your finger within 5 seconds after the indicator on the charging case starts flashing in orange. When initializing is complete, the indicator on the charging case flashes in green 4 times.

After initializing, you will need to delete the pairing information for the headset from your connected device and then pair them again.

The SONY WF-C710N headset has a water resistance rating of IPX4, but the charging case is not water resistant. If the headset units get wet, follow these steps to dry them:

1. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe off any water that gets on the headset units.

2. Remove the earbud tips, turn the sound conduits (sound output tubes) downward, and shake several times to get the water out.

3. Turn the microphone part or air hole part downward and gently tap it about 20 times on a dry cloth to remove any water collected inside.

4. Leave the headset to dry at room temperature.

Important: If the headset units are charged while they are wet with water or sweat, the charging ports will corrode. Before charging, wipe off any moisture with a soft dry cloth and leave to dry at room temperature. Malfunctions resulting from water immersion caused by customer misuse are not covered by the free warranty.

If you have any problems with your SONY WF-C710N, please follow this process:

1. Set the headset units into the charging case, close the charging case lid once, then open it again and remove the headset units from the charging case.

2. Restart the device being connected, such as your computer or smartphone.

3. If the problem persists, reset the headset.
