You can register up to nine FTP servers on your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A. To register a server:

1. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [Server Setting] → [Server 1] (or another available server slot).

2. Select each setting item and input the required information using the on-screen keyboard.

• **Display Name:** A name for the server.

• **Destination Settings:** Host Name (or IP address), Secure Protocol (FTPS), Root Certificate Error setting, and Port number.

• **Directory Settings:** Specify a destination directory, the directory hierarchy ([Standard] or [Same as in Camera]), and what to do if a file with the same name exists ([Overwrite] or [Does Not Overwrite]).

• **User Info Settings:** Input the [User] name and [Password] for the FTP server.

3. Select [OK] to save each entry.

To select a registered server for transfer, navigate to the [Server Setting] menu and choose the desired server.

After connecting the camera to a network, enable the FTP transfer function by going to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [FTP Function] → [On].

About the connection status:

• When a connection is established, the FTP icon will appear on the recording standby or playback screen.

• If the connection fails, the FTP icon will appear orange. To check the error, go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [Display FTP Error Info.].

You can transfer images from the SONY FTP ILME-FX3A in the following formats:

• **Still Images:** JPEG, HEIF, or RAW format.

• **Movies:** XAVC HS, XAVC S, or XAVC S-I format.

While an FTP transfer is active on your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A, you can still:

• Record and play back still images/movies.

• Press the shutter button halfway to switch from the transfer screen to the recording screen.

• Select [Close] on the transfer screen to go to the playback screen.

• Return to the transfer screen from recording or playback via the MENU or a custom key assigned to the [FTP Transfer] function.

• Turn the camera off. The transfer will automatically resume the next time the camera is turned on.

To transfer multiple images at once from your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A, first set MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [FTP Function] to [On]. Then, follow these steps:

1. Go to MENU → (Playback) → [Playback Target] → [Select Playback Media] → and choose the desired memory card slot.

2. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [FTP Transfer].

3. Specify the scope of the transfer by setting the following criteria:

• Target Group: [This Date], [This Folder], or [This Media].

• Still Images/Movies: [All], [Only Still Images], or [Only Movies].

• Target Img (Rating): Select a specific rating.

• Target Movie (S): [All] or [Only Shot Mark Mov.].

• Target Img (Protect): [All] or [Only Protected Img.].

• Transfer Status: [All], [Only Non-transfer], or [Only Failed Transfer].

4. Select [OK] and press the center of the control wheel.

5. Select [OK] again to start the image transfer.

You can check the image transfer status by looking at the icons on the playback screen of your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A:

• **FTPQ:** FTP transfer underway

• **LFTPO:** FTP transfer complete

• **FTP:** FTP transfer failed

To automatically transfer images as you shoot them with your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A, first enable the FTP function. Then follow these setup steps:

1. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [Auto FTP Transfer] → [On].

2. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [Auto FTP Target].

3. Specify the target for automatic transfer:

• **Still Image:** All still images are transferred automatically.

• **Movie:** You can select from [All] (all movies are transferred) or [Only Shot Mark] (only movies to which you have added Shot Marks are transferred).

If the camera cannot connect to the FTP server, it will automatically transfer the images once the connection is recovered.

You can assign the single-image FTP transfer function to a custom key for quick access on your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A. First, ensure the main FTP function is enabled.

1. Go to MENU → (Setup) → [Operation Customize] → [Custom Key Setting].

2. Assign the [FTP Trans. (This Img.)] function to a desired custom key.

3. During playback, display the image you want to transfer and press the assigned custom key to start the transfer.

Note: Group view images and images not registered in the image database cannot be transferred this way.

To check the results of your FTP transfers on the SONY FTP ILME-FX3A:

1. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [Display FTP Result] → select the desired memory card slot.

2. The results screen will show:

• **No. of Scs. Trn. Img.:** Number of successful FTP transfer files.

• **No. of Fail. Trn. Img.:** Number of failed FTP transfer files.

To delete this history, select [Reset] on the result screen.

On your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A, you can specify which file format gets transferred when shooting in a dual format.

1. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [RAW+J/H Transfer Target].

2. Select one of the following options:

• **JPEG & HEIF:** Transfers only the JPEG or HEIF file.

• **RAW:** Transfers only the RAW file.

• **RAW+J & RAW+H:** Transfers both the RAW file and the JPEG/HEIF file.

You can choose to transfer low-bit-rate proxy movies, high-bit-rate original movies, or both from your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A.

1. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [Px Transfer Target].

2. Select your desired setting:

• **Proxy Only:** Transfers only the proxy movies.

• **Original Only:** Transfers only the original movies.

• **Proxy & Original:** Transfers both the proxy and the original movies.

The FTP Power Save function helps conserve battery by cutting the network connection when not actively transferring files. To configure it on your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A:

1. Go to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [FTP Power Save].

2. Choose a setting:

• **On:** The camera connects to the network only during an FTP transfer. The connection is automatically cut if there is no transfer activity for a certain time.

• **Off:** The camera always stays connected to the network.

When using secure FTP (FTPS), a root certificate is needed to verify the server. To update the certificate on your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A:

1. Save the root certificate file to the root directory of a memory card. The file must be in PEM format and named “cacert.pem”.

2. Insert the memory card into Slot 1 of the camera.

3. Go to MENU → (Network) → [Network Option] → [Import Root Certificate] → [FTP Function] → [OK].

The camera will read the file from the memory card and update its internal root certificate. Do not remove the memory card during this process. Resetting network settings will also reset the root certificate.

To reset all network settings on your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A to their factory defaults, go to MENU → (Network) → [Network Option] → [Reset Network Set.] → [Enter].

The SONY FTP ILME-FX3A allows you to save FTP settings to a memory card and load them onto the same or another camera of the same model. This is useful for configuring multiple cameras quickly.

Navigate to MENU → (Network) → [FTP Transfer] → [FTP Transfer Func.] → [Save/Load FTP Settings].

• **Save:** Saves the current FTP settings to a file on the memory card in Slot 1. You can name the file and set a password for security.

• **Load:** Loads settings from a file on the memory card in Slot 1. You will need to enter the password if one was set. The camera will restart to apply the settings.

• **Delete:** Deletes saved settings files from the memory card.

Note: You can save up to 10 setting files per card. Settings from different models or software versions may not be compatible.

If your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A fails to get an IP address, the issue is likely with the DHCP server. Try the following:

• The DHCP server may be frozen or down. Restart the DHCP server.

• **For a wired LAN:** Restart the DHCP server on your network. (Contact your network administrator for assistance).

• **For Wi-Fi:** Check that the DHCP server function of your wireless access point is enabled, or restart the access point. (Contact your network administrator for assistance).

If your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A cannot connect to the FTP server, check these possible causes:

• **Incorrect Server Settings:** Confirm that all FTP server details entered into the camera are correct.

• **Host Name Error:** The FTP server name (host name) registration may contain an error. Correct the [Host Name] in the [Destination Settings] on your camera.

• **Server is Down:** The FTP server may have frozen or is down. Try restarting the FTP server. (Contact the FTP server administrator for assistance).

If you see an error about failing to acquire an IP address that mentions the DNS server or DESTINATION SET on your SONY FTP ILME-FX3A, check the following:

• **Host Name Error:** The registered FTP server name (host name) may be incorrect. Correct the [Host Name] in the FTP server settings on the camera.

• **Manual IP Address Error:** If you set the IP address manually, the DNS server IP address might be wrong. Set [LAN IP Address Setting] to [Manual] and re-enter the correct IP address for the DNS server.

• **Automatic IP Address Issue:** If using [Auto] IP address settings, the network’s DHCP server might not be providing DNS information. The DHCP server’s DNS notification setting may need to be corrected. (Contact your network administrator).

• **DNS Server is Down:** The DNS server on the network may be frozen or down. Restart the DNS server. (Contact your network administrator).
