The data on performance and specifications in the manual are based on an ordinary ambient temperature of 25°C (77°F), unless otherwise indicated.

For the battery pack, the data are based on a battery pack that was fully charged until the charge lamp turned off.

Shooting in extremely cold or hot environments that exceed the operating temperature range is not recommended.

Under high ambient temperatures, the camera temperature rises quickly.

When the camera’s temperature rises, the image quality may deteriorate. It is recommended that you wait until the camera temperature drops before continuing to shoot.

Depending on the camera and battery temperature, the camera may become unable to record movies, or the power may turn off automatically to protect the camera. A message will be displayed on the screen. In this case, leave the power off and wait until the camera and battery cool down. If you turn the power on without sufficient cooling, the power may turn off again, or you may still be unable to record movies.

During use, the camera and battery may become warm. This is not a malfunction.

Especially during 4K shooting, the recording time may be shorter under low temperature conditions. Warm up the battery pack or replace it with a new battery.

No, XAVC HS and XAVC S movies can only be played back on compatible devices.

Before you start recording, make a trial recording to ensure the camera is working correctly.

The recorded image may differ from the image you monitored before recording.

Playback of images recorded with your SONY A7SIII ILCE-7SM3 on other equipment, and playback of images recorded or edited with other equipment on your product are not guaranteed.

Sony provides no guarantees for failure to record, or loss of or damage to recorded images or audio data due to a malfunction. It is recommended to back up important data.

Formatting a memory card will delete all data, and it cannot be restored. Before formatting, copy data to a computer or other device.

Attach the shoulder strap to prevent the camera from falling.

When using a tripod or grip, be sure to attach the camera securely.

Use a tripod with a screw less than 5.5 mm (7/32 inches) long. Using a longer screw can prevent you from firmly securing the camera and may cause damage.

Data on your memory card may be corrupted in the following cases. Be sure to back up your data for protection:

When the memory card is removed, the USB cable is disconnected, or the product is turned off in the middle of a read or write operation.

When the memory card is used in locations subject to static electricity or electrical noise.

If you insert a memory card without an image database file, the camera will automatically create one, which may take a long time.

If a database file error occurs, export all the data to your computer to save it, and then format the memory card using the camera.

Avoid the following places:

In an extremely hot, cold, or humid place.

In places such as a car parked in the sun.

Under direct sunlight or near a heater.

In a location subject to rocking vibration.

Near a strong magnetic place.

In sandy or dusty places.

In places with high humidity.

In areas where strong radio waves or radiation are being emitted.

If the camera is brought directly from a cold to a warm location, moisture may condense. To prevent this:

First, put the camera in a plastic bag and seal it to prevent air from entering.

Wait for about an hour until the temperature of the camera has reached the ambient temperature before removing it from the bag.

If moisture condensation occurs, turn off the camera and wait about an hour for the moisture to evaporate. Attempting to shoot with moisture inside the lens will result in unclear images.

Do not hold, hit, or apply excessive force to the lens, movable monitor, movable flash, or movable viewfinder parts.

Do not carry the camera with a tripod attached, as this may break the tripod socket hole.

Do not sit down with the camera in the back pocket of your trousers or skirt, as this may cause malfunction or damage.

To protect private information, perform the following operation before lending, transferring, or discarding the camera:

Select MENU → (Setup) → [Reset/Save Settings] → [Setting Reset] → [Initialize].

For memory cards, executing [Format] or [Delete] may not completely erase the data. It is recommended to use data deletion software to completely delete the data. When discarding a memory card, it is recommended that you physically destroy it.

If you use the cloud service (Creators’ Cloud), ensure camera linkage and upload settings are appropriate to prevent content from being uploaded to an unintended third party. Initialize the camera or cancel the linkage with Creators’ Cloud before transferring or lending.

Deactivate the [Location Information Linkage] function of the dedicated smartphone application to prevent accidentally revealing location information if you upload or share images online.

If dust or debris appears as dark spots on your image, clean the image sensor by following these steps:

1. Confirm that the battery is sufficiently charged (51% or more).

2. Go to MENU → (Setup) → [Setup Option] → [Anti-dust Function] → [Sensor Cleaning] → [Enter]. The filter glass will vibrate to shake off the dust.

3. Detach the lens.

4. Use a commercially available blower to clean the image sensor surface and surrounding area. Hold the camera slightly face downward so that the dust falls out.

5. Turn off the camera.

6. Attach the lens.

Note:

Do not turn off the camera during cleaning.

To clean the sensor with the camera turned off, set [Shutter When Pwr OFF] under [Anti-dust Function] to [Off].

Do not use a spray-type blower as it may scatter water droplets inside the camera body.

Do not put the tip of the blower into the cavity beyond the lens mount area.

Cleaning the lens:

Do not use a cleaning solution with organic solvents like thinner or benzine.

Remove dust with a commercially available blower. For stuck-on dust, wipe with a soft cloth or tissue paper slightly moistened with lens cleaning solution. Wipe in a spiral pattern from the center to the outside. Do not spray cleaning solution directly onto the lens surface.

Cleaning the camera body:

Do not touch parts inside the lens mount, such as the lens signal contact. Use a commercially available blower to blow any dust off from inside the lens mount.

Cleaning the product surface:

Clean the surface with a soft cloth slightly moistened with water, then wipe with a dry cloth. Do not expose the product to chemical products like thinner, benzine, alcohol, insect repellent, etc. Do not leave the product in contact with rubber or vinyl for a long time.

Cleaning the monitor:

Wiping the monitor firmly with tissue paper may scratch it.

If the monitor is dirty with fingerprints or dust, gently remove the dust, then clean the monitor with a soft cloth.
