To ensure safe operation, please adhere to the following environmental warnings:

Power Cord and Outlet: Do not use if the power cord is damaged or if the electrical outlet is not grounded. This could result in electric shock or fire.

To see the imaging unit, you need to remove the waste toner container.

The control panel consists of a display screen and several LEDs and buttons:

1. Display screen: Shows the current machine status and prompts during an operation. Use your finger only on the screen.

3. (Power / Wakeup) button: Turns the power on or off. A blue LED indicates the machine is powered on. To turn it off, press for more than two seconds.

1. From the display screen, tap the (Settings) icon > Display > More Settings > Quick Launch.

2. Select the desired quick launch function:

None: The icon is not shown.

Screen Capture: Capture the current screen to an image file.

Applications: Open a screen showing all apps.

Search: Open the search screen.

3. Tap (Back) to return to the settings menu.

You can customize your home screen by creating shortcuts and adding widgets. To begin, tap the (Home) icon to go to the main home screen, then touch and hold the home screen to view a list of available options.

Set wallpaper: Set the wallpaper for the Home Screen, Login Screen, or both.

Apps, XOA Apps, Widgets and Programs: Place apps, XOA apps, widgets, and program icons on the home screen.

Folder: Create a folder on the home screen.

Page: Add another page to the home screen.

To add a shortcut from the Apps menu, tap the Apps icon, scroll to the desired application, then touch and hold the application icon. This creates a shortcut which you can drag to a desired position on the screen.

To delete a shortcut, touch and hold it until it becomes movable, then drag it to the trash icon.

When you tap Job Status from the home screen or Apps, the screen lists the following sections:

Current Job: Displays a list of jobs in progress and pending.

Completed Job: Displays a list of the completed jobs, including information about jobs in which an error has occurred.

Secure Print / Fax: Displays a list of secured jobs. For secured print, you need to enter the ID and Password set in the printer driver. For secured fax, you need to enter the Password.

Active Notice: Displays any error messages and codes that have occurred.

To install the driver for a locally connected SAMSUNG MULTIXPRESS X740X on Windows, follow these steps:

1. Make sure that the machine is connected to your computer with a USB cable (no longer than 3 meters) and powered on.

2. Insert the supplied software CD into your CD-ROM drive.

3. If the installation window does not appear, click Start > All programs > Accessories > Run. Type X:\Setup.exe (replacing “X” with the letter of your CD-ROM drive) and click OK. For Windows 8, find Run via the Charms menu.

4. Review and accept the installation agreements in the installation window, then click Next.

5. Select USB on the Printer Connection Type screen, then click Next.

3. Double-click the CD-ROM icon that appears on your Mac desktop (or in Finder for Mac OS X 10.8 or higher).

4. Double-click the MAC_Installer folder > Installer OS X icon.

5. Click Continue.

6. Read the license agreement and click Continue.

7. Click Agree to agree to the license agreement.

8. Click Install. If you click Customize, you can choose individual components.

9. Enter the password and click OK (or Install Software).

10. Select USB Connected Printer on the Printer Connection Type and click Continue.

11. Click the Add Printer button to select your printer and add it to your printer list.

12. After the installation is finished, click Close.

1. Make sure no originals are in the Dual Scan Document Feeder (DSDF).

2. Ensure any glue, ink, or correction fluid on the paper is completely dry.

3. Open the DSDF.

4. Place the original face down on the scanner glass and align it with the registration guide at the top left corner of the glass. Leave a little space between the edge of the glass and the original to ensure a full scan.

5. Close the DSDF. Dust on the scanner glass can cause black spots, so keep it clean.

1. Prepare your originals by removing all staples and paper clips. Ensure any glue or correction fluid is dry.

2. Do not load paper smaller than 148 x 210 mm or larger than 297 x 432 mm.

3. Do not load certain paper types like carbon paper, coated paper, onion skin, wrinkled, curled, or torn paper.

4. Flex and fan the edge of the stack of originals to separate the pages.

5. Load the originals face up in the DSDF. Make sure the back edge of the stack lines up with the paper size mark on the document input tray.

6. Adjust the document width guides to fit the paper size.

1. Squeeze the handle and pull out the tray.

2. Squeeze the paper length guide and pull it to the end of the tray.

3. Squeeze the paper width guide and pull it to the end of the tray.

4. Flex and fan the edge of the paper stack to separate the pages before loading.

5. Load paper with the print side facing up. Do not overload the tray; ensure the paper is below the maximum capacity guide.

6. Adjust the paper length guide to the desired paper length.

7. After loading paper, pinch the paper width guide and move it toward the stack until it lightly touches the side. Do not press it too tightly.

8. Fix the paper length guide using the locking switch.

9. Insert the tray back into the machine.

Load one type at a time: Load only one type, size, and weight of print media at a time.

Do not add paper during printing: To prevent jams, do not add paper while a print job is in progress.

Loading orientation: Print media should be loaded face down with the top edge going into the tray first, placed in the center.

Use specified media: Always load only the specified print media to avoid paper jams and print quality problems.

Flatten media: Flatten any curl on postcards, envelopes, and labels before loading them.

1. Open the document you want to print.

2. Select Print from the File menu.

3. Select your machine from the Select Printer list.

4. To use advanced features, click Properties or Preferences to open the Printing Preferences window.

5. To start the print job, click OK or Print in the Print window.

If the print job is waiting in the print queue or print spooler, you can cancel it by simply double-clicking the machine icon in the Windows task bar to open the print queue window. You can also cancel the print job with the Cancel Print option from the computer’s Samsung Printer Status program window.

1. Access the Printing Preferences for your SAMSUNG MULTIXPRESS X740X from your software application.

2. Click the Basic tab.

3. From the Double-Sided Printing section, select the binding option you want. The default setting is Long Edge.

Printer Default: Uses the setting from the machine’s control panel (PCL driver only).

None: Disables duplex printing.

Long Edge: This is the conventional layout for bookbinding.

Short Edge: This is the conventional layout for calendars.

Reverse Double-Sided Printing: Check this option to reverse the print order for duplex printing.

4. Click the Paper tab and select the Original size, Source, and Type.

5. Click OK or Print to start the print job.

1. Tap Copy from the home screen or Apps.

2. Place the originals face up in the DSDF or place a single original face down on the scanner glass and close the DSDF.

3. Adjust the settings on the Copy tab and More tab as needed.

4. Enter the number of copies desired on the numeric keypad (or +, – button) on the control panel, if necessary.

5. Tap the Start button from the control panel to begin copying.

To cancel the current copy job, tap Stop > tap Job Status on the control panel. Then delete the job you want.

1. Tap Scan & Send from the home screen or Apps.

2. Place the originals face up in the DSDF or place a single original face down on the scanner glass and close the DSDF.

3. Adjust the settings in the Send tab and More tab.

4. Tap the From field, and then input the sender’s information.

5. Tap to add an email address or fax number as a destination. To send the scan to a different destination, tap the + Me, Email, SMB, FTP, Box, USB, PC or (Address book) buttons.

6. Tap the Start button from the control panel to begin the scan.

If the machine is not receiving power, or the connection cable between the computer and the machine is not connected properly, check the following:

Power: Plug in the power cord and turn on the power switch.

Network Cable: Disconnect the machine cable and reconnect it.
