The REMINGTON F5790 shaver consists of the following parts:

1. On/Off switch

10. Cleaning brush

For the best shaving performance, it is recommended that you use your new REMINGTON F5790 shaver daily for up to four weeks to allow time for your beard and skin to become accustomed to the new shaving system.

To charge your shaver:

1. Ensure the product is switched off. Connect the shaver to the adapter (Fig. A), then to the mains (Fig. B) and charge for at least 24 hours when using for the first time (Fig C).

2. After the shaver batteries are fully charged, the fuel gauge (F5790) will indicate the shaver is fully charged.

3. Use the product until the battery is low. This is indicated by an illuminated red light.

4. To maintain battery condition, fully recharge the shaver for 24 hours every 6 months.

When empty, the battery of the REMINGTON F5790 will be fully charged in around 120 minutes (2 hours), which provides 60 minutes of shaving time. The shaver also adapts automatically to a mains voltage between 100V and 240V.

For corded use, connect the REMINGTON F5790 shaver to the adapter, then to the mains and let it charge for 5 minutes before using. CAUTION: Extended use while connected to the mains will result in the reduction of the battery life.

Follow these steps for shaving with your REMINGTON F5790:

1. Make sure your shaver is properly charged.

2. Begin by removing the protective head guard from your shaver.

3. Switch the shaver on.

4. Slide the pop-up trimmer up and use it to remove long hair first. Then slide it down when finished. (Fig. D_E)

5. Stretch the skin with your free hand so the hairs stand upright.

6. Hold the shaving head so all foils touch your skin simultaneously. The independently floating foils automatically adjust to the contours of your face. Apply only light pressure on the shaving head while shaving and use short, circular strokes. (Fig. F)

7. After shaving, turn the shaver off.

The pop-up trimmer on the REMINGTON F5790 has three positions:

Completely retracted (down): The trimmer is out of the way and off, for when you want to use the screens alone. Press the trimmer button down with your thumb to get it into this position.

Middle position: The trimmer locks the pivoting head.

Fully extended (up): The trimmer can be used to trim your sideburns and moustache. It can also work with the screens, cutting the longer, hard-to-shave hairs so the screens can get extra close.

For the best results with your REMINGTON F5790, follow these tips:

1. Ensure your skin is dry.

2. Always hold the shaver at right angles to the skin so that both foils are touching the skin with equal pressure.

3. Use moderate to slow stroking movements.

4. The use of short circular motions in stubborn areas, especially along the neck and chin line, may obtain a closer shave.

5. DO NOT hold the shaver at an angle whereby only one foil is touching the skin. This will distort the foil and may cause the cutters to damage it.

6. DO NOT press hard against the skin in order to avoid damage to the foil.

To ensure long-lasting performance, we recommend you clean your REMINGTON F5790 shaver after each use. The easiest and most hygienic way is by rinsing the product head after use with warm water. Always keep the protective cap on the shaving head and keep the trimmer in the “off” position when the shaver is not in use.

To dry clean your REMINGTON F5790:

1. Pull the foil assembly up to remove it from the hair pocket. (Fig. G)

2. Thoroughly blow out the stubble from the foils and cutters.

3. Use the cleaning brush to sweep out the cutters. Do not use the cleaning brush on the foils, as damage may occur to the holes of the foils. (Fig. H)

4. Replace the head assembly.

To clean your washable REMINGTON F5790:

1. Pull the foil assembly up to remove it from the hair pocket. (Fig. G)

2. Foils – Do not use the brush to clean the foils. Instead, blow the shavings out or rinse the foils under cold or warm water.

3. Cutters & Trimmers – Use the cleaning brush to sweep any loose hairs from the cutter and trimmer. Rinse them in cold or warm water. Do not use hot water. (Fig. I)

4. Do not submerge the shaver in water.

5. After cleaning, replace the head assembly. (Fig. J)

CAUTION:

Do not clean the shaving foil with the brush.

Do not remove or replace the head assembly while the shaver is running as it may cause damage to the unit’s foils and cutters.

To clean the external surfaces of the shaver, use a damp cloth. Do not use strong detergents or other chemicals.

To dry, wipe the surface of the shaver with a dry towel.

To ensure the continued highest quality performance from your REMINGTON F5790 shaver, we recommend that foils and cutters are replaced regularly. Signs that your foils and cutters need replacing include:

Irritation: As foils get worn, you may experience skin irritation.

Pulling: As the cutters wear, your shave may not feel as close and you may feel your cutter pulling your hair.

Wear through: You may notice that the cutters have worn through the foils.

The replacement part number for the REMINGTON F5790 is SP-390.

TO REPLACE THE FOIL:

1. Pull the foil assembly up to remove it from the hair pocket.

2. Insert the new foil assembly into the hair pocket until it snaps in place.

TO REPLACE THE CUTTERS:

1. Grasp a cutter between your thumb and forefinger and pull upward.

2. Snap both new cutter assemblies into the top of the oscillator tips.

Note: Do not press on the cutter ends as this may cause damage.

If your REMINGTON F5790 shaver battery is completely empty or the shaver has not been used for an extended period of time, it may not start when operated using the cord. If this occurs, charge the shaver for approximately 15 seconds before shaving.

Your shaver should be mainly used in cordless mode and only recharged when the battery charge is low. Extended mains-only use or continuous connection to the mains will result in the reduction of the battery life.

WARNING – TO REDUCE THE RISK OF BURNS, ELECTROCUTION, FIRE, OR INJURY TO PERSONS:

1. An appliance should never be left unattended when plugged in to a power outlet, except when charging. Keep the power adaptor and cord away from heated surfaces.

2. Make sure the power adaptor and cord do not get wet.

3. Do not plug or unplug the shaver with wet hands.

4. Do not use the product with a damaged cord.

5. Charge, use and store the product at a temperature between 15°C and 35°C.

6. Always unplug from the mains when cleaning or when being used under running water.

7. Only use parts supplied or recommended by Remington®.

8. Keep this product out of reach of children. The use of this appliance by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge can give cause to hazards. Persons responsible for their safety should give explicit instructions or supervise the use of the appliance.

When your rechargeable shaver reaches the end of its useful life, the batteries must be removed from the shaver and be recycled or disposed of properly. To remove the rechargeable battery from your REMINGTON F5790:

1. Using a small screwdriver, pry off the front panel.

2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the four (4) screws from the front of the shaver, and remove the front housing.

3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the eight (8) screws from the front of the shaver.

4. Remove and open the core from the shaver to expose the batteries.

5. Cut the wires connecting the batteries to the circuit board.

6. Remove the batteries and dispose of them properly. (Fig. K&L)

CAUTION:

Do not put in fire or mutilate your battery packs as they may burst or release toxic materials. Do not short circuit as it may cause burns. Dispose of properly in accordance with your local and state requirements.
