To power the RCA LED40HG45RQ, first connect the AC cord. The television will enter standby mode and the power indicator light will turn red. The Picture Menu allows you to configure visual settings for each input. Options include:

Picture Mode: Standard, Movie, User, Dynamic, or Power Saving. In User mode, you can manually adjust Brightness, Contrast, Color, Tint, and Sharpness.

Color Mode: Cool (bluer palette), Normal, or Warm (redder palette).

Screen Size: Wide, Cinema, Zoom, or Normal.

Noise Reduction: Off, Low, Medium, or High to reduce picture interference.

Dynamic Contrast: Off, Low, Medium, or High.

Video Style: Switch between Video and Graphic when using a 1080p signal from a PC.

To access parental controls, go to the Lock Menu by pressing MENU and selecting LOCK. You must enter a four-digit password to unlock the menu; the default factory password is 0000. Within this menu, you can configure the following:

Change PIN: Update the parental menu password.

Input Block: Lock or unlock specific input sources.

V-CHIP: Restrict programs based on US or Canada ratings (English or French).

Keypad Lock: Block or unblock the physical buttons on the side panel of the television.

Clear Channel List: Reset the television system to factory defaults.

Connect your USB storage device to the USB port on the back of the television. Press the INPUT button and select USB. The USB Media Play menu will appear with the following options:

If the television does not power on, verify the following:

Check if the keypad buttons are locked. Try using the remote control to turn on the unit.

If the Keypad Lock function is active in the Parental Control Menu, you must use the remote to disable it.

Black bars typically occur when the aspect ratio of the broadcast signal does not match the screen. Most digital video is sent in a 16:9 format, while some is sent in 4:3. To attempt to remove the bars, go to the Picture Menu and adjust the Screen Size settings. Note that some bars are part of the original broadcast format and cannot be removed.

If you choose to wall mount the RCA LED40HG45RQ, ensure you follow these specifications:

No Signal on HDMI: Ensure the connected HDMI device is powered on and cables are firm. If problems persist, try restarting the device or changing the output resolution on the source device to 720p or 1080i.

The Sleep Timer allows the television to enter standby mode automatically after a set period. To configure this, go to the Time Menu and select Sleep Timer. You can set the timer for Off, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, or 240 minutes.
