What safety instructions should I follow when using the PROTECH QM1449 Digital Tachometer?

To avoid injuries to animal or human eyes, please do not point the laser beam in eyes or look directly into the beam. If the PROTECH QM1449 is not to be used for any extended period, please remove the battery.

WARNING: The manufacturer is not responsible for any potential injury from misuse.

What items are included in the box with the PROTECH QM1449?

The box for the PROTECH QM1449 contains the following items:

• 1x Digital Tachometer

• 1x 9V Battery

• 1x Carry Case

What are the key features of the PROTECH QM1449 Digital Tachometer?

The PROTECH QM1449 has the following features:

• Provides fast and accurate Non-contact RPM and surface speed measurements of rotating objects.

• Uses CPU technique, photoelectrical technique, and junction laser technique for one instrument combined PHOTO TACH. (RPM&REV).

• Two test modes: rotate speed mode (unit: RPM) & count mode (unit: REV).

• Wide measure range and high resolution.

• High visible digital LCD and Backlight display.

• Built-in memory recalls Max, Min and Last value stored.

How do I take a measurement with the PROTECH QM1449 Digital Tachometer?

To use the PROTECH QM1449, follow these steps:

1. Apply a reflective mark to the object being measured.

2. Depress the “MEAS” button and align the visible light beam with the applied target. Verify that the monitor indicator lights up when the target aligns with the beam.

3. The current mode will be the same as the last time it was used. If you need to change the mode, release the “MEAS” button and then press the “MODE” button before the instrument automatically powers off (this occurs 10 seconds after releasing the “MEAS” button). This will switch between “RPM” and “REV” (revolution).

4. Once you have selected the desired mode, depress the “MEAS” button to start measuring.

How do I access the stored memory values on the PROTECH QM1449?

To access stored values on the PROTECH QM1449, press the “MEM” button. This allows you to read the Maximum, Minimum, and Last value from the last time a measurement was taken.

What are the guidelines for using the reflective mark with the PROTECH QM1449?

For best results with the PROTECH QM1449, please follow these considerations for the reflective mark:

a. The non-reflective area must always be greater than the reflective area.

b. If the shaft is normally reflective, it must be covered with black tape or black paint before attaching the reflective tape.

c. The shaft surface must be clean and smooth before applying the reflective tape.

Cut the provided adhesive tape into approximate 12mm (0.5″) squares and apply one square to each rotation shaft.

How do I measure very low RPM values with the PROTECH QM1449?

To measure very low RPM values with the PROTECH QM1449, it is suggested to attach more than one “REFLECTIVE MARK” evenly around the object. Then, take the reading shown on the display and divide it by the number of “REFLECTIVE MARKS” you applied. This calculation will give you the real RPM.
