• Install all batteries correctly, with + and – as marked on the unit.

• Do not mix batteries (old and new or carbon and alkaline, etc.).

• Remove batteries when the unit is not used for a long time.

Your PHILIPS MX6000I Streamium DVD System is delivered with:

• 2 front, 1 center and 2 rear speakers

• 2 subwoofers built into the speaker stands

• 7 speaker cables

• 1 RCA-style audio cable (white and red plugs)

• 1 Composite Video (CVBS) cable (yellow)

• 1 Component Video cable (red/blue/green)

• 1 FM antenna

• 1 AM loop antenna

• 1 AC power cable

• 1 Category 5 Ethernet cable

• 1 remote control

• 2 batteries type AA

To ensure proper operation and prevent overheating of your PHILIPS MX6000I, follow these setup guidelines:

• Place the unit on a flat, hard, and stable surface. Do not place it on a carpet.

• Do not position the unit on top of other equipment that might heat it up (e.g., receiver or amplifier).

• Do not put anything under the unit (e.g., CDs, magazines).

• Allow at least 10 cm (4 inches) of clearance from the rear and top of the unit and 5 cm (2 inches) from the left and right sides.

• Do not block the ventilation openings.

• Do not expose the unit to dripping or splashing and do not place any sources of danger (e.g., liquid-filled objects, lighted candles) on the unit.

• Active mobile phones near the unit may cause malfunctions.

Maintaining the System:

• Clean the PHILIPS MX6000I unit with a soft, slightly dampened, lint-free cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents as they may have a corrosive effect.

• Do not expose the unit, batteries, or discs to humidity, rain, sand, or excessive heat.

• Always keep the disc trays closed to protect the lens from dust. Do not use commercially available lens cleaning discs, as they may damage the optical lens.

• If the lens clouds over after moving the unit from a cold to a warm environment, leave the unit in a warm environment until the moisture evaporates before attempting to play a disc.

Handling Discs:

• To remove a disc from its box, press the center spindle while lifting it.

• Always hold a disc by its edge and return it to its box after use.

• To clean a disc, wipe it in a straight line from the center toward the edge using a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use cleaning agents.

• If you need to label a disc, use a soft, felt-tipped pen and write only on the printed side. Never attach a sticker to a disc.

1. Open the battery compartment of the remote control.

2. Insert two alkaline batteries, type AA (R06, UM-3), according to the + and – indications.

3. Close the battery compartment.

Note: Do not combine old and new or different types of batteries. Remove batteries if they are discharged or if the remote control will not be used for a long time. Batteries should be disposed of properly as they contain chemical substances.

Assembling the Front Speakers:

1. Connect the speaker cables (purple connectors) to the connectors on the bottom of the subwoofers.

2. Put the front speakers (with white and red connectors) on top of the subwoofers and press them down gently until you hear a “click”. The front speakers are now connected to the subwoofers.

Assembling the Rear Speakers:

• You can attach the supplied mini speaker stands firmly to the bottom of each rear speaker using the supplied screws.

Attaching Rear Speakers to the Wall:

1. Attach the supplied bracket firmly to the rear of the rear speaker using the supplied screws.

2. Hook the speaker carefully onto a screw in the wall, using the hole in the bracket.

Positioning the Speakers and Subwoofers:

1. Place the subwoofers with the front speakers at an equal distance from your TV. The distance between your listening position and the left and right front speakers should be approximately equal to the distance between the left and right front speakers.

2. Place the center speaker on top of the TV.

3. Place the left and right rear speakers to the left and right of your preferred listening position.

Notes: Keep speakers away from room corners, position them at ear level, and leave enough space between the front speakers and the TV to avoid magnetic interference.

It is recommended to connect all speakers. At a minimum, the front speakers (left and right) and the subwoofers must be connected. When connecting, ensure the colors of the speaker cables correspond with the colors of the connectors on the rear of the main unit.

1. Insert the supplied speaker cables into the click-fit connectors on the speakers.

2. Connect the speaker cables to the corresponding click-fit connectors on the rear of the PHILIPS MX6000I unit, matching the cable and connector colors.

How to use the click-fit connectors:

1. Press down the clip on the connector.

2. Fully insert the stripped portion of the speaker cable into the socket.

3. Release the clip.

Connecting the FM antenna:

1. Connect the supplied FM antenna cable to the FM ANTENNA jack on the rear of the unit.

2. Extend the antenna cable and position it where reception is best.

Connecting the AM antenna:

1. Assemble the supplied AM loop antenna as shown in the manual.

2. Connect the antenna to the AM ANTENNA jack on the rear of the unit.

3. Place the antenna on a shelf or mount it on the wall in a position where reception is best.

You only need one video connection between the TV and the PHILIPS MX6000I. Choose one of the following options based on the available inputs on your TV. S-Video and Component Video offer better picture quality than Composite Video.

Using Component Video (Pr Pb Y):

1. Use the component video cables (red/blue/green) to connect the PHILIPS MX6000I’s COMPONENT PR PB Y jacks to the corresponding Component Video Input jacks on your TV.

2. To hear TV sound through the system, use the audio cable (white/red) to connect the TV IN (L/R) jacks on the system to the AUDIO OUT jacks on the TV.

3. If using a Progressive Scan TV, set the P-SCAN switch on the rear of the system to ON. Otherwise, set it to OFF.

Using S-Video:

1. Use an S-Video cable (not supplied) to connect the system’s S-VIDEO jack to the S-Video input jack on your TV.

2. Connect the audio as described in step 2 for Component Video.

3. Set the P-SCAN switch to OFF.

Using Composite Video (CVBS):

1. Use the composite video cable (yellow) to connect the system’s CVBS jack to the video input jack on your TV.

2. Connect the audio as described in step 2 for Component Video.

3. Set the P-SCAN switch to OFF.

For Playback (listening to external devices through the system):

1. For digital equipment, connect a digital RCA-style cable from the device’s digital output to the DIGITAL IN jack on the PHILIPS MX6000I.

2. For analog equipment (like a tape deck or CD player), connect an RCA-style audio cable from the device’s analog output jacks to the AUX IN (L/R) jacks on the PHILIPS MX6000I.

To listen to these sources, press AUX on the remote repeatedly to select AUX DIGITAL or AUX ANALOG.

For Recording (recording from the system to an external device):

• To make a digital recording, connect a digital RCA-style cable from the DIGITAL OUT jack on the PHILIPS MX6000I to the digital input of your recording device.

• To make an analog recording, use an audio cable (white/red) to connect the LINE OUT (L/R) jacks on the system to the AUDIO IN (L/R) jacks on your recording device.

Note: When playing an MP3-CD, no signal will be available from the DIGITAL OUT jack.

Connecting to Power:

1. Ensure your local power voltage matches the voltage shown on the type plate on the rear of the unit.

2. Make sure all other connections are complete before plugging in the power.

3. Connect the supplied power cable to the MAINS socket on the rear of the unit and then to a power outlet.

Switching On the System:

• Press STANDBY-ON on the main unit or press one of the source buttons (DVD, TV, TUNER, AUX, INTERNET, PC LINK) on the remote control.

Selecting a Source:

• Turn the SOURCE knob on the main unit or press a source button (DVD, INTERNET, PC LINK, TUNER, TV, or AUX) on the remote control to select your desired source.

• To select a specific disc (1-5), press the DVD button on the remote repeatedly.

• To select equipment connected via AUX, press the AUX button repeatedly to choose between AUX IN (analog) or DIGITAL IN.

Switching to Eco Power Standby:

• Press STANDBY-ON on the main unit or the power button on the remote control. The STANDBY-ON button will light up and the display will go blank.

1. Press DVD on the remote control to turn on the system.

2. Turn on your TV and set it to the correct Video In channel. You should see the PHILIPS MX6000I’s background screen.

3. Press the corresponding DISC 1-5 (OPEN/CLOSE) button on the system to open a disc tray.

4. Load your disc in the tray with the label facing up. If the disc is two-sided, ensure the side you wish to play is facing up.

5. Press the same DISC button again to close the tray.

6. Press DVD on the remote control repeatedly or rotate SOURCE on the main unit to select the disc you want to play.

7. If playback does not start automatically, press OK. If a disc menu appears, use the arrow buttons to select an item and press OK, or use the number buttons if selections are numbered.

8. To stop playback, press the stop button (■).

Adjusting the Volume:

• Turn the VOLUME knob on the main unit or press VOL+ or VOL- on the remote control.

• To mute the sound, press MUTE on the remote control. Press MUTE again to restore the sound.

Adjusting Bass, Treble, Loudness, and ClearVoice:

1. Press SOUND on the remote control repeatedly to select BASS, TREBLE, LOUDNESS, or CLEARVOICE.

2. Within 3 seconds:

• For Bass or Treble, press the up/down arrow buttons to adjust the level.

• For Loudness or ClearVoice, press the up/down arrow buttons to switch the feature on or off.

3. Press OK to confirm.

Adjusting the Surround Sound:

• Press SURROUND on the remote control repeatedly to select between STEREO, MULTI-CHANNEL (DTS and DOLBY), or HALL.

Note: A surround sound effect is only available if supported by the disc, media file, or service you are playing.

Repeat [DVD/VCD/CD]:

During playback, press REPEAT on the remote control repeatedly to cycle through the options: repeat current chapter/track (REPEAT CHPT/TRK), repeat current title (REPEAT TITL), repeat entire disc (REPEAT DISC), and turn repeat off (REPEAT OFF).

Shuffle [DVD/VCD/CD]:

1. Press SHUFFLE on the remote control to play tracks or chapters in random order. SHUFFLE will appear on the display.

2. To return to normal playback order, press SHUFFLE again. SHUFFLE OFF will appear on the display.

Program [DVD, VCD, CD, MP3]:

1. Press SYSTEM MENU and select Toolbar → Program.

2. To program tracks/chapters, select Tracks and press the right arrow.

3. Use the up/down arrows to select a desired track/chapter/title, then press OK to store it. Repeat for all desired items.

4. To play your program, select Program in the menu and change the setting to On. Press OK to start.

5. To review or delete tracks from your program, select Playlist.

6. To clear the entire program, select Clear all and press the right arrow.

1. Insert a disc with MP3 files. It may take several seconds for the system to recognize the disc. An on-screen menu will appear showing the tracks/albums.

2. Use the up/down arrow buttons or the number buttons to select an album.

3. To play the entire selected album, press OK.

• If you want to play a specific track from the album, press the right arrow to enter the album’s track list. Use the up/down arrow buttons or number buttons to select a track, then press OK to play it.

• To skip to another track during playback, use the up/down arrows or the number buttons.

Playing Picture CDs:

1. Insert a disc with JPEG pictures. A preview of 4 pictures will be displayed.

2. Use the arrow buttons to select a picture.

3. Press OK to display the selected picture in full screen.

• To skip to the previous or next picture, press the left or right arrow buttons.

Rotating a Picture:

1. While viewing a picture, press SYSTEM MENU.

2. Select Toolbar → View → Rotate.

3. Press the right arrow, then use the left/right arrows to select the rotation angle (90-degree steps).

4. Press OK to confirm the rotation.

5. Press SYSTEM MENU to exit.

Playing a Slide Show:

1. While viewing a picture, press OK again to start a slideshow of all pictures on the disc.

2. To stop the slideshow, press the stop button (■).

• To adjust the time each picture is displayed, press SYSTEM MENU, select Toolbar → Slideshow → Picture Time, and choose Slow, Medium, or Fast.

First, you must enter your 4-digit PIN code. When using for the first time, the default code is “0000”.

1. Press SYSTEM MENU on the remote control.

2. Select Setup → Access.

3. Select Enter PIN, press the right arrow, and use the number buttons to enter your code.

Set Parental Level:

• After entering your PIN, select Parental Level. Use the arrow or number buttons (0-8) to select a rating level, then press OK. Selecting “0” deactivates the parental level.

Change PIN:

1. After entering your current PIN, select Change PIN.

2. Enter the current PIN. You will be prompted to enter a new PIN.

3. Enter the new PIN, then enter it again to confirm.

Disc Lock:

1. With a DVD in the disc tray, enter your PIN and select Disc Lock.

2. Press the right arrow repeatedly to select On (to lock the disc) or Off (to unlock).

3. Press OK to confirm.

If you forget your PIN:

1. When asked to enter the PIN code, press the stop button (■).

2. Press DVD repeatedly to select a disc tray with no disc.

3. Press SYSTEM MENU.

4. Select Setup → Access → Enter PIN, and press the right arrow.

5. Press the number 4 four times. “Not possible now” appears, followed by “Enter New Pin”.

6. Use the number buttons to enter a new PIN code, then enter it again to confirm.

Tuning to Radio Stations:

1. Press TUNER on the remote control to select TUNER mode. Press it again to switch between FM and AM wavebands.

2. To automatically search for a station, press and hold the left or right arrow button until the frequency starts to change, then release. The tuner will stop on the next station with a strong signal.

3. To tune to a weak station, press the left or right arrow button briefly and repeatedly.

Automatic Preset Programming:

1. Press TUNER on the remote control to select TUNER.

2. Press and hold VIEW FAVORITES for 5 seconds. “AUTO PROGRAM FAVORITE STATIONS?” is displayed.

3. Press the red button (SUBTITLE) to select YES. The system will automatically store all available stations with sufficient signal strength (up to 40 presets).

Storing Favorite Stations Manually:

1. Tune to your desired radio station.

2. Press (UN)MARK FAVORITES on the remote. The station will be stored in the next available preset number.

Selecting a Favorite Station:

• Press the up or down arrow button on the remote to select the desired preset radio station from the favorite list, then press OK.

The PHILIPS MX6000I may be set to the wrong video signal. Follow these steps to correct it:

1. Press AUX on the remote control, then press SYSTEM MENU.

2. Press the right arrow repeatedly to select PICTURE.

3. Press the down arrow repeatedly to select TV SETTINGS, then press the right arrow.

4. Press the down arrow repeatedly to select VIDEO OUTPUT, then press the right arrow.

5. Press the up or down arrow to select the correct output based on your connection:

• Select ‘Y PB PR’ (COMPONENT VIDEO) if you connected the TV to the COMPONENT jacks.

• Select ‘CVBS’ if you connected the TV to the CVBS (yellow) or S-Video jacks.

6. Press OK to confirm the setting.

7. Press SYSTEM MENU to exit.

If the above fails, you can reset the video settings by pressing and holding the green button (ANGLE) on the remote control for 6 seconds.

If you are having trouble with disc playback on your PHILIPS MX6000I, please check the following:

• Make sure the correct program/channel number for the system is selected on your TV.

• Ensure the system and TV are connected properly.

• Check if the disc is scratched or dirty. Replace or clean the disc.

• Make sure the disc is inserted correctly, with the printed side up.

• Confirm you have inserted a compatible disc type: DVD, (Super) Video CD, Audio CD, CD-R(W), or MP3-CD.

• Make sure the region code of the DVD matches the system’s region code.

• Try changing the Parental level in the Access Control menu.

• Press SYSTEM MENU to exit any menus that may be open.

If you are not hearing sound from the center and/or surround speakers, please try the following:

• Make sure the center and surround speakers are connected correctly to the main unit.

• Press SURROUND on the remote control to select a multi-channel surround effect like MULTI-CHANNEL or HALL. If the setting is on STEREO, sound will only come from the front speakers and subwoofers.

If the remote control is not functioning correctly, first press the desired source button (e.g., DVD, TUNER, INTERNET) to ensure the remote is in the correct mode for controlling the PHILIPS MX6000I. Then, press the desired function button (e.g., OK, Play). If it still does not work, check and replace the batteries.

If the PHILIPS MX6000I system does not respond to any buttons, including the standby button, you should perform a power cycle. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, wait for at least 10 seconds, and then reconnect it.

If the system freezes during startup, try these solutions in order:

1. Press STANDBY-ON to switch off the system. Then press INTERNET or PC LINK to switch it on again.

2. If it does not respond, disconnect the system from the power supply, wait at least 10 seconds, then reconnect it.

3. If the system still freezes before you can see the menu, the software may need to be reinstalled. Follow these specific steps:

a. Make sure the system has access to the Internet through a wired (Ethernet) connection. If necessary, connect the system directly to a free LAN port on your router.

b. Disconnect the system from the power supply.

c. Press and hold the red button (SUBTITLE) on the remote control while you reconnect the power cord.

d. Follow the on-screen instructions to establish an Internet connection and reinstall the software.

Run the Philips AutoIP utility if you have a direct connection between the PHILIPS MX6000I and your PC (without a router). Do not run this utility if you have a wired or wireless home network with a router or base station.

1. Press PC LINK on the Streamium System.

2. Insert the Philips Media Manager CD-ROM into your PC. Navigate to the folder “Software” → “Tools”.

3. Double-click the “PhilipsAutoIPutility.exe” file to start it. A list of network adapters on your computer will appear.

4. Click on the adapter you want to use for communication between the PC and the system.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions based on the adapter’s status:

• If the status is “DHCP only”: Click the “Enable AutoIP” button. The status will change to “DHCP/AutoIP”.

• If the status is “DHCP/AutoIP” or “AutoIP”: Wait until the IP address changes to the format 169.254.x.x. Then, click the “Lock AutoIP” button. The PC is now set up.

• If the status is “Static IP”: The utility cannot make changes. You must either change your PC’s network settings to “Obtain IP address automatically” and restart this process, or manually enter a static IP on the Streamium System via SYSTEM MENU → Network → Network Config.

6. Click the “Exit” button to close the utility.

7. Press STANDBY-ON to put the system in standby. Then press PC LINK again. The system should now connect instantly to the PC.
