You can find the TV product model number and serial number on the packaging label or on the type label located on the back or bottom of the PHILIPS 43PFT6815 TV.

You can use the Help function to diagnose and get more information about your PHILIPS 43PFT6815 TV. To access it, press the Home button, then navigate to Settings > Help.

The Help menu provides access to:

TV information: View the Model name, Serial number, and Software version.

How to: See instructions on installing channels, sorting channels, updating software, connecting devices, and using Smart functions.

Check the TV: Check if the picture and sound are working correctly by playing a short video clip.

Check the network: Check the network connection.

Update software: Check for available software updates.

User manual: Read the user manual for TV information.

Troubleshooting: Find solutions for frequently asked questions.

Factory settings: Reset all settings to factory settings.

Reinstall TV: Reinstall and redo the complete TV installation.

You can update the software using the Internet or a USB drive.

Update from Internet:

1. Go to Home > Settings > Update software > Search for updates > Internet (Recommended).

2. If the TV is connected to the Internet, you may receive a message to update the software. A high-speed connection is needed.

3. During the update, there is no picture, and the TV will switch off and on again multiple times. Do not press the power switch on the TV or remote during this process.

Update from USB:

1. You will need a computer with a high-speed Internet connection and a USB memory device with at least 512MB of free space.

2. On the TV, go to Home > Settings > Update software > Search for updates > USB and press OK.

3. Insert the USB memory device into the TV and select Start. An identification file will be written to the USB device.

4. Insert the USB device into your computer, locate and double-click the `update.html` file, then click Send ID.

5. If new software is available, download the .zip file, unzip it, and copy the `autorun.upg` file onto the USB memory device (not in a folder).

6. Insert the USB memory device into the TV again. The update will start automatically. The TV will switch off and on. Do not use the remote, remove the USB, or press the power switch during the update.

To view the current software version:

Go to Home > Settings > Update software > Current software info.

To enable Automatic Software Update:

1. Go to Home > Settings > Update software > Automatic software update.

2. When this setting is enabled, the upgrade gets downloaded when the TV is powered ON and installed 15 minutes after the TV has gone to standby, provided there are no recordings or other alarms scheduled.

If the TV does not react to a key press on the remote control, the batteries may be empty.

1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control by sliding the battery door in the direction shown by the arrow.

2. Replace the old batteries with 2 type AAA-1.5V batteries. Ensure the + and – ends of the batteries line up correctly.

3. Reposition the battery door and slide it back until it clicks.

Top Section:

Standby / On: Switches the TV on or to Standby.

INFO: Opens or closes programme information.

SOURCES: Opens the Sources menu.

Middle Section:

OK key: Confirms a selection or setting.

BACK: Closes a menu without changing a setting.

Playback and Record keys: Controls for Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, Fast forward, and Record.

Colour keys: Direct selection of options. The Blue key opens Help.

Arrow / navigation keys: Navigate up, down, left, or right.

Home: Opens the Home menu.

OPTIONS: Opens or closes the Options menu.

Bottom Section:

NETFLIX: Opens the Netflix App directly.

Mute / Volume: Mutes/unmutes the sound or adjusts the volume level.

Number keys: Selects a channel directly.

TEXT: Opens or closes Text/Teletext.

TV EXIT: Switches back to watch TV or stops an interactive TV application.

SMART TV: Opens the Smart TV start page.

YouTube: Opens the YouTube App directly.

TV Guide / Channel list: Opens or closes the TV Guide. Long press to open the channel list.

If you have lost the remote control or its batteries are empty, you can still perform basic TV operations using the joystick key on the bottom of the TV.

1. With the TV switched on, press the joystick key to bring up the basic menu.

2. Press left or right to select Volume, Channel, or Sources.

3. Press up or down to adjust the volume or tune to the next or previous channel. Press up or down to go through the list of sources, including the tuner selection.

The menu will disappear automatically.

Tips on Placement:

Position the TV where light does not shine directly on the screen.

Position the TV up to 15 cm away from the wall.

The ideal distance to watch TV is 3 times its diagonal screen size. When seated, your eyes should be level with the center of the screen.

Keep the TV away from dust-producing sources like stoves and clean the dust regularly.

Wall Mounting:

Your TV is prepared for a VESA-compliant wall mount bracket (sold separately). Wall mounting requires special skills and should only be performed by qualified personnel.

For the 43PFT6815 model, use VESA MIS-F 200×100, M6 screws. The screw length should be:

A: Minimum 12 mm, Maximum 16 mm

B: Minimum 6 mm, Maximum 10 mm

Make sure that the metal screws go about 10mm deep inside the threaded bushes of the TV.

Before switching on the TV, ensure you have plugged the power cable into the POWER connector on the back of the TV and into a wall socket.

To Switch On:

Press the small joystick key on the bottom of the TV.

To Switch to Standby:

Press the Standby/On button on the remote control. In standby mode, the TV is still connected to the mains power but consumes very little energy.

To switch off the TV completely, disconnect the power plug from the wall socket.

Always connect a device to the TV with the highest quality connection available. Use good quality cables for the best transfer of picture and sound.

Antenna: Insert the antenna plug firmly into the Antenna socket at the back of the TV. Use an IEC Coax 75 Ohm RF antenna connector.

HDMI Device: An HDMI connection provides the best picture and sound quality. For best signal quality, use a High speed HDMI cable no longer than 5 m. HDMI ports support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).

HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel): The HDMI 3 port on your TV supports HDMI ARC. If your audio device, like a Home Theatre System (HTS), also has an HDMI ARC connection, connect it to the HDMI 3 port. This connection combines both video from the device and audio from the TV, so you do not need an extra audio cable.

Composite Device: Use a CVBS (Composite Video) connection for standard quality video. The connection also includes Audio Left and Right signals for sound.

Optical Audio Out: If your audio device (e.g., HTS) does not have HDMI ARC, you can use an optical cable to send the TV’s sound to the HTS. This connection can carry 5.1 audio channels.

Headphones: You can connect headphones to the 3.5mm mini-jack connection on the side of the TV.

Screen Mirroring allows you to view photos or play music and videos from a mobile device on your TV. The mobile device and the TV should be in the same room.

Switch on Screen Mirroring on TV:

Press SOURCES > Screen Mirroring.

Share a Screen on TV:

1. Activate Screen Mirroring on your mobile device.

2. On your mobile device, select the TV from the list of available devices.

3. After connection, you can enjoy using Screen Mirroring.

Stop Sharing:

You can stop sharing from either your mobile device application or from the TV. To stop from the TV, you can press EXIT to watch a TV broadcast, press Home to start another activity, or press SOURCES to select another device.

Block a Device:

The first time you receive a request to connect from a device, you can block it by selecting Block… and pressing OK. All future requests from this device will be ignored.

Unblock All Devices:

To clear the list of all previously connected and blocked devices, go to Home > Settings > All settings > Wireless and networks > Wired or Wi-Fi > Reset Screen Mirroring connections.

To pause or record a digital TV broadcast, you must connect and format a USB Hard Drive. Formatting will remove all files from the drive.

Requirements:

To Pause: A USB compatible Hard Drive with a minimum of 4GB disk space.

To Record: A minimum of 250GB disk space. The maximum supported partition size is 2 TB.

Installation and Formatting:

1. Connect the USB Hard Drive to one of the USB connections on the TV. Do not connect any other USB devices during formatting.

2. Switch on the USB Hard Drive and the TV.

3. Tune the TV to a digital TV channel and press II (Pause). Trying to pause will start the formatting process.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

5. The TV will ask if you want to use the USB Hard Drive to store apps; agree if you wish.

6. Once the USB Hard Drive is formatted, leave it connected permanently.

Warning: The USB Hard Drive is formatted exclusively for this TV. You cannot use the stored recordings on another TV or PC. Do not copy or change recording files with any PC application, as this will corrupt them.

Switch Source:

1. To open the sources menu, press SOURCES.

2. Select a connected device using the arrow keys and press OK.

3. To close the menu without switching, press SOURCES again.

Rename Device:

1. Go to Home > Settings > All settings > General settings > Input sources > Source > Edit.

2. Select one of the device icons and press OK.

3. Press the up arrow to move to the typing field and enter a new name using the on-screen keyboard. Use the colored keys for different functions (lower-case, upper-case, numbers/symbols, delete).

4. Select Enter when you have finished editing.

To watch TV channels:

Press the TV button. The TV will tune to the last watched channel.

Press TV + or TV – to switch channels.

If you know the channel number, type it in using the number keys and press OK.

To switch back to the previously tuned channel, press BACK.

To switch from a channel list:

1. While watching TV, press OK to open the channel lists.

2. To view the next or previous page of channels, press TV + or TV –.

3. To close the lists without switching, press BACK or EXIT.

You can update, reinstall, or perform an advanced reinstallation of your antenna channels.

1. Go to Home > Settings > Install Channels > Antenna installation > Search for channels.

2. Select Start now and press OK.

3. Choose one of the following options:

Update channels: Only adds new digital channels. This takes a few minutes.

Quick reinstall: Installs all channels again with default settings. This takes a few minutes.

Advanced reinstall: Performs a full re-installation that takes you through each step, including selecting your country and the type of channels to install (Digital and analogue, Only digital, or Only analogue).

While the channel list is open (long press TV Guide), press OPTIONS to access the following menu items:

Rename channel: Allows you to rename the selected channel using an on-screen keyboard.

Select Channel Filter: Select a combination of channels to show in the list, such as Digital/analogue.

Create favourites list: Select a channel and press OK to add it to a favourites list. Press – Done when complete.

Edit favourites: Select a channel to add or remove it from a favourites list. Press – Done when complete.

Select channel range: Select a range of channels in a favourites list.

Search channel: Search for a specific channel in a long list.

Lock channel / Unlock channel: Lock a channel to prevent children from watching it. A 4-digit Child Lock PIN code is required to watch a locked channel.

Create a Favourites List:

1. While watching TV, long press TV Guide to open the channel list.

2. Select a channel and press – Mark as favourites to mark it as a favourite. The channel will be marked with a heart icon.

3. To finish, press BACK. The channels are added to the Favourites list.

Remove a Channel from the Favourites List:

To remove a channel, select it in the list (it will have a heart icon) and press – Unmark as favourite.

Reorder Channels in the Favourites List:

1. In the Favourites list, press OPTIONS > Reorder channels.

2. Select the channel you want to reorder and press OK.

3. Use the Navigation buttons to move the highlighted channel to a new location and press OK.

4. Once completed, press – Done.

Open and Close Text/Teletext:

While watching a TV channel, press TEXT to open Text. Press TEXT again to close it.

Select a Text Page:

Enter the page number with the number keys.

Use the arrow keys to navigate.

Press a colour key to select a colour-coded subject at the bottom of the screen.

Text Options:

While in Text/Teletext, press OPTIONS to access features like:

Freeze page: To stop the automatic rotation of subpages.

Dual screen / Full screen: To show the TV channel and Text side-by-side.

Enlarge: To enlarge the Text page for comfortable reading.

Reveal: To unhide hidden information on a page.

The TV Guide allows you to view a list of current and scheduled programmes for your channels.

Open the TV Guide:

Press TV GUIDE to open it. Press the button again to close.

Tune to a Programme:

From the TV guide, use the arrow keys to highlight a programme name and press OK to switch to that programme/channel.

Set a Reminder:

1. Press TV GUIDE and select an upcoming programme.

2. Press – Set reminder and press OK. A clock icon will mark the programme. A message will alert you at the start of the programme.

Set a Recording:

1. Press TV GUIDE and select a future or ongoing programme.

2. Press the colour key – Record. A red dot will mark the programme name.

Search by Genre:

Press OPTIONS and select Search by genre. Select a genre and press OK to see a list of programmes.

To record or pause TV, you need a connected USB Hard Drive that has been formatted on the PHILIPS 43PFT6815.

Record Now:

To record the programme you are watching, press ● (Record) on the remote control. To stop the recording, press ■ (Stop).

Schedule a Recording:

You can schedule a recording from the TV Guide for an upcoming programme (up to 8 days away). Highlight the programme in the guide and press the colour key – Record.

Manage Recordings:

Press TV GUIDE, then press the colour key – Recordings. Here you can view new, watched, or expired recordings. You can also remove or rename recordings using the corresponding colour keys.

Pause TV:

1. To pause a live broadcast, press II (Pause).

2. To resume watching, press ▶ (Play).

3. While paused, a progress bar appears on screen. You can use ◄◄ (Rewind) or ►► (Forward) to select where to resume viewing.

4. To return to the live broadcast, press ■ (Stop).

You cannot use Pause TV while you are recording.

With the TV on, plug a USB flash drive or USB Hard Drive into one of the USB connections.

1. Press SOURCES, then select USB and press OK.

2. Select the media type you want to view: Photo, 360 Photos, Videos, or Music.

3. Browse your files and folders and select an item to play or view.

4. While viewing media, press INFO to see playback controls like Play, Pause, Next, Previous, Slideshow, Rotate, etc.

5. Press OPTIONS to access more functions like Shuffle, Repeat, Slideshow speed, and transitions.

For easy picture adjustment, you can select a preset style or customize settings manually.

Select a Picture Style:

Go to Home > Settings > Picture style. You can choose from styles like Personal, Vivid, Natural, Standard, Movie, Game, or Monitor.

Adjust Basic Settings:

Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Picture. Here you can adjust:

Colour: Adjusts the colour saturation value.

Backlight contrast: Adjusts the contrast value of the picture.

Sharpness: Adjusts the sharpness value of the picture.

Brightness: Adjusts the level of brightness of the picture signal.

Adjust Picture Format:

If the picture is not filling the screen correctly, go to Home > Settings > All settings > Picture > Picture format. You can select options like Wide screen, Fill screen, or Fit to screen to adjust how the picture is displayed.

Advanced Picture Settings:

For more detailed adjustments, go to Home > Settings > All settings > Picture > Expert mode settings. Here you can fine-tune settings like Colour Enhancement, Colour Temperature, Dynamic Contrast, Noise Reduction, and more.

You can adjust sound settings by selecting a preset style or customizing them manually.

Select a Sound Style:

Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Sound > Sound style. You can choose from styles like Original, Movie, Music, Game, News, or Personal mode.

Adjust TV Placement:

To optimize sound, go to Home > Settings > All settings > Sound > TV placement and select whether the TV is On a TV stand or On the wall.

Advanced Sound Settings:

Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Sound > Advanced. Here you can adjust:

Auto volume: Select On to automatically level out sudden volume differences, or select Night mode for a quieter listening experience.

Audio out: Select where you want to hear the TV sound (e.g., TV Speakers, HDMI sound system, Headphones).

Digital out format: Set the audio out signal to fit your Home Theatre System (e.g., Stereo, Multichannel).

You can connect your TV to your home network wirelessly or with a wired connection.

Wireless Connection:

1. Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Wireless and networks > Wired or Wi-Fi > Connect to network > Wireless.

2. From the list of found networks, select your wireless network.

3. Enter your network’s encryption key if prompted.

4. A message will be shown when the connection is successful.

Wired Connection:

1. Connect your router to the TV with a network cable (Ethernet cable).

2. Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Wireless and networks > Wired or Wi-Fi > Connect to network > Wired.

3. Make sure the router is switched on. The TV will search for the connection, and a message will be shown when it is successful.

Set or Change the PIN Code:

Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Child lock > Set code or Change code. The child lock code is used to lock or unlock channels and programmes. If you forget your PIN code, you can override it by entering 8888.

Parental Rating:

Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Child lock > Parental rating to set a minimum age to watch rated programmes.

App Lock:

Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Child lock > App lock. You can lock apps that are unsuited for children. The lock will ask for a PIN code when you try to start an 18+ rated app.

Disconnect the power cable from the power outlet. Wait for one minute, then reconnect it.

Make sure the power cable is securely connected.

Try switching the TV on again.

Connect the TV to a different wall socket and try again.

Disconnect all other devices from the TV and then try switching it on.

The TV requires some time to start up. During this time, it will not respond to the remote control or TV controls. This is normal.

Check if the batteries of the remote control are empty. Replace the batteries with new ones if necessary.

No picture / distorted picture:

Check the antenna or provider signal connection.

Ensure the correct source/input is selected in the Sources menu (press SOURCES).

Check that the external device or source is properly connected.

To check if the TV is broken, try playing a video clip by pressing Home > Settings > Help > Check the TV.

Sound but no picture:

Change to other video sources and then change back to the current source.

Try restoring the picture style. Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Picture > Picture style, select a style, then press – Restore style.

Poor reception:

Check that the antenna cable is properly connected.

Move large objects like loudspeakers or neon lights away from the TV, as they can influence reception.

Try improving reception by changing the antenna direction.

Picture does not fit the screen:

Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Picture > Picture Format and select Fill screen or Fit to screen.

Picture settings change after a while:

Make sure that the Location is set to Home. Go to Home > Settings > All settings > General settings > Location and select Home. The Shop setting is for in-store promotion and will reset picture styles.

No sound or poor sound quality:

Check if the sound settings of the TV are correct. Press the Volume or Mute key.

Ensure the TV’s audio signal is properly connected to your Home Theatre System (if you are using one), for example, via an HDMI ARC connection.

Make sure the TV audio output is connected to the audio input on the Home Theatre System.

Sound with loud noise:

If you watch a video from a USB drive or computer and the audio file has DTS sound, but your Home Theatre System does not have DTS processing, the sound may be distorted. You can fix this by changing the TV’s digital audio output format. Go to Home > Settings > All settings > Sound > Advanced > Digital out format and select Stereo.

HDMI Problems:

Be aware that HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) support can delay the time it takes for the TV to display content from an HDMI device.

If the TV does not recognize the HDMI device and no picture is displayed, switch the source from one device to another and back again.

If you experience intermittent sound disruptions, make sure that the output settings from the HDMI device are correct.

If HDMI EasyLink (CEC) is not working, check that your HDMI devices are HDMI-CEC compatible.

USB Problems:

If photos, videos, or music from a USB device do not appear, check that the USB storage device is set to Mass Storage Class compliant, as described in its documentation.

Verify that the USB storage device is compatible with the TV.

Check if the audio and picture file formats are supported by the TV.

If you experience choppy playback of USB files, the transfer performance of the USB storage device may be limiting the data transfer rate, causing poor playback.

Wi-Fi network not found or distorted:

Check if the firewalls in your network allow access to the TV’s wireless connection.

If the wireless network does not work properly in your home, consider trying a wired network installation instead.

Internet does not work:

If the connection to the router is successful, check the router’s connection to the Internet.

If the connection fails, you can check the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) setting of the router. DHCP should be switched on.

To change the language back to your preferred language:

1. Press the Home button, then select Settings > All settings > Region and language > Languages > Menu language and press OK.

2. Select the language you need and press OK.

3. Press BACK to close the menu.

Unplug the TV before cleaning.

Clean the TV and frame with a soft, damp cloth and wipe gently. Never use substances such as alcohol, chemicals, or household cleaners on the TV.

To avoid deformations and colour fading, wipe off water drops as quickly as possible.

Avoid stationary images (like on-screen menus, black bars, time displays) as much as possible. If you must use stationary images, reduce screen contrast and brightness to avoid screen damage.

Never touch, push, rub, or strike the screen with any object.
