You may be asked to provide the TV product model number and serial number. These numbers can be found on the packaging label or on the type label located on the back or bottom of the PHILIPS 32PHT6815.

To access the Help function, press (Home) > Settings > Help. You can use this function to diagnose and get more information about your TV. The options available are:

• TV information – View the Model name, Serial number and Software version of your TV.

• How to – See instructions on how to install channels, sort channels, update TV software, connect external devices and use Smart functions.

• Check the TV – Check if the picture and sound are working correctly by playing a short video clip.

• Check the network – Check the network connection.

• Update software – Check for available software updates.

• User manual – Read the user manual for TV information.

• Troubleshooting – Find solutions for frequently asked questions.

• Factory settings – Reset all settings to factory settings.

• Reinstall TV – Reinstall and redo the complete TV installation.

To look for a software update yourself using the internet, follow these steps:

1. Go to (Home) > Settings > Update software > Search for updates > Internet (Recommended).

2. If your TV is connected to the Internet, you may receive a message to update the TV software. A high-speed (broadband) Internet connection is required. If you receive this message, it is recommended to carry out the update.

Important: During the software update, there is no picture, and the TV will switch off and on again, possibly several times. The update can take a few minutes. Wait until the TV picture comes back up. Do not press the power switch on the TV or on the remote control during the software update.

You will need a computer with a high-speed Internet connection and a USB memory device (with at least 512MB free space) to upload the software to the TV.

1. Start the update on TV

Go to (Home) > Settings > Update software > Search for updates > USB, then press OK.

2. Identify the TV

Insert the USB memory into one of the USB connections on the TV. Select Start and press OK. An identification file will be written on the USB memory device.

3. Download the TV software

Insert the USB memory into your computer. On the USB device, locate and double-click the file update.html. Click on Send ID. If new software is available, download the .zip file. After the download, unzip the file and copy the file autorun.upg onto the USB memory device. Do not place this file in a folder.

4. Update the TV software

Insert the USB memory into the TV again. The update will start automatically. The TV will switch off for 10 seconds and then back on again. Please wait. Do not use the remote, remove the USB, or press the power switch. Once the software is updated, you can use the TV again. It is recommended to delete the autorun.upg file from the USB memory device to prevent accidental updates.

To switch on Automatic software update to have your TV software updated automatically, go to (Home) > Settings > Update software > Automatic software update.

Leave the TV in standby. When this setting is enabled, the upgrade gets downloaded when the TV is powered ON and installed 15 minutes after the TV has gone to standby, as long as there are no recordings or other alarms scheduled.

If the TV does not react to a key press on the remote control, the batteries may be empty. To replace them:

1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote by sliding the battery door in the direction shown by the arrow.

2. Replace the old batteries with 2 type AAA-1.5V batteries. Ensure the + and – ends of the batteries line up correctly.

3. Reposition the battery door and slide it back until it clicks into place.

It is recommended to remove the batteries if you are not using the remote control for a long time.

If you have lost the remote control or its batteries are empty, you can still perform basic TV operations using the joystick on the TV.

1. With the TV switched on, press the joystick key on the bottom of the TV to bring up the basic menu.

2. Press left or right to select Volume, Channel, or Sources. Select Demo to start a demo movie.

3. Press up or down to adjust the volume or tune to the next or previous channel. Press up or down to go through the list of sources, including the tuner selection.

The menu will disappear automatically.

Follow these tips for optimal placement of your PHILIPS 32PHT6815:

• Position the TV where light does not shine directly on the screen.

• Position the TV up to 15 cm away from the wall.

• The ideal distance to watch TV is 3 times its diagonal screen size. When seated, your eyes should be level with the center of the screen.

• Keep the TV away from dust-producing sources like stoves. It is suggested to clean the dust regularly to prevent it from getting into the TV.

The PHILIPS 32PHT6815 is prepared for a VESA-compliant wall mount bracket, which is sold separately. The specifications are:

• VESA Standard: VESA MIS-F 100×100

• Screw Type: M4

• Screw Length: Minimum 8 mm, Maximum 10 mm

Caution: Wall mounting the TV requires special skills and should only be performed by qualified personnel. The TV wall mounting should meet safety standards according to the TV’s weight.

Before switching on the TV, ensure the mains power is plugged into the POWER connector on the back of the TV.

Switch On:

• Press the small joystick key on the bottom of the TV.

Switch to Standby:

• Press the standby button on the remote control.

You can also press the small joystick key on the bottom of the TV to turn it on from standby. In standby mode, the TV is still connected to the mains power but consumes very little energy. To switch off the TV completely, disconnect the power plug.

Insert the antenna plug firmly into the Antenna socket at the back of the TV. You can connect your own antenna or an antenna signal from an antenna distribution system. Use an IEC Coax 75 Ohm RF antenna connector.

An HDMI connection provides the best picture and sound quality. For the best signal quality transfer, use a High-speed HDMI cable and avoid using an HDMI cable longer than 5 meters. Also, connect devices supporting HDR to any of the HDMI connections.

HDMI ports on this TV support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), which is a copy protection signal that prevents copying content from a DVD or Blu-ray Disc.

Only the HDMI 3 port on the TV supports HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel).

If your device, such as a Home Theatre System (HTS), also has an HDMI ARC connection, connect it to the HDMI 3 port on your TV. With the HDMI ARC connection, you do not need to connect an extra audio cable to send the TV’s sound to the HTS. The HDMI ARC connection combines both audio and video signals.

The Digital Audio Out (Optical) is a high-quality sound connection that can carry 5.1 audio channels. If your audio device, like a Home Theatre System (HTS), does not have an HDMI ARC connection, you can use this optical connection.

Connect an optical cable from the SPDIF OUT (Optical) port on the TV to the Audio In – Optical connection on the HTS. This will send the sound from the TV to the HTS.

Screen Mirroring allows you to view photos, music, and videos from your mobile device on your TV. Both the mobile device and the TV should be in the same room.

To share a screen on the TV:

1. On the TV remote, press SOURCES > Screen Mirroring.

2. Activate Screen Mirroring on your mobile device.

3. On your mobile device, select the TV from the list of available devices (it will be displayed by its model name). Once connected, you can enjoy using Screen Mirroring.

To stop sharing:

• From the mobile device: Use the application you started Screen Mirroring with to disconnect.

• From the TV: Press EXIT to watch a TV broadcast, (Home) to start another activity, or SOURCES to select a different connected device.

You can view photos or play your music and videos from a connected USB flash drive. Insert a USB flash drive into one of the USB connections on the TV while the TV is switched on.

The TV will detect the flash drive and open a list showing its content. If the contents list does not appear automatically, press SOURCES and select USB.

To pause or record a digital TV broadcast, you must connect and format a USB Hard Drive. Formatting removes all files from the drive.

• For Pausing: A minimum of 4GB disk space is required.

• For Recording: A minimum of 250GB disk space is required.

Installation and Formatting Steps:

1. Connect the USB Hard Drive to one of the USB connections on the TV. Do not connect another USB device to the other USB ports during formatting.

2. Switch on the USB Hard Drive and the TV.

3. When the TV is tuned to a digital TV channel, press (Pause). Trying to pause will initiate the formatting process.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

5. The TV may ask if you want to use the USB Hard Drive to store apps; agree if you wish to do so.

Once the USB Hard Drive is formatted, leave it connected permanently. The maximum supported hard drive partition size is 2 TB.

Warning: The USB Hard Drive is formatted exclusively for this TV. You cannot use the stored recordings on another TV or PC. Do not copy or change recording files on the drive with any PC application, as this will corrupt your recordings.

• To open the sources menu, press SOURCES.

• To switch to a connected device, select the device using the (Right) or (Left) arrows and press OK.

• To view technical information about the currently selected device, press OPTIONS and select Device info.

• To close the source menu without switching to a device, press SOURCES again.

To rename a connected device in the source list:

1. Go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > General settings > Input sources > Source > Edit.

2. Select one of the device icons and press OK. The preset name will appear in the typing field.

3. Press (up) to move to the typing field, press OK, and then enter a new name using the on-screen keyboard.

• Press the red key for lower-case.

• Press the green key for upper-case.

• Press the yellow key for numbers and symbols.

• Press the blue key to delete a character.

4. Select Enter when you have finished editing.

There are several ways to switch TV channels:

• Press TV + or TV – on the remote control.

• If you know the channel number, type it in using the number keys and press OK.

• To switch back to the previously tuned channel, press BACK.

• To switch from a channel list, press OK while watching TV to open the channel lists. The channel list may have several pages; use TV + or TV – to navigate between pages.

Channel list copy is intended for dealers and expert users to copy channels from one TV to another Philips TV of the same range. This avoids a time-consuming channel search. You will need a USB flash drive of at least 1 GB.

Conditions:

• Both TVs must be from the same year range.

• Both TVs must have the same hardware type and compatible software versions.

Copy a channel list to a USB flash drive:

Go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Channels > Channel list copy > Copy to USB.

Upload a channel list to an already installed TV:

1. Verify the country setting of the TV is correct.

2. Plug in the USB flash drive that holds the channel list of the other TV.

3. Go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Channels > Channel List Copy > Copy to TV and press OK. Enter your PIN code if necessary.

4. The TV will notify you if the copy was successful. Unplug the USB flash drive.

To prevent children from watching a channel, you can lock it. To watch a locked channel, you must first enter the 4-digit Child Lock PIN code. You cannot lock programmes from connected devices.

To lock or unlock a channel:

1. Press TV, then press OK > OPTIONS.

2. Select Lock channel or Unlock channel.

The locked channel will have a lock icon next to the channel logo.

You can create a favourite channel list that only contains the channels you want to watch.

Create a Favourites List:

1. While watching a TV channel, long press TV Guide to open the channel list.

2. Select the desired channel and press Mark as favourites to mark it as a favourite.

3. The selected channel is marked with a heart icon.

4. To finish, press BACK. The channels are added to the Favourites list.

Remove a Channel from the Favourites List:

To remove a channel, select the channel marked with a heart icon and press Unmark as favourite again.

Reorder Channels in the Favourites List:

1. While watching a TV channel, press OK > OPTIONS > Select channel list.

2. Select Antenna favourite, and press OPTIONS.

3. Select Reorder channels, select the channel you want to reorder, and press OK.

4. Use the Navigation buttons to move the highlighted channel to another location and press OK.

5. Once completed, press Done.

With the TV guide, you can view a list of current and scheduled TV programmes for your channels.

• Open the TV Guide: Press TV GUIDE. Press it again to close.

• Tune to a Programme: From the TV guide, use the arrow keys to highlight a programme name. Navigate right to view programmes scheduled for later. To switch to the selected programme, press OK.

• View Programme Details: To see details of a selected programme, press INFO.

• Change Day: Press Channel up to view the schedule for the next day, or Channel down to go back to the previous day.

• Set a Reminder: Select an upcoming programme, press the Set reminder colour key, and press OK. A programme with a reminder is marked with a clock icon. To clear it, select the programme and press the Clear reminder key.

• Search by Genre: Press OPTIONS and select Search by genre. Select a genre and press OK.

To record a digital TV broadcast and watch it later, you need:

• A connected USB Hard Drive formatted on this TV (minimum 250GB).

• Digital TV channels installed on this TV.

• To receive channel information for the on-screen TV Guide.

• A reliable TV clock setting. If you reset the TV clock manually, recordings may fail.

Note: You cannot record when you are using Pause TV. Some broadcasts may be protected and recording may be restricted or prohibited.

Record Now

To record the programme you are watching right now, press (Record) on the remote control. The recording will start immediately. To stop, press (Stop).

Schedule a Recording

You can schedule a recording of an upcoming programme up to 8 days away.

1. Press TV GUIDE.

2. On the TV guide, select the channel and programme you wish to record.

3. With the programme highlighted, press the colour key Record. The programme is scheduled for recording. If you plan to record in your absence, leave the TV in Standby and the USB Hard Drive switched on.

List of Recordings

You can view and manage your recordings.

1. Press TV GUIDE.

2. Press the colour key Recordings.

3. In the list of recordings, you can select the tabs New, Watched or Expired and press OK to filter your view.

4. With a recording selected, you can use the Remove or Rename colour keys.

To pause a TV programme, you need a connected and formatted USB Hard Drive (minimum 4GB) and digital TV channels installed.

• To pause a broadcast: Press (Pause). A progress bar will appear briefly at the bottom of the screen.

• To bring up the progress bar again: Press (Pause) again.

• To resume watching: Press (Play).

While the progress bar is on screen, you can press (Rewind) or (Forward) to select where you want to start viewing the paused broadcast.

When you switch to another channel, the broadcast of the former channel is cleared. You cannot use Pause TV while recording.

There are two main ways to access settings:

Frequent Settings Menu:

Press (Home) > Settings on the remote control to find frequently used settings like Picture style, Picture format, Sound style, Audio out, Sleep timer, etc.

All Settings Menu:

Press the (Home) key on the remote control, select Settings > All settings, and press OK. This menu contains all available settings for your TV.

Picture Style:

For easy adjustment, select a preset style by going to (Home) > Settings > Picture style. Available styles include Personal, Vivid, Natural, Standard, Movie, Game, and Monitor.

Manual Adjustments (Colour, Contrast, Sharpness, Brightness):

To adjust individual settings, navigate to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Picture, and then select the setting you wish to change (e.g., Colour, Backlight contrast, Sharpness, Brightness). Use the up and down arrows to adjust the values.

Picture Format (Aspect Ratio):

If the picture is not filling the screen correctly, go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Picture > Picture format. Options like Wide screen, Fill screen, and Fit to screen will automatically adjust the picture. For manual adjustments, select Advanced.

Sound Style:

For easy adjustment, select a preset sound style by going to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Sound > Sound style. Available styles include Original, Movie, Music, Game, News, and Personal mode.

TV Placement:

To optimize sound reproduction based on where the TV is placed, go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Sound > TV placement and select On a TV stand or On the wall.

Advanced Sound Settings:

For more detailed adjustments, go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Sound > Advanced. Here you can adjust settings like Auto volume (to level out volume differences) and Digital out format.

To connect the TV to the Internet wirelessly, you need a Wi-Fi router with a high-speed internet connection.

1. Go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Wireless and networks > Wired or Wi-Fi > Connect to network > Wireless.

2. In the list of found networks, select your wireless network. If your network name is hidden, select Add New Network to enter the name yourself.

3. Enter your encryption key (password).

4. A message will be shown when the connection is successful.

To connect the TV to the Internet with a cable, you need a network router with a high-speed internet connection.

1. Go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Wireless and networks > Wired or Wi-Fi > Connect to network > Wired.

2. Connect the router to the TV with a network cable (Ethernet cable).

3. Make sure that the router is switched on.

4. The TV will constantly search for the network connection, and a message will be shown when the connection is successful.

If the connection fails, check that the DHCP setting on your router is switched on.

To clear your Philips server registration, parental rating settings, video store app logins, App Gallery favourites, Internet bookmarks, and history, follow these steps:

Go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Wireless and networks > Wired or Wi-Fi > Clear Internet Memory.

This action will also clear interactive MHEG application ‘cookies’ saved on your TV.

If your TV does not switch on, try the following steps:

• Disconnect the power cable from the power outlet. Wait for one minute, then reconnect it. Make sure the power cable is securely connected and try switching it on again.

• Connect the TV to a different wall mains socket and try switching it on.

• Disconnect all connected devices from the TV and try switching it on.

• If the standby light on the TV is on, the TV might not be responding to the remote control. Try pressing the joystick on the TV itself.

If the standby light keeps blinking, disconnect the power cable from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes before you reconnect the power cable. If the blinking reoccurs, contact Philips TV Consumer Care.

If the TV switches off suddenly, the Switch off timer setting might be enabled. This feature switches the TV off after 4 hours if no remote control signals are received. To avoid this, you can deactivate the timer in the settings menu.

Also, if the TV does not receive a TV signal or a remote control command for 10 minutes, it will switch off automatically.

If the TV doesn’t respond to the remote control:

• The TV requires some time to start up. During this time, the TV does not respond to the remote control or TV controls. This is normal behaviour.

• The batteries of the remote control might be empty. Replace the batteries with new ones.

If no digital channels are found during installation:

• Check that the TV is connected with an antenna or is using a provider signal. Check all cable connections.

• Check if the country where you are installing the TV has digital channels available.

• Check that you selected the correct DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) system.

• Redo the installation and check that you have selected the correct country.

If you experience a distorted or no picture:

• Check that the TV is properly connected to an antenna or provider signal via cable.

• Check that the correct source/input is selected in the sources menu. Press SOURCES to select the correct input.

• Check if the external device or source is properly connected.

• Check if the reception is poor.

• Try changing to other video sources and then changing back to the current source.

• Select a different Picture style. Go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Picture > Picture style.

• To check if the TV itself is broken, try to play a video clip by pressing (Home) > Settings > Help > Check the TV.

If the TV picture is distorted or of variable quality, the input signal might be poor. A weak digital signal can appear as a picture breaking up into square blocks or freezing occasionally.

• Check if the antenna cable is properly connected.

• Large loudspeakers, unearthed audio devices, neon lights, high buildings, and other large objects can influence reception quality. Try to improve the reception by changing the antenna direction or moving these devices away from the TV.

• Bad weather can also deteriorate the reception.

• Check that all connections to and from your devices are properly connected.

• If reception on only one channel is poor, you can fine-tune it via Analogue: manual installation (for analogue channels only).

• If the picture size does not fit the screen (e.g., black bars on top/bottom or sides), go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Picture > Picture Format > Fill screen.

• If the picture size changes all the time, go to (Home) > Settings > All settings > Picture > Picture Format > Fit to screen.

• If the position of the picture is incorrect, check the signal resolution and output type of the connected device, then set the Picture Format to Original.

If you are experiencing sound issues:

• Check if the sound settings of the TV are correct. Press the volume button or the mute key to ensure the sound is not muted or set to zero.

• If you are using a digital receiver (set-top box), check that its volume is not set to zero or muted.

• Ensure the TV’s audio signal is properly connected to your Home Theatre System (if you are using one). Check that the HDMI cable is connected to an HDMI 3 ARC connection.

• Make sure the TV audio output is connected to the audio input on the Home Theatre System.

If your Wi-Fi network is not found or the signal is distorted:

• Check if the firewalls in your network allow access to the TV’s wireless connection.

• If the wireless network does not work properly in your home, try a wired network installation instead.

To change the language back to your language:

1. Press (Home), select Settings > All settings > Region and language > Languages > Menu language and press OK.

2. Select the language you need and press OK.

3. Press BACK to close the menu.

Follow these instructions for screen care:

• Never touch, push, rub or strike the screen with any object.

• Unplug the TV before cleaning.

• Clean the TV and frame with a soft damp cloth and wipe gently. Never use substances such as alcohol, chemicals, or household cleaners on the TV.

• To avoid deformations and colour fading, wipe off water drops as quickly as possible.

• Avoid stationary images as much as possible. Stationary images are images that remain on-screen for extended periods (e.g., on-screen menus, black bars, time displays). If you must use stationary images, reduce screen contrast and brightness to avoid screen damage.
