• New batteries of the same type must be inserted following the polarity stated to prevent malfunction of the remote control.

• Do not insert your fingers or other objects into the unit, as rotating parts may cause injury.

• Do not attempt to repair the unit by yourself.

• Do not install the unit in a potentially explosive atmosphere.

• Do not wash the unit with water, benzene, thinner, or scouring powder.

• Do not use for other purposes such as the preservation of food.

• Do not use any combustible equipment in front of the airflow outlet.

• Do not expose yourself directly to cold air for a long period.

• Ensure that the drainage pipe is connected properly to prevent leakage.

• Aerate the room regularly.

Outdoor Unit Safety:

• Do not insert your fingers or other objects into the unit, as rotating parts may cause injury.

• Do not sit or step on the unit, as you may fall down accidentally.

• Do not touch the sharp aluminum fin, as sharp parts may cause injury.

• Ensure that the drainage pipe is connected properly to prevent leakage.

• After long periods of use, make sure the installation rack is not damaged.

Use your PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG air conditioner under the following temperature ranges for optimal performance.

* DBT: Dry bulb temperature

* WBT: Wet bulb temperature

The multi air conditioner system of your PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG saves space by letting you connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit.

• It is possible to operate the indoor units individually or simultaneously. The operation mode priority is given to the first unit that is turned on.

• During operation, heating and cooling mode cannot be activated at the same time for different indoor units. The power indicator blinks to indicate the indoor unit is on standby for a different operation mode.

You can use the Auto OFF/ON button on the indoor unit when the remote control is misplaced or malfunctioning.

Press the MODE button on the remote control to select the desired operation mode for your PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG.

• AUTO mode – For your convenience

– The power indicator blinks during operation mode selection.

– For a multi-split system, the unit selects the operation mode every 3 hours according to the temperature setting, outdoor, and room temperature.

• HEAT mode – To enjoy warm air

– The unit takes a while to warm up. The power indicator blinks during this operation.

• COOL mode – To enjoy cool air

• DRY mode – To dehumidify the environment

– The unit operates at low fan speed to provide a gentle cooling operation.

To Set Temperature:

Use the TEMP buttons on the remote. The selection range is 16°C ~ 30°C. Operating the unit within the recommended temperatures can save energy:

• HEAT mode: 20°C ~ 24°C.

• COOL mode: 26°C ~ 28°C.

• DRY mode: 1°C ~ 2°C lower than room temperature.

To Select Fan Speed (5 Options):

Press the FAN SPEED button. For AUTO fan speed, the indoor fan speed is automatically adjusted according to the operation mode.

Your PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG has several special functions to enhance your comfort:

• e-ion – TO ENJOY CLEAN & FRESH AIR: Generates negative ions to produce a fresh air effect and attract dust, which is then captured by the positively charged e-ion filters.

• PATROL – TO MONITOR AIR QUALITY: The patrol sensor detects air quality. When the air quality is unsatisfactory, the e-ion operation will start automatically.

• QUIET – TO ENJOY QUIET ENVIRONMENT: This operation reduces airflow noise.

• POWERFUL – TO ACHIEVE TEMPERATURE QUICKLY: This function helps the unit reach the desired temperature faster.

Notes on function activation:

• PATROL, e-ion, QUIET, and POWERFUL can be activated in all modes and can be canceled by pressing the respective button again.

• PATROL, e-ion, QUIET and POWERFUL cannot be selected at the same time.

• PATROL and e-ion can be activated even when the unit is turned off. In this condition, fan speed and air swing cannot be adjusted.

You can adjust both the horizontal and vertical airflow direction on your PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG.

• Horizontal airflow direction louver: This is manually adjustable.

• Vertical airflow direction louver: Press the AIR SWING button on the remote to adjust through 5 options. Do not adjust this by hand.

– This keeps the room ventilated.

– If AUTO is set, the louvers swing up/down automatically.

– In heat mode, the air blows horizontally for a while, then starts to blow downwards.

You can set the timer to turn the PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG ON or OFF at a preset time. Follow these steps:

1. Press the ON or OFF button in the TIMER section to select the ON or OFF timer.

2. Use the arrow buttons to set the desired time.

3. Press the SET button to confirm.

• To cancel the ON or OFF timer, press the corresponding ON or OFF button, then press CANCEL.

• When the ON Timer is set, the unit may start earlier (up to 35 minutes) before the actual set time in order to achieve the desired temperature on time.

• Timer operation is based on the clock set in the remote control and repeats daily once set.

• If the timer is canceled manually or due to a power failure, you can restore the previous setting (once power is resumed) by pressing SET.

You can configure several optional settings on your PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG:

• Patrol auto-start: Press and hold the PATROL button for 5 seconds, then release to disable or restore this setting (Patrol starts automatically when the unit is switched on with the OFF/ON button).

• Indicator brightness: Press and hold the up-arrow TEMP button for 5 seconds to dim or restore the unit’s indicator brightness.

• Temperature display units: Press and hold the down-arrow TEMP button for approximately 10 seconds to show the temperature setting in °C or °F.

• Time format: Press and hold the CLOCK button for approximately 5 seconds to show 12-hour (am/pm) or 24-hour time indication.

• Remote control reset: Press the RC RESET button to restore the remote control’s default setting.

Before cleaning, switch off the power supply. Do not touch the aluminum fin, as sharp parts may cause injury.

Washing Instructions:

• Do not use benzene, thinner, or scouring powder.

• Use only soap (pH7) or neutral household detergent.

• Do not use water hotter than 40°C.

Front Panel:

1. Raise and pull to remove the front panel.

2. Wash it gently and dry it.

3. To close, press down both ends of the front panel to close it securely.

e-ion Filters:

1. Clean the filters regularly.

2. Wash/rinse the filters gently with water to avoid damage to the filter surface.

3. Dry the filters thoroughly under the shade, away from fire or direct sunlight.

4. Replace any damaged filter.

Active e-ion Generator:

• Clean with a dry cotton bud. It is recommended to clean the generator every 6 months.

Indoor Unit:

• Wipe the unit gently with a soft, dry cloth.

For Extended Non-Use:

• Activate Heat mode for 2-3 hours to remove moisture left in the internal parts thoroughly.

• Turn off the power supply.

• Remove the remote control batteries.

For Seasonal Inspection After Extended Non-Use:

• Check the remote control batteries.

• Ensure there is no obstruction at the air inlet and air outlet vents.

• Use the Auto OFF/ON button on the unit to select Cooling/Heating operation. After 15 minutes of operation, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between air inlet and air outlet vents:

– Cooling: ≥ 8°C

– Heating: ≥ 14°C

Before calling for service, check the following points:

• Heating/Cooling operation is not working efficiently:

– Set the temperature correctly.

– Close all doors and windows.

– Clean or replace the filters.

– Clear any obstruction at the air inlet and air outlet vents.

• Noisy during operation:

– Check if the unit has been installed at an incline.

– Close the front panel properly.

• Remote control does not work (Display is dim or signal is weak):

– Insert the batteries correctly.

– Replace weak batteries.

• The unit does not work:

– Check if the circuit breaker is tripped.

– Check if timers have been set.

• The unit does not receive the signal from the remote control:

– Make sure the receiver is not obstructed.

– Certain fluorescent lights may interfere with the signal transmitter. Please consult an authorized dealer.

• PATROL operation does not work:

– Press and hold the PATROL button for 15 seconds until a beep is heard, then press it again.

• Patrol sensor or e-ion indicator is blinking:

– Press the PATROL or e-ion button twice. If the blinking persists, please consult an authorized dealer.

The following symptoms do not indicate a malfunction with your PANASONIC CU-4E27CBPG:

If the unit stops and the timer indicator blinks, use the remote control to retrieve the error code:

1. In the TIMER section, press and hold the up-arrow button for 5 seconds.

2. Press the up-arrow button again until you hear a beep sound, then jot down the error code displayed.

3. Press the up-arrow button for 5 seconds again to quit checking.

4. Turn the unit off and reveal the error code to an authorized dealer.

Note: For certain errors, you may restart the unit with limited operation, and it will emit 4 beeps when operation starts.
