Multi Split Outdoor Unit (CU-3E23CBPG)

* DBT: Dry bulb temperature

* WBT: Wet bulb temperature

NOTICE: This model is not suitable for 24 hours non-stopping operation in heating mode below -5°C. When the outdoor temperature is below -5°C and you use this model out of the above conditions, the outdoor unit might be frozen up and stop operation for protection control.

The PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG multi air conditioner system saves space by allowing you to connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit. Here’s how it operates:

• It is possible to operate the indoor units individually or simultaneously. The operation mode priority is given to the first unit that was turned on.

• During operation, heating and cooling modes cannot be activated at the same time for different indoor units. The power indicator will blink to indicate the indoor unit is standing by for a different operation mode.

Caution: PATROL and e-ion operations can be activated even when the air-conditioner is turned off. In this condition, once the e-ion indicator is ON, the unit will operate with AUTO fan speed and air swing. However, this operation cannot be activated or will be deactivated if another indoor unit is activating the heating mode.

If your remote control is misplaced or malfunctioning, you can use the Auto OFF/ON button on the indoor unit of your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG.

The indicator lights on your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG provide information about its current status:

• PATROL SENSOR: Blue

• POWER: Green

• TIMER: Orange

• QUIET: Orange

• POWERFUL: Orange

• e-ion: Blue

• MILD DRY COOLING: Blue

Press the MODE button on your remote control to select the desired operation mode for your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG.

• AUTO mode – For your convenience:

– During operation mode selection, the power indicator blinks.

– For Multi split systems, the unit selects the operation mode every 3 hours according to the temperature setting, outdoor, and room temperature.

• HEAT mode – To enjoy warm air:

– The unit takes a while to warm up. The power indicator blinks during this operation.

• COOL mode – To enjoy cool air.

• DRY mode – To dehumidify the environment:

– The unit operates at a low fan speed to provide a gentle cooling operation.

Your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG remote control has several buttons for advanced features:

• e-ion (TO ENJOY CLEAN & FRESH AIR): Generates negative ions to produce a fresh air effect and attract dust, which is then captured by the positively charged e-ion filters.

• PATROL (TO MONITOR AIR QUALITY): The Patrol sensor detects air quality. When the air quality is unsatisfactory, the e-ion operation will start automatically.

• QUIET (TO ENJOY QUIET ENVIRONMENT): This operation reduces airflow noise.

• POWERFUL (TO ACHIEVE TEMPERATURE QUICKLY).

Usage Notes:

• PATROL, e-ion, QUIET, and POWERFUL can be activated in all modes and can be cancelled by pressing the respective button again.

• MILD DRY COOLING can only be activated in COOL mode and cancelled by pressing the button again.

• PATROL, e-ion and MILD DRY COOLING or QUIET and POWERFUL cannot be selected at the same time.

• PATROL and e-ion can be activated even when the unit is turned off. In this condition, fan speed and air swing cannot be adjusted.

To set the timer to turn your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG ON or OFF at a preset time, follow these steps:

1. Press the ON or OFF button in the TIMER section to select the ON or OFF timer.

2. Set the desired time using the arrow buttons.

3. Press the SET button to confirm.

To cancel the ON or OFF timer, press the corresponding ON or OFF button, and then press CANCEL.

Notes:

• When the ON Timer is set, the unit may start earlier (up to 35 minutes) before the actual set time to achieve the desired temperature on time.

• Timer operation is based on the clock set in the remote control and repeats daily once set. For clock setting, please refer to Remote Control Preparation at the back cover.

• If the timer is cancelled manually or due to a power failure, you can restore the previous setting (once power is resumed) by pressing SET.

You can customize your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG with these optional settings:

• Automatic Patrol Start: Press and hold the PATROL button for 5 seconds, then release to disable or restore the setting where Patrol starts automatically when the unit is switched on.

• Indicator Brightness: Press and hold the temperature down arrow button for 5 seconds to dim or restore the unit’s indicator brightness.

• Temperature Display (°C/°F): Press and hold the temperature down arrow button for approximately 10 seconds to show the temperature setting in °C or °F.

• Time Indication (12/24-hour): Press and hold the CLOCK button for approximately 5 seconds to show 12-hour (am/pm) or 24-hour time indication.

• Remote Control Reset: Press the RC RESET button (small recessed button) to restore the remote control’s default setting.

• Use curtains to screen off sunlight and outdoor heat to reduce power consumption during cool mode.

CAUTION: Switch off the power supply before cleaning. Do not touch the aluminum fin, as sharp parts may cause injury.

Washing Instructions:

• Do not use benzene, thinner, or scouring powder.

• Use only soap (≈ pH7) or neutral household detergent.

• Do not use water hotter than 40°C.

Front Panel:

1. Raise and pull to remove the front panel.

2. Wash it gently and dry.

3. To close, press down on both ends of the front panel to close it securely.

e-ion Filters:

1. Clean the filters regularly.

2. Wash/rinse the filters gently with water to avoid damage to the filter surface.

3. Dry the filters thoroughly under the shade, away from fire or direct sunlight.

4. Replace any damaged filter.

Indoor Unit:

• Wipe the unit gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Active e-ion Generator:

• Clean with a dry cotton bud. It is recommended to clean the Active e-ion generator every 6 months.

For seasonal inspection after extended non-use:

• Check the remote control batteries.

• Ensure there is no obstruction at the air inlet and air outlet vents.

• Use the Auto OFF/ON button to select Cooling/Heating operation. After 15 minutes of operation, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between air inlet and air outlet vents:

– Cooling: ≥ 8°C

– Heating: ≥ 14°C

For extended non-use:

• Activate Heat mode for 2-3 hours to remove moisture left in the internal parts thoroughly.

• Turn off the power supply.

• Remove the remote control batteries.

The following symptoms do not indicate a malfunction in your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG:

Before calling for service, please check the following points for your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG:

If your PANASONIC CU-3E23CBPG unit stops and the timer indicator blinks, use the remote control to retrieve the error code:

1. Press and hold the up arrow in the TIMER section for 5 seconds.

2. Press the up/down arrows until you hear a beep sound, then jot down the error code displayed.

3. Press the same arrow button again for 5 seconds to quit checking.

4. Turn the unit off and reveal the error code to an authorized dealer.

Note: For certain errors, you may restart the unit with limited operation, and it will emit 4 beeps when operation starts.
