Do not connect or disconnect the fiber cable in an atmosphere of flammable or explosive gases. An arc during connection or disconnection may cause an explosion.

Do not directly stare into the outgoing light. The light may damage the eye.

Please observe the following precautions for safe use of the product.

1. Do not apply tensile force exceeding 30 N to the fiber cable.

2. Bend the cable with the bending radius of at least 20 mm.

3. Do not apply strong impact or excessive force to the fiber connector portion.

4. Do not forcibly pull the fiber cable.

5. Do not forcibly push or pull the lock on the fiber cable.

6. Do not install in the following locations. Doing so may result in malfunction or damage. Locations where the product is directly subject to vibration or shock. Do not forcibly push or pull to apply shock to the connector.

7. Always turn the power supply off before connecting or disconnecting the fiber cable.

8. Do not use the product in environments where it can be exposed to corrosive gases or direct sunlight.

9. Do not use the product in locations with oil or chemicals. The product may be damaged by oil or chemicals.

10. Keep the connector portion clean.

11. Be sure to use the product after confirming that it is locked.

12. To dispose of the product, treat it as industrial waste.

13. Do not use the product if the case is damaged. It is not possible to ensure that the product will work properly if the case is broken.

14. Do not modify the product or its industrial waste.

15. To dispose of the product, treat it as industrial waste.

16. If you observe an abnormal condition such as a strange odor, extreme heating of the unit, or smoke, immediately stop using the product, turn off the power, and consult your dealer.

Observe the following precautions to prevent the product from malfunctioning, being damaged, or having a negative effect on the device. Not observing the following may cause unexpected problems. Not observing the following might damage the fiber cable.

2. If the end face becomes soiled, use of the Sensor Head may affect its performance deteriorating angle slope etc. If the end face requires wiping, use the Fiber Cleaner (ZW-XCL) which is sold separately. Never use organic solvents or other cleaning products.

3. The extension fiber cable can be connected one by one. But when connecting/using the extension cable frequently, use of the sensibility correcting function would be recommended because of the possible measurement error.

4. When being not connected to the fiber connector, please attach the protective cap to the connector.

5. When the fiber is being connected, be sure to use the accessory connecting adapter. The connecting adapter is consumable. Replace it with a new one when there is a decline in the measuring value, for details on the amount of time for this process refer to the User’s Manual.

6. Please make sure that the fiber cable and the head are securely fixed.

7. The connecting adapter is a consumable product. Please exchange regularly.

8. The setting range of the measuring period (Exposure time) varies. For the details, refer to the User’s Manual of the ZW-8000 Series.

To attach the protective cap to the two ends of the fiber cable:

1. Attaching the protective cap. The protective cap is used for protecting the cable from being damaged.

2. Keep the protective cap attached when the cable is not connected to the sensor controller or sensor head.

The standard fiber cable and the extension fiber cable can be connected together with the product as shown.

When the connection is performed, the connection adapter is used.

When connecting, adjust the projection of the fiber connector so that it fits to the fiber connector of the standard fiber cable or the extension fiber cable, and then push in until it clicks.

The extension fiber cable can be connected.

If there is dirt, the fiber connector cannot be connected correctly.

1. Attach the fiber cable so that the projection of the fiber connector fits into the slit of the connector of the sensor head/controller. Insert the fiber cable having the fiber connector when the fiber cable is connected.

2. Grip the fiber connector, and insert the fiber cable until it clicks.

3. Please make sure that the cable is locked properly with the pod connected.

4. Be careful not to hold the hush bush when inserting the cable until it is locked.

Note: The cable cannot be connected properly by holding the hush bush. It may damage the light receiving/transmission extensions and cause measurement errors.

Pull out the fiber connector while pressing the pod to remove the fiber connector.

(1) Cleaning of the end face is possible only by making the tip portion of the cleaner dirty.

(2) Cleaning of the end face of the fiber connector of the Sensor Controller side:

Push the cleaner up (oblique side face) into the fiber connector and after it gets stuck with the fiber connector inside the sensor controller, pull the side lever of the cleaner and wipe up and down the end face of the fiber connector about three times. Then pull out the cleaner. When the Sensor Head is used with an extension cable connected, clean the connection surface in the same procedure.

(3) Cleaning of the edge of the fiber connector of the Extension Fiber cable and the Sensor Head:

Hold down the tip portion of the cleaner with the lever, and wipe up and down the end face of the fiber connector about three times.

Note: Dirt can only be wiped up once. Reusing the cleaner may result in dirt or scratches on the end surface, causing measurement errors. Make sure that you only use the cleaner once. Always cut the used end of the cleaner off with scissors after cleaning the part (oblique end face).
