For safe operation and maintenance of your MIDEA MAP14HS1TBL, please observe the following cautions:

The MIDEA MAP14HS1TBL uses flammable refrigerant R32. Please follow these instructions carefully:

• Do not try to accelerate the defrosting process or use cleaning methods not recommended by the manufacturer.

• The appliance must be stored in a room without continuously operating ignition sources (e.g., open flames, an operating gas appliance, or an operating electric heater).

• Do not pierce or burn the unit.

• Be aware that refrigerants may not have an odor.

• Keep ventilation openings clear of obstruction.

• Flammable refrigerant R32 is used within the air conditioner. Follow instructions carefully to handle, install, clean, and service the unit to avoid damage or hazard.

• Do not dispose of the air conditioner in regular trash. Contact a qualified agency for proper disposal.

• No open flames or devices that generate sparks/arcing should be near the air conditioner to avoid ignition of the refrigerant. Follow instructions carefully to store or maintain the unit to prevent mechanical damage.

The power supply cord contains a current measuring device to detect damage. To test it:

1. Plug in the air conditioner.

2. The plug head has two buttons, TEST and RESET. Press the TEST button. You will hear a click as the RESET button pops out.

3. Press the RESET button. You will hear a click as the button engages.

4. The power supply cord is now supplying electricity to the unit. On some models, a light on the plug head will indicate this.

Note:

• Do not use this device to turn the unit on or off.

• Always ensure the RESET button is pushed in for correct operation.

• The power supply cord must be replaced if it fails to reset when the TEST button is pushed, or if it cannot be reset.

Here are the functions of the control panel buttons on your MIDEA MAP14HS1TBL:

• Swing Button: Press to start the Auto Swing feature. Pressing it again while the louver is swinging will stop it at the desired angle.

• Connect Button (shared with Swing): To initiate wireless connection mode, power on the unit and press the SWING button for 3 seconds. The LED display will show ‘AP’. The process must be completed within 8 minutes.

• Timer button: Use this to set the AUTO ON start time and AUTO OFF stop time program.

• Fan button: Controls the fan speed in four steps: LOW, MID, HIGH, and AUTO. In COOL or DRY mode, press and hold the Fan button for 3 seconds to turn the constant fan function on or off.

• Mode button: Selects the operating mode. It cycles through AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN, and HEAT (if applicable).

• Up (^) and Down (v) buttons: Use to increase or decrease temperature settings (60°F/16°C to 86°F/30°C) or the TIMER setting (0-24 hrs). To change between °F and °C, press and hold both buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

• Power button: Turns the unit on and off.

• Sleep button: Press to initiate SLEEP operation. Press again to stop it. Press and hold for 3 seconds to initiate the filter clean reminder feature. The filter light will illuminate after 250 hours of operation.

• LED display: Shows the set temperature in °F or °C, Auto-timer settings, and room temperature when in FAN mode.

1. Press the “MODE” button until the “COOL” indicator light comes on.

2. Press the ADJUST buttons Up (^) or Down (v) to select your desired room temperature. The temperature can be set within a range of 60°F-86°F / 16°C-30°C.

3. Press the “FAN SPEED” button to choose the fan speed.

3. Press the “FAN SPEED” button to choose the fan speed. For some models, the fan speed cannot be adjusted in HEAT mode.

1. Press the “MODE” button until the “DRY” indicator light comes on.

2. In this mode, you cannot select a fan speed; the fan motor operates at AUTO speed.

3. Keep windows and doors closed for the best dehumidifying effect.

4. Do not put the duct to the window.

AUTO Operation:

• When you set the air conditioner to AUTO mode, it will automatically select cooling, heating (cooling only models excluded), or fan-only operation depending on your selected temperature and the current room temperature.

• The air conditioner will control the room temperature automatically according to the temperature point you set.

• In AUTO mode, you cannot select the fan speed.

FAN Operation:

• Press the “MODE” button until the “FAN” indicator light comes on.

• Press the “FAN SPEED” button to choose the fan speed.

• The temperature cannot be adjusted in FAN mode.

• Do not connect the duct to a window.

• To set Auto Stop: When the unit is on, press the Timer button to initiate the Auto stop program. The TIMER OFF indicator light will illuminate. Press the Up (^) or Down (v) button to select the desired time.

• To set Auto Start: When the unit is off, press the Timer button to initiate the Auto start program. Press it again within five seconds to initiate the Auto stop program. Press the Up (^) or Down (v) button to select the desired Auto start time.

• Adjusting the time: Press or hold the Up (^) or Down (v) button to change the Auto time by 0.5-hour increments up to 10 hours, then in 1-hour increments up to 24 hours.

• The control will count down the time remaining until start.

• The system will revert to displaying the previous temperature setting if there is no operation within 5 seconds.

• To cancel: Turning the unit ON or OFF at any time or adjusting the timer setting to 0.0 will cancel the Auto Start/Stop timer program.

If error codes appear (EH(xx), EL(xx), EC(xx), PH(xx), PL(xx), PC(xx)), wait for about 10 minutes as the problem may resolve itself. If not, disconnect power, reconnect it, and turn the unit on. If the problem persists, disconnect the power and contact customer service.

• P1 – Bottom tray is full: This protection code means the water collection tray is full. Connect the drain hose and drain the collected water away. If the code repeats, call for service.

• SLEEP operation: Pressing this button will increase the temperature (in cooling) or decrease it (in heating) by 2°F/1°C after 30 minutes, and again after another 30 minutes. This new temperature is maintained for 7 hours before returning to the original setting. This feature is unavailable in FAN or DRY mode.

• COMFORT SENSE feature (Remote Control only): The remote control acts as a remote thermostat. Point the remote at the unit and press the set button. The remote will send the temperature at its location to the AC every 3 minutes. The unit must be within 26 feet of the remote. This feature is unavailable in FAN or DRY mode.

• AUTO-RESTART: If the unit shuts off due to a power outage, it will automatically restart with the previous settings when power is restored.

• WAIT 3 MINUTES BEFORE RESUMING OPERATION: To protect the unit, it cannot be restarted for 3 minutes after it has stopped.

• AIRFLOW DIRECTION ADJUSTMENT: The louver can be adjusted automatically using the SWING button on the panel or remote. Do not adjust the louver manually.

During Dry Modes (Upper Drain):

1. Remove the upper drain plug from the back of the unit.

2. Install the drain connector (5/8″ universal female adapter) with a 3/4″ hose (not included). For models without a drain connector, just attach the drain hose to the hole.

3. Place the end of the hose directly in the drain area you’re using.

Under Heat Mode (Middle Drain):

1. Remove the middle drain plug from the back of the unit.

2. Install the drain connector (5/8″ universal female adapter) with a 3/4″ hose (not included). For models without a connector, attach the drain hose to the connector hole.

3. Place the end of the hose in your drain area. The hose can be elevated up to 6ft (1.8m), but ensure there are no kinks and the end is directed downward.

When the Bottom Tray is Full (“P1” code):

1. The unit will beep 8 times and display “P1”.

2. Carefully move the unit to a drain location.

3. Remove the bottom drain plug and let the water drain away.

4. Reinstall the bottom drain plug firmly and restart the machine until the “P1” symbol disappears.

Your installation location should meet the following requirements:

• Install the unit on an even surface to minimize noise and vibration.

• The unit must be installed near a grounded plug, and the Collection Tray Drain on the back must be accessible.

• The unit should be located at least 9.8″ (25cm) from the nearest wall for proper air conditioning.

• The horizontal louver blade should be at least 19.7″ (50cm) away from obstacles.

• DO NOT cover the Intakes, Outlets, or Remote Signal Receptor of the unit.

Step 1: Prepare the Hose and Slider

• For hung windows, insert the Air Exhaust Adapter into the hose and rotate clockwise until it clicks.

• Adjust the window slider(s) to the size of your window. If using multiple sliders, use the bolts to fasten them together.

• Paste the insulator on the inside of the Window sliders.

Step 2: Install in a Hung Window (Type 1)

1. Cut the adhesive foam seals (A and B) to the proper lengths and attach them to the window sash and frame.

2. Insert the window slider assembly into the window opening. Attach the Window Kit Brace to the back of the hose panel if needed.

3. Cut the non-adhesive foam seal (C) to match the window width and insert it between the glass and the window frame.

4. If desired, install the security bracket with 2 screws.

5. Attach the Hung Window Adapter on the hose to the hole in the window slider.

Step 3: Install in a Sliding Window (Type 2 – Optional)

1. Assemble the Sliding Window Adapter by aligning both halves and connecting them. Attach the air divider to the outdoor side.

2. Cut and attach foam seals A and B to the window sash and frame.

3. Insert the window slider assembly into the window opening. Attach the Window Kit Brace if needed.

4. Cut and insert non-adhesive foam seal C to match the window height.

5. If desired, install the security bracket with 2 screws.

6. Attach the Sliding Window Adapter on the hose to the hole in the window slider.

When the unit is in heat mode, the Air Hose insulator must be fixed to the hose:

1. Cover the Air Hose with the Air Hose insulator.

2. Pull out the Air Hose and cut the useless part of the Air Hose insulator.

3. Tighten the air hose with the Ribbons and cut the useless part.

Safety Precautions for Cleaning:

• Always unplug the unit before cleaning or servicing.

• Do not use flammable liquids or chemicals to clean the unit.

• Do not wash the unit under running water.

• Do not operate the machine if the power supply was damaged during cleaning.

Air Filter Cleaning:

• Clean the air filter every 2 weeks for optimal performance. Take out the upper filter to clean it.

• Do not operate the unit without a filter, as dirt and lint will clog it.

Maintenance Tips:

• Drain the water collection tray immediately after a P1 error occurs and before storage.

• In households with animals, periodically wipe down the grill to prevent blocked airflow due to animal hair.

Unit Cleaning:

• Clean the unit with a soft cloth only. Do not use strong detergents containing wax or thinners as they may damage the product.

1. Drain the unit’s water collection tray completely.

2. Run the unit on FAN mode for 12 hours in a warm room to dry it and prevent mold.

3. Turn off the unit and unplug it.

4. Clean the air filter according to the instructions and reinstall the clean, dry filter before storing.

5. Remove the batteries from the remote control.

6. Store the unit in a cool, dark place. Exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat can shorten its lifespan.

NOTICE: Do not add an extension to the exhaust hose(s)!

Handling the Remote:

• Use the remote control within 26 ft (8m) of the air conditioner, pointing it towards the unit. The unit will beep when it receives a signal.

• The air conditioner will not operate if curtains, doors, or other materials block the signals from the remote.

• Prevent any liquid from spilling onto the remote. Do not expose it to direct sunlight or heat.

• If other electrical appliances react to the remote, either move them or consult your local dealer.

Inserting and Replacing Batteries:

1. Slide the back cover from the remote control downward to expose the battery compartment.

2. Insert two AAA batteries, matching the (+) and (-) ends with the symbols inside the compartment.

3. Slide the battery cover back into place.

Battery Notes: Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types. Remove batteries if you don’t plan on using the device for more than 2 months.

• ON/OFF: Turns the unit on or off.

• MODE: Switches operating modes: Auto → Cool → Dry → Heat → Fan.

• TEMP ∧: Increases temperature in 1°F (1°C) increments. Max temperature is 86°F (30°C).

• TEMP ∨: Decreases temperature in 1°F (1°C) increments. Min temperature is 60°F (16°C).

• FAN SPEED: Switches fan speed: Auto → Low → Medium → High.

• SWING: Starts and stops the horizontal louver movement.

• SLEEP: Saves energy during sleeping hours.

• TIMER ON: Sets a timer to turn the unit on.

• TIMER OFF: Sets a timer to turn the unit off.

• SET: Scrolls through operation functions: Comfort sense (signal icon) → AP mode (Wi-Fi icon). Press OK to confirm.

• OK: Press to send the desired settings to the AC unit.

• SHORTCUT: Used to restore the current settings or resume previous settings.

• LED: Turns the unit’s LED display and control panel beeps on or off.

• °C/°F: Changes the temperature units between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

• Transmission Indicator: Lights up when the remote sends a signal to the indoor unit.

• MODE display: Shows the current mode (AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, FAN).

• TIMER ON/OFF display: Shows if the ON or OFF timer is active.

• FAN SPEED display: Shows the selected fan speed (LOW, MED, HIGH, AUTO).

• LOCK display: Appears when the LOCK feature is activated.

• Temperature/Timer/Fan speed display: Shows the set temperature by default. When using TIMER ON/OFF, it shows the timer setting. The display is blank when operating in FAN mode.

• Sleep mode display (moon icon): Appears when Sleep mode is active.

• Comfort sense feature display (person with signal icon): Appears when Comfort Sense is active.

• Wireless control feature display (Wi-Fi icon): Appears during wireless setup.

• Low battery detection display (battery icon): Flashes when batteries are low.

TIMER ON SETTING:

1. Press the TIMER ON button to initiate the ON time sequence.

2. Press the up or down button multiple times to set the desired time to turn on the unit.

3. Point the remote at the unit and wait 1 second; the TIMER ON will be activated.

TIMER OFF SETTING:

1. Press the TIMER OFF button to initiate the OFF time sequence.

2. Press the up or down button multiple times to set the desired time to turn off the unit.

3. Point the remote at the unit and wait 1 second; the TIMER OFF will be activated.

NOTICE:

• When setting the timer, the time increases by 30-minute increments up to 10 hours. After 10 hours, it increases in 1-hour increments up to 24.

• To cancel either function, set its timer to 0.0h.

TIMER ON & OFF Setting (Example):

You can set both an ON and OFF timer. The time periods you set refer to hours after the current time. For example, if it is 1:00 PM, and you set TIMER ON to 2.5h and TIMER OFF to 5.0h, the unit will turn on at 3:30 PM and turn off at 6:00 PM.

Due to a new federal test procedure, cooling capacity claims on portable air conditioner packaging produced after 2017 are significantly lower than on older models. This is due to changes in the test procedure, not the air conditioners themselves. The actual cooling capacity has not changed.

What is SACC?

SACC is the representative value of Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity, in Btu/h, as determined in accordance with the DOE test procedure at title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 430, subpart B, appendix CC and applicable sampling plans.
