What are the key safety instructions for using the MICAN 60412 extractor hood?
To ensure safe operation of your MICAN 60412, please follow these instructions carefully:
• The appliance is designed for household use only.
• Do not use the cooker hood for purposes other than removing cooking odours.
• In extraction mode, connect the hood to a suitable ventilation duct. Do not connect it to smoke or flue gas ducts that are in use.
• In air recirculation mode, an activated charcoal filter must be installed.
• Before installing, ensure the wall/ceiling structure is strong enough to suspend the hood.
• For installation distance above a hob, refer to the product technical sheet. If the gas cooker instructions specify a greater distance, that must be taken into account.
• Do not leave an open flame under the hood. When pots are removed, set the flame to its minimum.
• Constantly supervise pans when cooking on fat, as overheated fat can ignite.
• Unplug the appliance before cleaning, replacing the filter, or any repair work.
• The grease filter should be cleaned at least once a month as it is flammable when saturated with fat.
• Ensure adequate room ventilation if other fuel-burning appliances are also in use.
• Do not lean on the hood.
• Clean the hood regularly, inside and out, at least once a month. Failure to do so poses a fire risk.
• If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a specialized service center.
• Ensure the appliance can be disconnected from the mains via the plug or a bi-polar switch.
• Check that the voltage on the nameplate corresponds to your local mains supply.
• Keep packaging materials away from children during unpacking.
• Before connecting to the mains, ensure the power cord is properly installed and not trapped.
• Do not operate the hood without the aluminium grease filters.
• It is strictly forbidden to flambé (cook with an open flame) under the hood.
• Failure to install screws or fixing devices in accordance with these instructions may result in electrical hazards.
• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and older and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
How do I operate the controls on the MICAN 60412 extractor hood?
The control panel on your MICAN 60412 is equipped with rocker switch buttons, which become accessible once you eject the retractable front panel.
The telescopic hood has a limit switch. Every time you eject the retractable front panel, the hood fan will automatically start at the speed that was previously set.
To control the lighting, press the light button to turn it on or off. The lighting operates independently of the hood fan.
Depending on the model, the limit switch may also turn off the lights when you retract the front panel.
What are the available fan speeds on the MICAN 60412 and when should I use them?
The MICAN 60412 has several speed settings available when the retractable front panel is ejected:
• I – Low speed: Use this speed when cooking food that produces hardly any fumes.
• II – Medium speed: Use this speed for cooking multiple dishes at the same time with a moderate amount of fumes.
• III – High speed: Use this speed for frying or grilling, which produces a large amount of fumes.
• O – Off: With this setting, ejecting the retractable front panel will not start the fan.
As a general rule, the lowest and medium fan speeds are for normal conditions and less intense odours. The highest speed should be used only when cooking odours are very intense, such as during frying or grilling.
What are the different operating modes of the MICAN 60412?
Your MICAN 60412 extractor hood can operate in two different modes:
1. Air extraction operation: In this mode, the hood operates to discharge air outside through an extraction duct. The activated charcoal filter must be removed for this setting. The hood is connected to the air outlet using a rigid or flexible extraction duct (150 or 120 mm in diameter). This installation should be performed by a qualified installer.
2. Air circulation / odour filter mode: In this mode, the filtered air is returned to the room through outlets. You must install an activated charcoal filter for this setting. It is also recommended to install an air guide. For telescopic and in-built hoods operating in this mode, an exhaust duct must be installed to direct the filtered air back into the room.
What are the general cleaning instructions for the MICAN 60412?
For regular maintenance and cleaning of your MICAN 60412, please follow these guidelines:
• Do not use a soaked cloth, sponge, or water jet.
• Do not use solvents or alcohol, as they may tarnish lacquered surfaces.
• Do not use caustic substances, especially when cleaning stainless steel.
• Do not use a rough or abrasive cloth.
• It is recommended to use a damp cloth and a neutral detergent for cleaning.
Note: After several washes in a dishwasher, the colour of the aluminium filter may change. This change in colour does not indicate any issues or the need for replacement.
How do I clean or replace the filter on my MICAN 60412?
Your MICAN 60412 uses a grease filter and may use an activated charcoal filter depending on the operating mode.
Grease Filter:
For normal operation, the grease filter should be cleaned every month. You can clean it in the dishwasher or by hand using a mild detergent or liquid soap.
Acrylic Filter (some models):
If your model uses an acrylic filter, it should be replaced at least once every 2 months, or more frequently if the appliance is used intensively.
Activated Charcoal Filter:
This filter is used only when the hood is not connected to a ventilation duct (recirculation mode). It absorbs odours until saturated and is not suitable for washing or regeneration. It should be replaced at least once every 3-4 months, or more frequently with intensive use.
How do I replace the lights on the MICAN 60412?
To replace the lights on your MICAN 60412, use incandescent, halogen, or LED modules with the same specifications as the ones that were factory-installed in the appliance. The manual provides a diagram (Figure 7) that shows details on how to replace the lights.
