The MEIJI LABAX BMK series stereo microscopes consist of two converging optical paths that are combined as a unit to focus simultaneously on the same object. Each body tube is fitted with Porro prisms to erect the image, and matched objective and widefield eyepiece to furnish a very wide and flat field of view. Each eye observes the object from a different perspective, giving deep stereoscopic relief in the combined image.

The MEIJI LABAX BMK series widefield stereo microscopes are usually supplied in a styrofoam container. Remove the instrument from its container by grasping the optical head with one hand, and supporting the base with the other. Place the microscope on a flat surface, and clamp the safety collar and cross-arm firmly. Do not discard any packing material until the instrument has been checked against the packing list. Sometimes small components are packed in the styrofoam container.

Two height adjustments are necessary to make the stereo ready for use. Position the crossarm or support arm and clamp in place. Then focus on the specimen using the focusing controls. Now clamp the safety collar in place.

The distance between the eyetubes can be adjusted to suit each individual user. Take both prism houses in your hands, while looking through the eyepieces, and rotate until a single image is formed.

All models have paired objectives in sliding mounts, and optional eyepieces. To change the magnification, hold the objective housing between finger and thumb and slide to the right. The replacement objective is mounted in the reverse manner.

The eyeshields fit over the eyepieces, to exclude stray light, and to protect the users spectacles.

Both series are fitted with a 12V 10W illuminator that is attached to the optical head. The transformer is built into the heavy base, and controlled by an On/Off switch. PLEASE ENSURE that your mains voltage agrees with the voltage indicated on the base of the microscope. The replacement bulb is MA560 6V 1.2A.

Your MEIJI LABAX BMK microscope is a precision instrument, and with normal care and a minimum of maintenance should serve you for a lifetime. Regular cleaning after use will prevent a build up of dust and other contaminants.

Eyepiece and objective lenses should never be wiped when dry. Remove loose dust using a camel hair brush. Stubborn dirt should be removed by using lens tissue moistened with an approved lens cleaning fluid. Lenses should never be disassembled by anyone other than a qualified and authorized technician.

The finish on the microscope stand is a hard acid resistant epoxy, and is extremely durable. A soft cloth with a household cleaner is all that is necessary to keep it clean.

Periodic servicing by a qualified service technician is recommended to keep your MEIJI LABAX BMK microscope in good operating condition. The frequency of this routine preventive maintenance and cleaning depends on the amount of use the instrument is given.
