What is the Shock Fire Hazard Service Test and how is it performed?

CAUTION: After servicing this appliance and prior to returning to the customer, perform this mandatory test.

Procedure:

1. Ensure the unit is NOT connected to AC mains.

2. Turn the unit’s Power switch ON.

3. Measure the resistance between either primary AC cord connector pin and the face or front Panel of the product, controls, and chassis bottom.

Requirement: The resistance measurement must be greater than 1 Megohm.

If the resistance is less than 1 Megohm, the unit must be repaired and corrected before AC power is applied, and verified before return to the user/customer.

(Ref. UL Standard No. 1270. Para. 66. 3. D – Mandatory Test after servicing Electrical Appliances, effective 7-1-83).
