To determine the operating mode of the TV, press MENU on the Installer Remote. The menu displayed depends on the operating mode.

Function Menu Appears: If a menu like “ASPECT RATIO” appears (the Function Menu), the TV is in a mode such as FTG or PPV that does not allow the end user to change the fundamental TV setup. In this mode, Installer Menu settings can be accessed as read-only.

TV Setup Menus Appear: If a grid of icons appears (CHANNEL, PICTURE, AUDIO, TIME, etc.), the TV is in Pass-through Mode, which allows for full setup changes.

The Express Script Installer Menu Wizard guides you through setting up essential items for hospital TV viewing applications. The wizard appears each time the TV is turned ON until the configuration is completed or exited. Use the Installer Remote for all selections.

Before You Begin:

If you plan to create a customized Master TV Setup or use a TLX file for cloning, exit the Express Script to avoid conflicts. The wizard is intended for individual TV setup or TLL cloning only.

If the wizard does not display, you may need to perform an “IN-STOP” to restore factory defaults. Do NOT unplug the power cord or remove antenna/LAN cables during the process.

Step 1: Initiate or Exit

On the “Installer Menu Wizard” screen, you have two options:

1. To proceed, highlight Express Script and press OK.

2. To exit without configuration, highlight Exit and press OK. Confirm by selecting OK again.

Step 2: Configure Pro:Centric Settings

This screen sets up the Pro:Centric feature. The default is Auto Search for the Data Channel and “Configuration Only” for the mode.

1. For RF Configuration: Set Media Type to RF. Enter the Data Channel number (1-135) used by the Pro:Centric server.

2. For IP Configuration: Set Media Type to IP. Enter the Pro:Centric server’s IP address and Port number.

3. Pro:Centric Mode: Select the appropriate Application Mode (GEM, FLASH, or Configuration Only).

4. Once complete, select Next and press OK to continue with TV configuration, or select Done and press OK to save and exit the wizard.

Step 3: Complete the TV Configuration

1. Select Tuning Band: Choose Cable Standard (default), Cable HRC, Cable IRC, or Air. Select Next and press OK.

2. Select Aux Inputs: You can select “Use Default Values” to enable all Aux inputs, or “Customize Inputs” to enable/disable specific ones. Press OK and then select Next.

3. Select Speaker Configuration: Choose Pillow Only (default), TV Only, or Pillow & TV. Select Next and press OK.

4. Select Pillow Speaker Code: Accept the Zenith code default or select the appropriate option for your pillow speaker. Select Next and press OK.

5. Channel Access: Choose whether to allow direct access to channels outside the channel lineup. Selecting “No” is recommended to prevent end-users from accessing channel settings. Select Next and press OK.

6. Run Auto Search (Auto Tuning): Select Execute Auto Search and press OK to scan for all available channels. This is a required step. If you do not run the Auto Search, no channels will be in the channel lineup. When the scan is complete, press OK to close the pop-up.

7. Edit the Channel Map: Select Edit Channel Map and press OK. A pop-up window will appear where you can:

– Add/delete channels.

– Select channel icons.

– Add custom text labels.

– Set up channel banks.

The maximum number of channels (analog, digital, Aux) is 141. Edit the list to ensure you do not exceed this limit. When finished, press MENU to close the pop-up, then select Next and press OK.

8. Completion: The TV saves your settings and transfers the setup to the commercial controller (PTC). When this step is complete, the wizard closes.

This procedure allows you to create a customized Master TV Setup for cloning purposes when the TV is in Pass-through Mode.

Step 1. Turn ON the TV

If the Express Script Installer Menu Wizard appears, exit the wizard.

Step 2. Set Installer Menu Items

a) Access the PTC Installer Menu.

b) If the TV is not in a factory default state, set Installer Menu item 117 FACT DEFAULT to 1 and press OK. This clears all custom settings and restores factory defaults.

c) Set Installer Menu item 003 BAND/AFC as appropriate (e.g., CATV: Set to 1).

d) Set Installer Menu item 027 HOSPITAL MODE to select the appropriate speaker configuration.

e) Set any other required Installer Menu items (e.g., enable/disable Aux inputs, set Start Channel).

f) After adjusting all items, press OK once to save changes, then press OK again to exit the menu.

Step 3. Set Up TV Features

Press MENU on the Installer Remote to access the TV setup menus. Set Channel, Picture, Audio, and other options to your desired configurations.

Step 4. (PTC Cloning Only / Optional) Run Auto Tuning

a) Access the Channel Menu, select Auto Tuning, and follow the on-screen instructions.

b) Use Channel Edit to add/delete channels as needed.

c) Use Channel Label to select trademark icons for channels.

Step 5. (PTC Cloning Only) Transfer Setup to the PTC

a) Tune to the channel (source) for which you wish to transfer the TV setup menu settings.

b) Access the Installer Menu and press 2-5-5 + MENU on the Installer Remote. This initiates the transfer of the Master TV Setup to the PTC. The TV will tune through the channels in the lineup during the transfer.

Step 6. (PTC Cloning Only / Optional) Add Custom Labels

Access the Installer Menu and press 2-5-4 + MENU. This allows you to add/edit custom text labels and change icons for the on-screen display. When finished, press MENU to exit.

Step 7. Verify the TV Setup

Make sure all TV features, channel lineup, icons, and labels are set correctly.

Step 8. Set Up Channel Banks

Set up channel banks as desired. This must be done before locking the channel lineup.

Step 9. (Recommended) Lock the Channel Lineup

Access the Installer Menu, set item 028 CH. OVERIDE to 0, and press OK to lock the lineup and restrict user access to channel settings. Press OK again to save and exit.

The Master TV Setup is now ready to be saved to a USB memory device for cloning.

Cloning involves capturing a Master TV Setup and transferring it to a Target TV. There are two methods: using a TLX file or a TLL file. Both require the Master and Target TVs to be identical models and in Pass-through Mode.

Learning / Teaching a Master TV Setup using a TLX File

A TLX file clones Installer Menu settings, IP Environment Menu settings, and all TV sources’ clonable setup menu settings. It is not intended for cloning an auto-tuned channel lineup.

Learn Setup from Master TV:

1. Ensure the Master TV is fully set up and in Pass-through Mode.

2. Insert a USB memory device into the Master TV’s USB port.

3. Press MENU, navigate to the Option menu icon, and press the number “7” key seven times to display the TV Manager / USB Download Menu.

4. Key in 9-8-7-6 on the Installer Remote to access the “Learn From TV” options.

5. Use the arrow keys to select Learn From TV (TLX) and press OK.

6. In the Learn From TV (TLX) window, you can change the last five digits of the filename. Press OK to start Learning. Do not remove the USB device until the process is complete.

7. When Learning is done, exit the menu and remove the USB device.

Teach Master TV Setup to Target TV:

1. Turn ON the Target TV. If the Express Script wizard appears, exit it.

2. Access the Target TV’s Installer Menu and set item 117 FACT DEFAULT to 1, then press OK to restore factory settings. Exit the Installer Menu.

3. If using the TV Zoning feature, assign the correct Zone designation to the Target TV.

4. Insert the USB device with the TLX file into the Target TV’s USB port.

5. Access the TV Manager / USB Download Menu as described in step 3 of the “Learn” process.

6. Select Teach To TV (TLX) and press OK.

7. Select the Master TV Setup file you want to install and press OK to begin the Teaching process.

8. Do not remove the USB device until Teaching is complete.

9. Remove the USB device and verify the settings are now on the Target TV.

Learning / Teaching a Master TV Setup using a TLL File

A TLL file clones the contents of the commercial controller (PTC), which includes an auto-tuned/edited channel lineup, Installer Menu settings, and one TV source’s clonable settings.

The steps for Learning and Teaching with a TLL file are identical to the TLX file process, except you will select Learn From TV (TLL) and Teach To TV (TLL) in the respective menus.

The Installer Menu is used to set up, change, or view operational settings of the TV.

Accessing the Installer Menu:

1. Turn ON the TV. If the Express Script wizard appears, exit it.

2. Using an Installer Remote, press MENU repeatedly until the on-screen display stops toggling.

3. Press the Installer Menu entry sequence (default is 9-8-7-6) followed by OK.

Note: If the password is incorrect, “ENTER PASSWORD 0000” will be displayed. If the TV is not in Pass-through Mode, the Installer Menu is accessible as read-only.

Using the Installer Menu:

Navigation:

– Use the Up/Down arrow keys to sequence through menu items.

– To access an item directly, key in its three-digit number and press MENU (e.g., for item 015, press 0-1-5 + MENU).

Changing Settings:

– Use the Left/Right arrow keys or direct number entry to change an item’s value.

– To save the new setting, press OK or navigate to another item.

Exiting and Activating Settings:

1. After adjusting all required settings, press OK once to save all your changes.

2. Press OK again to exit the Installer Menu. Changes are stored in non-volatile memory.

Channel Banks enable tiered channel programming. The LG 22LY560M is configured with four channel banks (1, 2, 3, and 4). Channel banks are not supported on TVs in FTG Mode.

Before You Begin:

– Complete the Express Script Installer Menu Wizard or the Custom Master TV Setup procedure.

– Ensure Installer Menu item 028 CH. OVERIDE is set to 1 to allow access for channel banks setup.

Accessing and Using the Channel Preview/Banks Setup Menu:

1. Press CH. BANK on the Installer Remote repeatedly to select the desired channel bank (1, 2, 3, or 4).

2. Once the desired bank is selected, press CH. PREVIEW to display the Channel Preview/Banks Setup Menu.

3. Use the Channel Up/Down arrows to navigate to a specific channel.

4. Use the Left/Right arrows to select the channel status for that channel within the selected bank.

Channel Status Options:

– NORMAL-ADDED: Channel will appear in the channel lineup of the currently selected bank.

– NORMAL-DELETED: Channel will not appear in the channel lineup of the currently selected bank.

– BLANK-ADDED: Channel will appear in all banks with audio but no video (black screen).

– BLANK-DELETED: Channel will not appear in the currently selected bank and will be assigned BLANK-ADDED status in all other banks.

Creating an Inactive TV Setup:

To create an “Inactive TV Call Attendant” message on Channel Bank 4, you can either:

1. Select NORMAL-DELETED for each channel in Channel Bank 4.

2. Or, with Channel Bank 4 selected, press CH. PREVIEW to display the setup menu, then press the SAP key on the Installer Remote to automatically delete all channels in that bank.

Configuring a TV for FTG Mode is done by transferring (Teaching) an FTG Configuration (.tlx) file from a USB memory device to the TV. This file can be created using the FTG File Manager PC software or Learned from a properly configured Master TV.

Before You Begin:

– Ensure the USB device is formatted with FAT.

– If you are using the TV Zoning feature, the Zone designation must be assigned in the Target TV BEFORE Teaching begins.

Teach FTG Configuration to Target TV:

1. Turn ON the Target TV. If the Express Script wizard appears, exit it.

2. If the TV is in Pass-through Mode and you are using a zoned configuration file, assign the correct Zone designation in the TV’s Option menu.

3. Insert the USB memory device containing the FTG Configuration (.tlx) file into the TV’s USB port.

4. Press MENU on the Installer Remote to display the TV setup menus (or Function Menu if already in FTG Mode).

5. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Option menu icon (or Lock icon in Function Menu) and press the number “7” key seven times to open the TV Manager / USB Download Menu.

6. Select Teach To TV (TLX) and press OK.

7. In the Teach To TV (TLX) window, use the arrow keys to select the FTG Configuration file you want to install.

8. At the right side of the window, select the desired Channel Tuning / Channel Banner Display option. Use the green button for Logical tuning or the yellow button for Physical tuning. Logical tuning is the default.

9. Press OK to start the Teaching process. Do NOT remove the USB device until the transfer is complete.

10. When complete, remove the USB device and verify the configuration is now resident on the TV. The Target TV will now be in FTG Mode.

The IP Environment Menu allows you to set up the network features of the TV. Settings are editable only when the TV is in Pass-through Mode.

Accessing the IP Environment Menu:

1. Access the Installer Menu.

2. Navigate to Installer Menu item 119 DATA CHANNEL and press 2-5-3 + MENU to launch the IP Environment Menu.

Configuring the Network Connection:

1. In the IP Environment Menu, select Network Connection and press OK.

2. Connect the LAN cable to the TV if not already done. Select Start Connection and press OK.

3. The TV defaults to DHCP. If it connects successfully, a “Wired network is connected” message will appear. Select Complete to finish, or Set Expert to configure a static IP.

4. In the Set Expert screen, you can manually configure IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Server. After entering the details, select OK.

5. Once the connection is confirmed, select Complete to return to the IP Environment Menu.

Checking Network Status:

Select Network Status from the IP Environment Menu to see the connection status of the TV, Gateway, DNS, and Internet, along with the current network configuration data (MAC Address, IP Address, etc.).

Configuring Pro:Centric Setup:

1. In the IP Environment Menu, select Pro:Centric and press OK.

2. Configure the settings to match your Pro:Centric server:

– Mode: Select Off, FLASH, or GEM for the application mode.

– Media Type: Select RF or IP.

– For RF: Enter the Data Channel number (0-135). A value of 255 enables Auto Search.

– For IP: Enter the Server IP address and Port Number.

– Update Event: Turn On or Off the Wake For Update feature and set the Update Time if enabled.

3. When all fields are complete, select Close and press OK to return to the IP Environment Menu.

When you have finished all configurations, press EXIT to leave the IP Environment Menu.

You can use a USB memory device to upgrade the TV’s CPU or PTC software and to download a custom splash screen image.

Before You Begin:

– Ensure the USB device is formatted with FAT.

– Software upgrade files and splash screen image files must be stored in a folder named “LG_DTV” in the root directory of the USB device.

– A splash screen image must be a baseline JPEG, no larger than 1 MB. The maximum resolution is 1360 x 768 pixels.

Procedure:

1. Turn ON the TV and insert the USB memory device into the TV’s USB port.

2. Press MENU on the Installer Remote to display the TV menus.

3. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Option menu icon (or Lock icon if in FTG Mode) and press the number “7” key seven times to open the TV Manager / USB Download Menu.

4. From the TV Manager menu, use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the desired action:

– Upgrade TV Software (for CPU software)

– Upgrade PTC Software

– Logo Image Download (for splash screen)

5. Press OK.

6. In the next window, use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the specific file to download, and then press OK.

7. A progress bar will appear. Do NOT remove the USB device or unplug the TV until the update/download is complete.

8. When the process is finished, the TV will display an “Updating complete” window and then automatically restart.

The method for restoring factory defaults depends on the TV’s current operating mode.

If the TV is in Pass-through Mode:

You can set Installer Menu item 117 FACT DEFAULT to 1. This will restore the Installer Menu factory defaults and clear the channel lineup, including any assigned channel icons and custom text labels.

If the TV is in FTG Mode:

Restoring factory defaults will also reset the TV to Pass-through Mode.

1. Factory “IN-STOP”: A predefined value for Installer Menu item 117 FACT DEFAULT enables a factory “IN-STOP” process that restores all factory defaults and reactivates the Express Script Installer Menu Wizard. You must contact technical support for this predefined value.

2. Using a “Zero Mapped Channels” File: You can create a special FTG Configuration (.tlx) file that contains no data. “Teaching” this file to the TV will restore it to Pass-through Mode.

– For a single TV: Use a USB memory device to “Teach” the “Zero Mapped Channels” file to the TV.

– For multiple TVs (with a Pro:Centric server): Use the Pro:Centric server Admin Client to load the “Zero Mapped Channels” file onto the server for remote deployment.

The TV Zoning feature allows you to create localized configurations for TVs in different areas or “Zones” (e.g., lobby, fitness center). This is primarily used with FTG Mode but can also be used with TLX cloning. A TV can only be set to one Zone (1-8). Zone 0 is the default.

Set the TV Zone # in the TV:

This procedure can only be performed while the TV is in Pass-through Mode.

1. Turn ON the TV.

2. Press MENU on the Installer Remote, use the arrow keys to highlight the OPTION menu, and press OK.

3. Use the Up/Down arrows to select Zone, and then press OK.

4. In the Zone pop-up window, use the Left/Right arrow keys to select the desired TV Zone # (1-8). Press OK.

5. Press MENU to return to TV viewing.

Once the Zone # is set, the TV will receive the specific configuration intended for that Zone when an FTG configuration file is taught to it, or it will apply the zoned profile from a learned TLX file during cloning. If the FTG Channel Map has channel restrictions for that Zone, those channels will be omitted from the lineup.

Rear Jack Panel

• RESET/UPDATE/SERVICE ONLY: These ports are restricted for software updates and service. The RESET button initiates a hardware reset.
• MPI: (Multiple Protocol Interface) When the TV is in Pass-through Mode, this port enables an external control device to control the TV.
• LAN: Use for network connection (e.g., for Pro:Centric data).
• OPTICAL AUDIO OUT: Use for connecting to amplifiers and home theater systems. This port is not enabled when the TV is OFF.
• HDMI IN 1: Connection for HDMI output from an external device.
• RGB IN (PC): Connection for RGB output from a PC.
• SPEAKER OUT / LINE OUT (3.5 mm jack): Connect external audio equipment (fixed speaker, variable speaker, or fixed line level amplifier).
• PILLOW SPEAKER: Connect a pillow speaker here.
• ANTENNA/CABLE IN: Connect to an Antenna or CATV source.

Side Jack Panel

• USB IN: Insert a USB memory device for software updates, cloning, FTG Mode configuration, or picture/music entertainment.
• HDMI IN 2 (MHL): Connection for HDMI output from an external device.
• AV IN/AUDIO IN (RGB DVI) (3.5 mm jack): Connect video/audio output from an external device using the provided A/V adapter cable, or connect audio for an RGB or DVI device.

• POWER: Turns the TV On or Off.
• MENU: Displays and removes the TV setup menus or Function Menu.
• NUMBER Buttons (0-9) & DASH: Used to enter channel numbers.
• FLASHBK (Flashback): Returns to the previously tuned channel.
• CHANNEL UP/DOWN: Changes channels.
• VOLUME UP/DOWN: Increases/decreases the sound level.
• Arrows & OK: Used to navigate on-screen menus and adjust settings.
• PORTAL: Displays and removes the Pro:Centric interactive menu.
• INFO: Displays channel information.
• GUIDE: Displays and removes the Pro:Centric channel guide/EPG.
• (RETURN): Returns one level to the previous menu/display.
• Color buttons: Access special functions in some menus.
• CC: Activates subtitles.
• SAP: Selects MTS sound (Mono, Stereo, SAP) for analog channels or changes the audio language for digital channels.
• CH. BANK: Selects Channel Bank 1, 2, 3, or 4 when Hospital Mode is enabled. Otherwise, it displays available Aux inputs.
• CH. PREVIEW: Displays and exits the Channel Preview/Banks Setup Menu.
• MUTE: Switches sound On or Off.
• TIMER: Sets the sleep timer.
• ALARM: Schedules a one-time “alarm” event.
• EXIT: Clears all on-screen displays and returns to TV viewing.

If there is no picture on your LG 22LY560M, check the following possible causes and solutions:

Possible Causes:

– The TV is turned OFF.

– The antenna/cable is not connected.

– Connections are incorrect.

– The MPI (Multiple Protocol Interface) is not connected, if applicable.

– The program is encrypted.

Solutions:

– Turn the TV ON. Check for a power failure.

– Connect the antenna/cable signal securely to the TV.

– Check all connections on the TV.

– If applicable, connect the MPI cable to the MPI device.

– Try another channel to see if it is a signal issue.

If you have a good picture but issues with the sound, check the following:

Possible Causes:

– The audio is muted.

– The pillow/TV speaker is not configured properly.

Solutions:

– Press the MUTE button or use the Volume Up key to increase the sound level.

– Check that Installer Menu items 020 FEATURE LEVEL and 027 HOSPITAL MODE are set as required for your speaker setup. If applicable, select the correct TV Speaker option in the Audio Menu.

The ability to direct enter a channel number depends on the TV’s operating mode and settings.

If the TV is in Pass-through Mode:

The channel lineup may be locked. This is a recommended setting to prevent unauthorized changes. To allow direct entry to all channels, you must access the Installer Menu and set item 028 CH. OVERIDE to 1.

If the TV is in FTG Mode:

Channel access is restricted to only the channels included in the FTG Channel Map. If the channel you are trying to enter is not in the map, you cannot tune to it. If necessary, you must use the FTG File Manager PC software to make changes to the FTG Channel Map and then re-apply the configuration to the TV.

If the installer remote is not working, please check the following common issues:

• Remote not aimed at IR sensor: Point the remote directly at the TV’s IR receiver on the TV.
• Too far from sensor: Move the remote closer to the TV’s IR receiver or darken the room.
• IR path obstructed: Remove any obstructions between the remote and the TV.
• Weak batteries: Replace the batteries.
• Wrong battery polarity: Check that the “+” and “-” symbols on the batteries match the markings in the battery compartment.
• Too much ambient light: Dim the room light, as excessive light can interfere with the IR signal.
• Mismatched IR codes: Ensure the Installer Remote is compatible with the TV. The IR codes sent by the remote must match the settings in the TV (e.g., in Installer Menu item 020 FEATURE LEVEL or 027 HOSPITAL MODE).

Follow these steps to determine if the TV is currently in Commercial Mode:

1. Press POWER on the Installer Remote.

2. Did the TV turn ON?

– If Yes, proceed to step 3.

– If No, check if the TV is connected to AC power. If it is not, plug it into an AC power outlet. If it is connected and does not turn on, the TV may be faulty.

3. Leave the TV on and press MENU on the Installer Remote.

4. Does the Function Menu (e.g., a menu with Aspect Ratio) appear on the display?

– If Yes, the TV is in Commercial Mode.

– If No, proceed to step 5.

5. Press MENU repeatedly as if you were trying to access the Installer Menu.

6. Does the on-screen menu display stop toggling (i.e., appearing and disappearing)?

– If Yes, the TV is in Commercial Mode (specifically, Pass-through Mode).

– If No (the TV setup menus continue to appear and disappear with each press), the TV is not in Commercial Mode. Contact Technical Support for assistance.
