How do I set up the components of my LA PAVONI EXPO for the first time?
To set up your LA PAVONI EXPO, follow these steps:
1. Place the grid (8) on the base of the product, making sure that the notch faces towards the body of the machine.
2. Screw the knob onto the lever by turning it clockwise.
What is the initial start-up procedure for my LA PAVONI EXPO?
Before the first use, you need to clean the inside of your LA PAVONI EXPO. Follow these steps:
1. Unscrew the boiler cap (3) by turning it anticlockwise.
2. Prepare a solution of water and two teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda in a container. Wait for it to dissolve completely, then pour the solution into the boiler (9). Alternatively, you can use a solution of water with one tablespoon of white vinegar.
3. Make sure the lever (1) is down; if necessary, pull it down fully.
4. Screw the boiler cap (3) on by turning it clockwise and ensure the cap and the steam knob (4) are properly closed.
5. Place the filter holder (10) into the group head (11) and secure it by moving it from right to left.
6. Insert the power plug into a suitable electric socket.
7. Place the switch (6) to ON and wait for the machine to reach the required pressure (approximately 5 minutes).
8. Place a container under the group head (11) and slowly lift the lever (1) until it is fully raised. Hold it in this position to discharge all the water from the boiler.
9. Switch the machine off and remove the power plug. Turn the steam knob (4) anticlockwise and wait until all the steam has discharged from the steam pipe (12).
10. Fill the boiler again with clean water and rinse the inside to eliminate any residues from the solution.
How do I start my LA PAVONI EXPO for regular use?
To start your LA PAVONI EXPO for daily coffee making, please follow these instructions:
1. Fill the boiler (9) with a sufficient quantity of water for the amount of coffee you wish to make. The machine has a capacity of 1.6 litres, equivalent to 16 cups of espresso coffee. The water should not exceed the top of the level glass (5) or fall below the lower part.
2. Press the switch (6). It will light up to indicate that the machine is powered. At the same time, the indicator light (7) will also switch on, indicating the heating element is activated.
3. When the pointer of the pressure gauge (13) reaches the green zone, slowly open the steam knob (4) by turning it anticlockwise to discharge the “false pressure” caused by air left in the boiler. Then close it by turning it clockwise and wait for the pointer to move back into the green zone.
4. The machine has now reached the correct pressure and is ready for use. It is normal for the light (7) to switch on and off as the pressure switch automatically regulates the boiler pressure.
Note: If the LA PAVONI EXPO runs out of water during operation, the safety thermostat will trigger and disconnect power. The thermostat will need to be reset (see troubleshooting).
How do I dispense coffee with my LA PAVONI EXPO?
To brew coffee with your LA PAVONI EXPO, follow this procedure:
1. Select the correct filter basket, small (16a) for 1 cup or large (16) for 2 cups, and place it into the filter holder (10). Insert the filter holder and wait for the machine to reach the correct temperature.
2. Once the machine is at the right temperature, remove the filter holder (10) and fill the filter basket with ground coffee using the provided measuring scoop (15). Use one scoop per cup.
3. Press the coffee using the tamper (14) and clean any residue from the edge of the filter (Fig. A).
4. Hold the machine steady by the handgrip of the lever (1) and insert the filter holder (10) into the group head (11). Secure it by turning it slightly from right to left.
5. Position your cup(s) under the spouts of the filter holder.
6. Move the lever (1) upwards while holding the filter holder handle with your other hand to keep the machine steady. Hold it in this position for a few seconds (Fig. C).
7. Lower the lever as far as it will go to dispense the coffee (Fig. D). Repeat this for the desired amount of coffee.
8. After preparing the coffee, leave the lever (1) in the down (rest) position and switch the machine off.
Tip: After dispensing 3-4 consecutive coffees, wait a few minutes to allow the group head to return to the right temperature to avoid dispensing burnt coffee.
How do I refill the boiler on my LA PAVONI EXPO when it runs out of water?
Once the water in the boiler has run out, refill your LA PAVONI EXPO as follows:
1. Place the switch (6) in the off position before unscrewing the boiler cap (3).
2. Slowly turn the steam knob (4) anticlockwise and wait for all the steam in the boiler to be discharged from the steam pipe (12).
3. Remove the filter holder (10) and slowly lift the lever (1). Keep the lever up to allow steam and water to discharge through the group head. Use a container to collect the hot steam and water, being careful to avoid scalding.
4. When the steam and water stop discharging, slowly unscrew the boiler cap (3). Then fill the boiler.
5. Before screwing the boiler cap (3) back on, move the lever (1) to the rest position and close the steam knob (4) by turning it clockwise.
Warning: Do not open the boiler cap (3) when the LA PAVONI EXPO is in operation or under pressure to avoid burns. Regularly check the water level through the level glass (5) to prevent the heating element from burning out.
How do I prepare a cappuccino using the steam pipe on my LA PAVONI EXPO?
To make a cappuccino with the standard steam pipe on your LA PAVONI EXPO, follow these steps:
1. First, ensure there is a correct amount of water in the boiler and the machine is at the correct pressure, with the lever (1) in the down (rest) position.
2. Before heating, place a container under the steam pipe (12) and turn the steam knob (4) anticlockwise to eliminate any condensation in the boiler. Then open the knob further to dispense the required amount of steam (Fig. B). When finished, close the knob by turning it clockwise.
3. Half fill a tall, narrow container with the milk to be prepared.
4. Immerse the steam pipe (12) until it touches the bottom of the container and slowly turn the steam knob (4) anticlockwise.
5. Move the container slowly up and down for a few seconds until you obtain a froth.
6. To make a cappuccino, add the hot frothed milk to the coffee that is already in the cup.
How do I install and use the Automatic Cappuccino Maker with my LA PAVONI EXPO?

3. Turn the traditional steam pipe (12) clockwise until it stops, then remove it by pulling it towards the right (Fig. E2).
4. Insert the Automatic Cappuccino maker onto the steam supply nozzle (18), pushing it upwards until it rests against the fitting. Tighten the locking ring by turning it clockwise.
5. Insert the Automatic Cappuccino maker (17) into its seat by pushing it to the left (Fig. F). Turn it anticlockwise until it stops.
6. Using the tool (F), turn the headless screw on the tap body (E) anticlockwise (Fig. E3) to lock the maker in position. Ensure the headless screw (F) is always in the locked position during operation.
Preparation:
1. Once the LA PAVONI EXPO has reached the required pressure, insert the suction tube (20) (B-Fig. F) into a milk container next to the machine.
2. Place the cup with previously prepared coffee under the nozzle of the Automatic Cappuccino maker.
3. Open the steam knob (4) by turning it anticlockwise. This will dispense hot milk with abundant froth.
4. To stop dispensing, close the steam knob (4) by turning it clockwise. You can regulate the froth consistency by adjusting the pin (C) (Fig. F).
