In the event of a range top grease fire, take the following actions:

Smother the flames with a tight fitting lid, cookie sheet, or metal tray, and then turn off the burner. Keep flammable or combustible material away from flames.

If the flames do not go out immediately, evacuate the area and call the fire department or 911.

Never pick up a burning pan, as you may get burned.

Do not use water, including wet dishcloths or towels, because a steam blast will result.

Use an extinguisher only if you have a Class A, B, C extinguisher and know how to operate it, the fire is small and contained in the area where it started, the fire department has been called, and you can fight the fire with your back to an exit.

If you smell gas, take these immediate actions:

Extinguish any open flame.

Do not try to turn on the lights or any type of appliance.

Open all doors and windows to disperse the gas.

If you still smell gas, call the Gas Company and Fire Department right away.

The KOBE CH3836SQBD-1 fan is operated using the Electronic Control buttons:

Press the Power Control to turn the range hood on or off.

The fan will start on Speed 3. Press the button to decrease the speed level or press the button to increase the speed level.

To turn the fan off immediately, press the Power Control button a second time.

To activate the 3-minute delay shutoff on the KOBE CH3836SQBD-1, press and hold the Power Control button. Once the delay shutoff has been activated, the LED display will flash and the fan speed will change to Speed 3. You can adjust the speed level by pressing the increase or decrease buttons during the 3-minute countdown.

Press the Light Control button to turn the LED lights on. Each press of the Light Control button will cycle the light intensity through Bright, Medium Bright, Dim, and OFF.

Note that lights on the KOBE CH3836SQBD-1 are controlled independently from the Power Control and delay shutoff. Turning the power off will not turn the lights off.

ECO Mode is set to turn the fan on the QuietMode setting for 10 minutes every hour to remove excess moisture, microscopic particles, and odors for better kitchen air quality. This mode is independent from the Power Control and delay shutoff.

To activate it, press and hold the ECO Mode button until the E icon briefly appears in the LED display. While the fan is running in ECO Mode, you can change the speed, use delay shutoff, or turn off the fan without disabling ECO Mode. When the fan is off and ECO Mode has been activated, the E icon will appear in the LED display and will flash while ECO Mode is operating on QuietMode. To deactivate, press and hold the ECO Mode control button until the E icon no longer appears in the LED display.

Note that you must open a door or windows to create sufficient make-up air when ECO Mode has been activated. Pressing the Power Control button while ECO Mode is active will activate the regular fan function and the speed will be displayed in the LED display.

To clean the surface of the KOBE CH3836SQBD-1, follow these guidelines:

Never use abrasive cleaners, pads, or cloths.

Use only mild soap or detergent solutions, and dry surfaces using a soft cloth.

If the stainless steel hood looks splotchy, use a stainless steel cleaner. Avoid getting cleaning solution onto or into the control panel. Do not leave the cleaner on for too long as this may damage the finish. Wipe off the cleaner, gently rub off stubborn spots, and use a dry soft towel to dry the hood.

Do not allow deposits to accumulate on the hood, and do not use ordinary steel wool or steel brushes, as small bits of steel may adhere and cause rusting.

Do not allow salt solutions, disinfectants, bleaches, or cleaning compounds to remain in contact with the stainless steel for extended periods.

To clean the baffle filters of the KOBE CH3836SQBD-1, perform the following steps:

Remove all the baffle filters, spacers, and oil tunnel if equipped.

Using a sponge, wash with warm soapy water and dry completely before returning into place. Be careful of sharp edges.

Note that the baffle filters are top rack dishwasher safe. Additionally, drain oil from the baffle filters, spacers, and oil tunnel regularly to prevent overflow.

If the lights on the KOBE CH3836SQBD-1 are working but the motor is not, the possible causes and solutions are:

The motor is defective: Replace the motor.

The capacitor is defective: Replace the capacitor.

The control panel or processor board is defective: Replace the control panel or processing board.

If your KOBE CH3836SQBD-1 is vibrating, check for these issues:

The blower system is not secure: Tighten the turbine impeller, squirrel cage, and air chamber.

The turbine impeller or squirrel cage is not balanced: Replace the turbine impeller or squirrel cage.

The hood is not secured in place: Check the installation of the hood and tighten the mounting bracket.

If the KOBE CH3836SQBD-1 is not venting correctly, consider the following:
