How do I start up the IMV IMAGING CR7 and create a new patient record?

1. Computer on

2. Scanner on

3. Open software (Vet Exam Plus icon)

When the software opens press the ‘log In’ button. A prompt will appear to enter a registration code. Choose to ‘continue unregistered’. If you have purchased the machine and have registered with Durr, this prompt will stop appearing.

• There are 3 main tabs along the top of the screen, at this stage the ‘patient’ tab will be highlighted. Along the top, click on the Patient tab

• Click the ‘+’ to create a new record – button is on the LHS

• Enter ID number, owner name, animal name and species

• Click the ‘save’ button on the LHS (looks like a floppy disk)

Along the top, click the X-ray tab

• Click the tooth you are going to X-ray

• Click the X-ray sign (‘input’ button) at the bottom on the RHS

What is the procedure for preparing and taking an X-ray with the IMV IMAGING CR7?

• Ensure the plate is clean and free from any hairs, then put the plate into the envelope and seal the envelope. Note: Insert the plate into the envelope with the writing facing the clear side of the envelope. You should be able to see the writing on the plate.

• Expose the blue side of the plate (black side of the envelope).

How do I process an exposed plate using the IMV IMAGING CR7 reader?

• Clean any saliva from the envelope then rip off the end of the envelope (the side without the fold) and feed the plate into the reader with the ripped edge downwards and writing towards you. Curve the plate between your thumb and forefinger slightly as the receiving aperture on the developer is slightly curved.

• Place forefinger on the top of the plate in the middle and push down, the plate will begin to move down into the machine and the sheath will stay there. After a few mms the processor will grab the plate from you.

What should I do if the protective sheath goes into the IMV IMAGING CR7 reader with the plate?

If the sheath goes too don’t panic, it will come out. If this happens, the plate will need to go through again as the X-ray will not have been erased.

How do I save and correctly orient images taken with the IMV IMAGING CR7?

• Stay in the X-ray tab (you can ignore or close the ‘toolbox’ pop-up at this stage).

• Name the tooth. Click on an image thumbnail (on the LHS) and then under the image is the tooth number. Click on that and the ‘area choice’ pop-up box appears. Press ‘clear choice’ then select the teeth that you imaged. You can select multiple teeth this time. Then press OK.

• Rotate the image using the arrow rotation icon on the LHS to place in correct orientation i.e. maxillary teeth pointing down, mandibular teeth pointing up. Rotate by 90 degrees at a time. If you rotate by 180 degrees the image might be interpreted incorrectly. Do this for each X-ray to give you the full set.

• Save each image (floppy disk button on LHS).

How can I view multiple X-ray images on the screen at the same time using the IMV IMAGING CR7 software?

• Once you have taken all your X-rays, close the ‘imaging’ pop-up, then click the viewer tab (along the top). Your X-rays will appear in a ‘choose image’ pop up.

• Hold down Ctrl and click on all the images you want (if you have more than one), then drag them onto the screen. The images can be positioned anywhere on the screen.

How can I manipulate images from my IMV IMAGING CR7, such as applying filters or adjusting brightness?

• Double click on the individual image to bring up the tool box.

• At the bottom of the toolbox go to ‘special filters’, then ‘intra’ tab, then ‘endo’ – this gives you the best possible image. This is marked ‘E’ and is the second filter from the RHS.

• To adjust brightness and contrast click on X-ray button within the tool box, then click on the image, then hold down the left mouse button and move in any direction. Moving diagonally up and left usually gives the best picture.

How do I use the zoom, undo, and restore functions in the IMV IMAGING CR7 software?

• Zoom tools: click on the magnifying glass and different ‘zoom’ choices will appear. The 1st one allows you to use left mouse to zoom in and right mouse button to zoom out, the 5th button gives you a magnifying glass (the size of which can be changed).

• Press the X-ray button within the toolbox then click on a different image to manipulate it.

• If at any point you need to undo a change, click the ‘undo’ button (looks like a recycle symbol). If you want to go back to the original image, click the ‘restore image’ button (to the right of the undo button), this gives a number of options for the image you wish to return to.

• Save any changes you wish to keep (floppy disk button on LHS). A pop-up will appear asking if you would like to save changes, click ‘yes’.
