The IDEAL 2245 CC document shredder is intended for shredding paper. Other materials may damage the shredder.

The hardened solid steel blade shafts are insensitive to small amounts of paper clips and staples. This does not apply to models with 0.8 x 12 mm and smaller particle cut. In this case, the paper to be shred must not contain any paper clips or staples.

Depending on the device model, small amounts of CDs, credit and customer cards as well as discs can also be shred.

Please strictly follow these safety instructions when using the IDEAL 2245 CC:

• Read the operating manual before starting the machine for the first time.

• Take care of long hair.

• Do not grasp into the cutting mechanism.

• Take care of ties and other loose pieces of clothing.

• Warning, moving parts!

• No operation by children! This device is not suited for use at locations where children might be present!

• Do not destroy accumulators/batteries!

• Do not use any spray cans with flammable content near to the document shredder!

• Do not use any flammable cleaning agents!

• Caution: parts with sharp corners and edges!

• Remove the plug before cleaning the machine! Do not perform any repairs on the document shredder!

• Ensure free access to the mains power outlet.

• Do not operate the machine without the safety flap.

The IDEAL 2245 CC has an automatic standby that switches off after 15 minutes of inactivity. The machine can be switched off at any time by pressing the power button. When the machine switches off, the Green LED control light will turn off, and there will be no more power consumption.

1. Place the machine head onto the shred bin.

2. Plug the power cord into the wall socket.

1. **Press the rocker switch quickly:** The green light will turn on, and the machine is ready for operation.

2. **Insert paper:** The shredder will start automatically when paper is inserted.

The machine stops automatically when no further paper is inserted. It will then enter automatic standby after 15 minutes. The machine can be switched off at any time by pressing the switch (this is not possible when the machine is in reverse motion). When the Green LED control light is off, the machine is not consuming any power.

You can also press and hold the switch to start the machine and shred any remaining paper in the inlet shaft without the light beam detecting it. Afterwards, the automatic start feature will resume when inserting paper.

The IDEAL 2245 CC stops automatically and goes into reverse if too much paper is inserted and it jams. The “ON/OFF” button will light up red.

1. Remove the jammed paper.

2. Re-feed the paper in smaller quantities.

To manually interrupt the shredding procedure:

1. Press the green button; the machine stops and the button changes to red.

2. Press the red button for any length of time; the machine runs in reverse and the button flashes green.

3. Remove the paper.

4. The machine is ready for operation again.

If a paper jam cannot be corrected using the methods above because the shred bin is overfilled, the shred bin must be emptied.

Empty the shred bin when it is full.

1. Unplug the shredder.

2. Lift the shredder head off the bin.

3. Empty the bin.

4. Place the shredder head back on the bin.

For safe operation, empty the shred bins in a sufficient time, at least daily, so that no interference is caused to the cutting heads.

If the sheet capacity reduces or after the shred bin is emptied, you should oil the shredding mechanism.

For a particle cut model like the IDEAL 2245 CC, use oil sheets or an oiler. Apply the oil across the feed opening as shown in the manual illustrations.

From time to time, you should clean the output area of the cutting head. For your safety, follow these steps:

• Disconnect the machine from the mains power.

• Remove paper debris with a brush.

Be aware of the danger of injury from the sharp cutting head.

If your IDEAL 2245 CC will not start, check the following:

• Is the machine plugged in?

• Is the machine head placed correctly on the shred bin?

• Is the “ON/OFF” button pressed? Does the Green LED lamp light up?

• Is the paper fed into the center of the feed opening to activate the photo cell?

If the machine will not stop, the photo cell may be dirty. To clean it:

1. Remove the plug from the wall socket.

2. Clean the photo cell in the feed opening with a small brush.

If the machine switches off, the protection against overload may have been activated. Please let the machine cool down before using it again.

Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner and make it available for the recyclable material collection service.

Please think of the environment and dispose shredded CDs, cards and other data medium separately from shredder paper.
