The HYUNDAI 68241 contains R290 refrigerant, which is a refrigerant gas that complies with European environmental directives. The quantity is less than 1 kg (see rating plate for exact quantity) and is in a closed circuit. The coolant has no ozone-depleting capacity. However, it is a greenhouse gas under the Kyoto protocol and can thus contribute to global warming when released into the atmosphere. Only trained technicians with an appropriate refrigerant certificate are allowed to fill or empty the appliance. The HYUNDAI 68241 must not be topped up with refrigerant if it is used correctly and with an undamaged refrigerant circuit. GWP: R290: 3.

• The HYUNDAI 68241 must be installed, operated and stored in a dry room with a floor area of at least 13 m².
• Never use the HYUNDAI 68241 in an airtight room. Provide adequate ventilation to prevent underpressure in the room. Underpressure can disrupt safe operation.
• Place the HYUNDAI 68241 on a solid and flat surface.
• Always move the HYUNDAI 68241 with both hands.
• Never touch the HYUNDAI 68241 with damp or wet hands.
• This appliance can be used by persons with reduced sensory, physical or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge when they have been instructed in its safe use or use the appliance under supervision.
• The HYUNDAI 68241 must not be cleaned or maintained by children without supervision.
• Keep the HYUNDAI 68241 out of the reach of children under the age of 8 and do not let children play with the appliance.
• Do not use means to accelerate the defrosting process other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
• The HYUNDAI 68241 must be stored in a dry room without permanent ignition sources (such as: open fire, a gas appliance or an electric heater).
• Never pierce or incinerate the HYUNDAI 68241.
• Never immerse the appliance, cord or plug in water.
• Be aware that refrigerants do not have any odour.
• Only install this appliance if it complies with local standards, laws and regulations.
• Do not use an extension cord, have a grounded outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
• Do not pierce any part of the refrigeration circuit.
• When defrosting and cleaning the appliance, use only tools recommended by the manufacturer.
• If the appliance is installed, operated or stored in a non-ventilated area, measures must be taken to prevent fire or explosion due to leaked refrigerant. Make sure that no ignition sources (such as fire, stoves, sparking electrical equipment, lit cigarettes, etc.) are in the same room.
• The appliance must be stored in such a way as to prevent mechanical defects.
• Persons working or operating the refrigeration circuit must have the appropriate certification, issued by an authorized organization, certifying that these persons are authorized to handle refrigerants in accordance with industry specifications.
• Repairs should be made as recommended by the manufacturer. Maintenance and repair requiring the assistance of other trained personnel must be performed under the supervision of a person specialized in the use of flammable refrigerants.

Check whether the voltage stated on the rating plate of the HYUNDAI 68241 corresponds to the locally available mains voltage. If not, do not use the appliance.

The HYUNDAI 68241 has been designed for domestic use only as an air conditioner in living rooms and bedrooms.

The components described in Figure A+B for the HYUNDAI 68241 are:

The maximum surface area that the HYUNDAI 68241 air conditioner can cool depends on several factors. For example:

• High outdoor temperature.
• Large windows.
• Flat roof.
• Many people present.
• Many electrical appliances.

• Close windows, doors and curtains at the sunniest hours of the day.
• Do not place the appliance in the vicinity of a heat source.
• Do not place the appliance in direct sunlight.
• Clean the filters regularly.

To install the drain hose for the HYUNDAI 68241, proceed as follows:

1. Fit the hose coupling (b) to one end of the drain hose (Figure E).
2. Screw the adapter (c) onto the other end of the drain hose (Figure F).
3. Fit the end (with the hose coupling) of the exhaust hose to the warm air outlet (8) on the rear panel.
4. Thoroughly clean the frame (h) and the window (i) where the window seal (f) will be attached in advance. Remove the velcro film (g) and apply to the non-hinged sides (j) of your window and frame (Figure H). Press the velcro firmly. Make sure that the window closes properly with the velcro on it.
5. Attach the window kit (f) to the velcro; make sure there are no gaps for air to escape. The zipper opening (k) on the window kit should be on the side where the drain hose can easily reach it. Open the zipper to install the drain hose, then close it tightly to hold the hose in place.
6. To remove the window kit, simply remove the drain hose and then pull firmly on one end of a sealed section. You can then close your window normally.
7. The window kit can be used on tilting or normal windows (Figure J).

For the first use of the HYUNDAI 68241:

• If the appliance is tilted more than 45°, let it stand for at least 24 hours before using it.
• Carefully remove the appliance and all accessories from the packaging. Remove the packing material.
• Keep packaging materials out of the reach of children.
• Check the appliance for damage that may have occurred during transport.
• Check that all accessories are present.
• Place the appliance on a solid, level surface with at least 50 cm free space all around for good air circulation.
• Do not place the appliance near walls, curtains or other objects that may block the air inlet and outlet. Keep the air inlet and outlet clear of obstructions.
• Never install the appliance where it could be exposed to:
  • Heat sources such as radiators, heating grates, stoves or other appliances that produce heat.
  • Direct sunlight.
  • Mechanical vibrations or shocks.
  • Excessive dust.
  • Lack of ventilation.

To insert and replace the battery in the remote control for the HYUNDAI 68241:

• Slide the cover off the battery compartment.
• Insert 2 AAA batteries according to the + and – markings in the battery compartment.
• Slide the cover back onto the remote control.

• When changing batteries, always replace the complete set. Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Remove batteries if the remote control will not be used for an extended period of time.
• Avoid short circuits of removed batteries.
• Do not store batteries in places where the temperature can exceed 50 °C, e.g., in a car parked in the sun.
• Do not incinerate batteries.
• Never try to open batteries.
• Should battery leakage occur, carefully remove the liquid with a cloth. Avoid skin or eye contact. Do not swallow. Should the battery fluid get on the skin or in the eyes, rinse with running water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention immediately.

To operate the HYUNDAI 68241 using the control panel (Figure C):

Open the louvers before switching on.

Press the on/off button (9) to switch on the appliance. The device automatically starts in fan mode. Press the mode button (10) to select the desired mode. Press the power button again to turn off the power.

The functions of the control panel buttons are:

• (9) Turns the appliance on or off.
• (10) Switches the mode between fan, cooling and dehumidifier.
• (11) Shows the selected mode.
• (12) Enables or disables night mode.
• (13) Decreases the desired temperature or time setting.
• (14) Increases the desired temperature or time setting.
• (15) Shows the temperature and time setting.
• (16) Controls the airflow direction.
• (17) Indicates the temperature and function (cooling, dehumidifying or fan).
• (18) Sets the fan speed.
• (19) Sets a time when the unit will automatically start or stop.

The HYUNDAI 68241 has four functions:

A. Cooling: Select the cooling mode by pressing the mode button repeatedly until the cooling indicator lights up. Press the up (14) or down (13) button to adjust the temperature. The temperature can be set between 16°C and 32°C. Press the speed button (18) repeatedly until you have selected the desired fan speed. Press the SWING button (16) to adjust the direction of the airflow. The air conditioner will stop if the room temperature is lower than the selected temperature.

B. Ventilate: Press the mode button several times until the ventilation indicator lights up. In the ventilation mode, the room air is circulated, but not cooled. Press the speed button repeatedly to select the desired fan speed.

C. Dehumidify: Press the mode button until the dehumidification indicator lights up. The user must connect the hose to the drain at the bottom of the unit. In this mode, the fan speed switches to a low speed, the temperature cannot be selected.

D. Night Mode: Night mode can only be activated in cooling mode. In cooling mode, after 1 hour the preset temperature is increased by 1°C, after another hour the preset temperature is increased by 1°C again.

The timer can be operated in two ways and can be set from 1 to 24 hours.

Power off (when the power is on): press the timer button to activate the timer function. Press the up/down button repeatedly to set the delayed switch-off time.

Power on (when the power is off): press the timer button to activate the timer function. Press the up/down button repeatedly to set the delayed power-on time.

The timer can be canceled by pressing the up/down button repeatedly until the LED shows ‘00’.

Pressing POWER also exits the timer setting.

At low room temperatures, frost may form on the evaporator during use. The appliance starts defrosting automatically and the on/off button flashes. The sequence of defrosting is as follows:

Cooling: If the ambient temperature sensor detects that the evaporator temperature is below -1 °C, the compressor will stop. It will restart after 10 minutes of standstill or after the evaporator temperature has risen to 7°C.

Dehumidification: As soon as the temperature sensor detects that the evaporator temperature is less than 40°C and the difference between the evaporator temperature and the room temperature is less than 19°C, the unit will shut down for 20 minutes. Then, after 5 minutes of defrosting during which the on/off button flashes, the appliance switches on again.

To activate Wifi mode on the HYUNDAI 68241:

Switch on the device and press TIMER (19) for 5 seconds to activate the WiFi mode. The WiFi symbol will light up and flash. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to control the device with the app.

To connect the HYUNDAI 68241 via Bluetooth, open the bluetooth function of your smartphone or tablet. Open the app, the device will be connected automatically.

Press and hold TIMER for 5 seconds to disconnect the WiFi on the HYUNDAI 68241.

To manually empty the drainage tank (Figure L) on the HYUNDAI 68241:

1. If the appliance stops after the water tank is full, unplug the appliance.
2. Place a container under the water drainage point (7).
3. Pull the water plug (20) out of the water drain point, the water will automatically flow into the container.
4. When all the water has been drained, replace the water plug.
5. Plug in the power plug and restart the device.

Tips for emptying the drainage tank:

• Keep the water plug safe.
• During dewatering, the device can be tilted slightly backwards.
• If the container cannot contain all the water, replace the water stop in the meantime to prevent water from spilling.

The self-evaporation system on the HYUNDAI 68241 uses the collected water to cool the condenser for better and efficient performance. There is no need to empty the drainage tank during use, except during dehumidification and high humidity. The condensation water evaporates at the condenser and is discharged through the exhaust hose. During continuous use, the supplied drain hose can be connected to the water drainage point (21) to drain the condensation water into a suitable container.

Tips for continuous drainage:

• Switch off the device.
• Remove the plug from the water drain hole and keep it in a safe place.
• Connect the drain hose securely and make sure it is not kinked.
• Place the drain hose above a bucket, for example, and make sure that the water can flow freely.
• Do not immerse the end of the hose in water, otherwise the appliance will not be able to get rid of the water.
• Since the negative pressure of the condensate tray is large, it is best to place the drain hose at an angle of slightly more than 20 degrees.
• Keep the hose straight to avoid a blockage.

In the event of a power failure on the HYUNDAI 68241, a 3-minute restart delay will occur to protect the compressor.

Regular cleaning extends the life of the HYUNDAI 68241.

To clean the exterior:

• Clean the housing with a soft cloth or soft paper.
• If dirt is difficult to remove, use a soft cloth with a little soapy water.
• Never try to clean the inside of the appliance.
• Do not use chemical cleaners, gasoline or other solvents. These can irreparably damage the housing.

Always switch off the appliance completely and always remove the plug from the socket before cleaning or performing maintenance.

Dust and debris collect on the filter and restricts the airflow. Restricted airflow reduces optimal operation and can cause damage to the appliance. The air filter should be cleaned regularly (every two weeks). The air filter is removable for easy cleaning. To avoid contamination of the evaporator, do not use the appliance without the air filter.

Steps for cleaning the air filter (Figure N) for the HYUNDAI 68241:

1. Switch off the appliance and remove the plug from the wall socket.
2. Remove the filter frame from the appliance.
3. Use a vacuum cleaner to vacuum dust from the filter.
4. Turn the filter over and rinse the air filter under running water. Let the water flow through the filter in the opposite direction of the air flow. Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinstalling.

Do not touch the surface of the evaporator with bare hands, otherwise you may injure your fingers.

If the HYUNDAI 68241 will not be used for a longer period of time, take the following measures:

• Remove the condensation water completely. Let the appliance run at low speed in the fan function for several hours until condensation water no longer runs out.
• Switch off the appliance and remove the plug from the wall socket.
• Clean and reinstall the filters.
• Remove the exhaust hose and the water drain hose.
• If possible, pack the appliance in its original packaging or in a plastic bag.
• Store the appliance in an upright position in a clean, dry and well-ventilated area no smaller than 13 m².
• Do not place heavy objects on the appliance.
• Remove the batteries from the remote control.

Error codes for the HYUNDAI 68241 and their troubleshooting:

The HYUNDAI 68241 can be operated by means of the control panel, the remote control, or an app.

The functions of the remote control buttons are:

• (9) Turns the appliance on or off.
• (10) Switches the mode between fan, cooling and dehumidifier.
• (11) Shows the selected mode.
• (12) Enables or disables night mode.
• (13) Decreases the desired temperature or time setting.
• (14) Increases the desired temperature or time setting.
• (15) Shows the temperature and time setting.
• (16) Controls the airflow direction.
• (17) Indicates the temperature and function (cooling, dehumidifying or fan).
• (18) Sets the fan speed.
• (19) Sets a time when the unit will automatically start or stop.

To turn on the HYUNDAI 68241, press the on/off button (9). The appliance automatically starts in fan mode. Press the mode button (10) to select the desired mode. Press the power button again to turn off the power.

To select the cooling mode on the HYUNDAI 68241, press the mode button repeatedly until the cooling indicator lights up. Press the up (14) or down (13) button to adjust the temperature. The temperature can be set between 16°C and 32°C. Press the speed button (18) repeatedly until you have selected the desired fan speed. Press the SWING button (16) to adjust the direction of the airflow. The air conditioner will stop if the room temperature is lower than the selected temperature.

To activate the Ventilate mode on the HYUNDAI 68241, press the mode button several times until the ventilation indicator lights up. In the ventilation mode, the room air is circulated, but not cooled. Press the speed button repeatedly to select the desired fan speed.

To activate the Dehumidify mode on the HYUNDAI 68241, press the mode button until the dehumidification indicator lights up. The user must connect the hose to the drain at the bottom of the unit. In this mode, the fan speed switches to a low speed, and the temperature cannot be selected.

Night Mode on the HYUNDAI 68241 can only be activated in cooling mode. In cooling mode, after 1 hour the preset temperature is increased by 1°C, after another hour the preset temperature is increased by 1°C again.

At low room temperatures, frost may form on the evaporator during use on the HYUNDAI 68241, causing it to start defrosting automatically and the on/off button to flash. The sequence is as follows:

Cooling: If the ambient temperature sensor detects that the evaporator temperature is below -1 °C, the compressor will stop. It will restart after 10 minutes of standstill or after the evaporator temperature has risen to 7°C.

Dehumidification: As soon as the temperature sensor detects that the evaporator temperature is less than 40°C and the difference between the evaporator temperature and the room temperature is less than 19°C, the unit will shut down for 20 minutes. Then, after 5 minutes of defrosting during which the on/off button flashes, the appliance switches on again.

To activate WiFi mode on the HYUNDAI 68241, switch on the device and press TIMER (19) for 5 seconds. The WiFi symbol will light up and flash.

If the HYUNDAI 68241 stops because the water tank is full, you must empty the water tank.

To manually empty the tank (Figure L):

1. If the appliance stops after the water tank is full, unplug the appliance.
2. Place a container under the water drainage point (7).
3. Pull the water plug (20) out of the water drain point, the water will automatically flow into the container.
4. When all the water has been drained, replace the water plug.
5. Plug in the power plug and restart the device.

To ensure regular cleaning extends the life of the HYUNDAI 68241:

• Clean the housing with a soft cloth or soft paper.
• If dirt is difficult to remove, use a soft cloth with a little soapy water.
• Never try to clean the inside of the appliance.
