What are the basic safety precautions I should follow?

1. Read and follow the user manual strictly.

2. DANGER: Avoid electric shock. Water is used with electrical equipment. Do not attempt repairs yourself; return to an authorized service facility or discard.

3. If the appliance falls into water, DO NOT reach for it! Unplug it first, then retrieve it. Unplug immediately if electrical parts get wet.

4. Examine the appliance after installation. Do not plug in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.

5. Do not operate if the cord or plug is damaged, if it malfunctions, or if it’s dropped or damaged.

6. Position the tank and stand so water won’t drip onto the outlet or plug. Arrange a “drip loop” for each cord (cord dips below the outlet level).

7. If the plug or outlet gets wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect power at the circuit breaker first, then unplug and check for water.

8. Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children.

9. Avoid contacting moving or hot parts (like lamp bulbs).

10. Always unplug when not in use, before adding/removing parts, and before cleaning. Grasp the plug to pull from the outlet; never yank the cord.

11. Use only for intended aquarium purposes. Do not use non-recommended attachments.

12. Do not install or store where exposed to weather or freezing temperatures.

13. Ensure the appliance is securely installed on the tank before operating.

14. Read and observe all important notices on the appliance.

15. If an extension cord is needed, use one with a proper rating (amperes/watts). Position it carefully to avoid tripping hazards.

16. The power cord has a polarized plug; it fits only one way. If it doesn’t fit, reverse it. If it still doesn’t fit, contact an electrician. Do not defeat this safety feature. Never use with an extension cord unless it can be fully inserted.

17. This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. Ensure top vents are not blocked to prevent overheating.

18. SAVE THIS USER MANUAL.
