The Honeywell RTH7600 thermostat includes the following features:

• Large touchscreen display with backlight is easy to read, even in the dark.

• Daily program schedules maximize comfort and economy.

• One-touch temp control overrides the program schedule at any time.

• Precise comfort control keeps the temperature within 1°F of the level you set.

• Change/check reminder lets you know when to replace the furnace filter.

Your new Honeywell RTH7600 thermostat is pre-programmed and ready to go. You only need to set the time and day, then check the settings below and change them if needed:

1. Set clock: Set the current time and day.

2. Select fan setting: This is preset to Auto. In Auto mode, the fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is on.

3. Select system setting: This is preset to Heat. This setting controls only the heating system.

4. Program schedules: The thermostat is preset to energy-saving levels for when you’re at work or asleep. The default schedule assumes you wake at 6 am, leave at 8 am, return at 6 pm, and go to bed at 10 pm.

You can override the program schedule at any time and manually adjust the temperature.

Arrow keys (Up/Down): Press to adjust the set temperature or to make selections from screen menus.

System & Fan: Press to select fan operation (On/Auto) or system mode (Heat/Cool/Auto/Off/Em Heat).

Schedule: Press to set the daily program schedule.

Clock & More: Press to set the clock or access the furnace filter reminder.

The main screen of your Honeywell RTH7600 thermostat displays the following information:

• Current day of week: Shown in the upper left corner (e.g., Mon).

• Current inside temperature: The large number on the left.

• Current time: Displayed in the center.

• Temperature setting (Set To): The temperature the thermostat is set to maintain, shown to the right of the current time.

• System setting: Indicates the current system mode (e.g., Cool, Heat).

• Fan setting: Indicates the current fan mode (e.g., Auto).

• Smart Response® Technology status: “Recovery” is displayed when the system is activated before a scheduled time period.

Other messages can include:

• Cool On: The cooling system is activated.

• Heat On: The heating system is activated.

• Aux Heat On: The auxiliary heating system is activated (for heat pump systems only).

1. To set the current time display, press the Clock & More button.

2. Press the UP or DOWN arrow to adjust the time. Press and hold the arrow to advance the time more quickly.

3. Press DONE to save & exit. You can also press GO BACK to exit without changing the time.

Note: The real-time clock should never require adjustment since it automatically updates for daylight savings time and stores all date/time information. To change the current week day display, see the System Setup in your Installation Guide.

1. Press the SYSTEM & FAN button.

2. Press the FAN button on the screen to select the fan operation.

3. You can choose between two modes:

• On: The fan is always on, circulating air continuously.

• Auto: The fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is on. This is the preset setting.

4. Press DONE to save your selection.

2. Press the SYSTEM button on the screen to select the desired mode.

3. Press DONE after making your selection. The available system settings are:

• Heat: Thermostat controls only the heating system.

• Cool: Thermostat controls only the cooling system.

• Auto: Thermostat automatically selects heating or cooling depending on the indoor temperature.

• Off: All systems are off.

• Em Heat (Emergency Heat): Only for heat pumps with auxiliary heat. Thermostat controls Emergency and Auxiliary Heat, and the compressor is locked out.

Note: The Auto and Em Heat system settings may not appear, depending on how your thermostat was installed.

The Honeywell RTH7600 thermostat is pre-set with an energy-saving program to help reduce heating and cooling expenses. The default schedule has four periods for weekdays (Mon-Fri) and weekends (Sat-Sun). The default settings are as follows:

Follow these steps to customize the program schedule:

1. Press SCHEDULE, then press EDIT to see the weekday schedule.

2. Press SELECT DAY. You can select multiple days (e.g., MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI) to program with the same settings.

3. Press NEXT STEP twice. Press the UP or DOWN arrow to set the Wake time for the selected day(s).

4. Press NEXT STEP, then press the UP or DOWN arrow to set the Heat temperature for this time period.

5. Press NEXT STEP, then press the UP or DOWN arrow to set the Cool temperature for this time period.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 to program the other time periods (LEAVE, RETURN, SLEEP), then press DONE.

7. To program Saturday/Sunday, repeat steps 1-6. Press the arrow keys until the desired day is flashing, then press SELECT DAY.

8. Press DONE to save and exit.

Press the UP or DOWN arrow to immediately adjust the temperature. This will temporarily override the temperature setting for the current time period.

The new temperature will be maintained only until the next scheduled time period begins. When the timer expires, the program schedule will resume and set the temperature to the level you’ve programmed for that period.

To cancel the temporary setting at any time, press USE SCHEDULE.

1. Press the UP or DOWN arrow to adjust the temperature to your desired level.

2. The screen will show “Temporary” above the set temperature. Press the HOLD button that appears on the screen. This will turn off the program schedule and switch to a permanent hold.

The temperature you set will be maintained 24 hours a day, until you manually change it or cancel the hold.

To cancel the “Hold” and resume the program schedule, press USE SCHEDULE.

The Auto Changeover feature is for climates where both air conditioning and heating are used on the same day. When the system mode is set to Auto, the thermostat automatically selects heating or cooling depending on the indoor temperature to maintain comfort.

Heat and cool temperature settings must be at least 3 degrees apart. If a schedule override occurs (temporarily or permanently) while in Auto mode, the thermostat will automatically adjust the cooling and heating settings to maintain a 3-degree separation. For example, if you raise the heat temperature to within 3 degrees of the cool setting, the display will show an up arrow next to “cool” to indicate that the thermostat is also raising the cool setting to maintain the separation.

CAUTION: To prevent possible compressor damage, do not use Auto Changeover if the outside temperature drops below 50°F (10°C).

If activated during installation, the furnace filter reminder alerts you when it is time to replace your filter. The message “Change Filter” will appear on the screen. To restart the timer after changing the filter, press the RESET button on the screen.

To reset the reminder interval timer before it expires:

1. Press MORE, then NEXT.

2. Press RESET.

3. Press DONE to save and exit.

This feature allows the thermostat to “learn” how long your furnace and air conditioner take to reach programmed temperature settings. This ensures the temperature is reached at the time you set. For example, if you set the Wake time to 6 am and the temperature to 70°, the heat will come on before 6 am, so the room temperature is 70° by the time you wake up at 6 am. The message “Recovery” is displayed on the screen when the system is activated before a scheduled time period.

This feature forces the compressor to wait a few minutes before restarting, which helps prevent equipment damage. During this wait time, the message “Wait” will be displayed on the screen.

Batteries are optional (to provide backup power) if your thermostat was wired to run on AC power when installed.

1. Grasp the thermostat and pull it straight out to remove it from the wallplate.

2. Turn the thermostat over and insert 2 fresh AA alkaline batteries.

3. Align the thermostat with the wallplate and push it gently until it snaps into place.

Install fresh batteries immediately when the LO BATT warning begins flashing. The warning flashes for about 30 days before the batteries are depleted. Even if the warning does not appear, you should replace batteries once a year, or before leaving home for more than a month.

If your thermostat display is blank, try the following suggestions:

• Check the circuit breaker and reset if necessary.

• Make sure the power switch at the heating & cooling system is on.

• Make sure the furnace door is closed securely.

• If the thermostat is battery-powered, make sure fresh AA alkaline batteries are correctly installed.

Make sure the heating and cooling temperatures are set to acceptable ranges:

• Heat: 40° to 90°F (4.5° to 32°C).

• Cool: 50° to 99°F (10° to 37°C).

Note: Select models have temperature range setting limits that can limit the ranges listed above. See Installation Instructions for more information.

If your heating or cooling system does not respond, try these steps:

• Press SYSTEM to set the system to Heat. Make sure the set temperature is higher than the inside temperature.

• Press SYSTEM to set the system to Cool. Make sure the set temperature is lower than the inside temperature.

• Check the circuit breaker and reset if necessary.

• Make sure the power switch at the heating & cooling system is on.

• Make sure the furnace door is closed securely.

• If “Wait” is displayed, the compressor protection timer is on. Wait 5 minutes for the system to restart safely, without damaging the compressor.
