Before using the BLACK+DECKER BXSM1000E, please read the following safety advice and warnings:

• Read the instructions carefully before switching on the appliance and keep them for future reference.

To use the BLACK+DECKER BXSM1000E:

1. Extend the supply cord completely before plugging it in.

2. Open the lid.

3. Put the ingredients in the jar, being careful to respect the MAX and MIN levels.

4. After chopping them into small pieces, put the ingredients into the jar with liquid (do not exceed the maximum marker).

5. Put the lid on the jar; make sure it is properly fixed in place.

6. Connect the appliance to the mains.

7. Select the desired program using the Function button.

8. After selecting the desired function, press the On/Off button or wait a few seconds for the appliance to start automatically.

The Blend program on the BLACK+DECKER BXSM1000E allows you to blend food or to further blend soup to the desired consistency. This program lasts for approximately 1 minute and 50 seconds and operates without the heating process.

The Keep Warm program on the BLACK+DECKER BXSM1000E allows you to keep soup warm or re-heat it. This program lasts for approximately 26 minutes and operates only with the heating process.

The Smoothie program is ideal for making smoothies or juices from fresh ingredients. This program lasts for approximately 3 minutes and operates only with the blending process. NOTE: Do not place ice cubes in the soup maker.

The Compote program on the BLACK+DECKER BXSM1000E is ideal for making jam. This program lasts for approximately 24 minutes and operates with both heating and blending processes.

The Chunky Soup program allows you to make rustic style soup with unblended vegetables and meats. This program lasts for approximately 30 minutes and operates only with the heating process.

The Smooth Soup program allows you to make blended creamy soups. This program lasts for approximately 26 minutes and operates with both heating and blending processes. ATTENTION: when using Compote, Chunky Soup or Smooth Soup programs, hot steam will be released when removing the lid. This is normal.

• Stop the appliance.

• Unplug the appliance from the mains.

• Empty the contents of the jar into a suitable container.

• Allow to cool down.

• Clean the appliance.

The BLACK+DECKER BXSM1000E has a safety device that protects it from overheating. If the appliance turns itself off and does not switch on again, disconnect it from the mains supply, and wait for approximately 15 minutes before reconnecting. If the machine does not start again, seek authorized technical assistance.

• Disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool before undertaking any cleaning task.

• Clean the equipment with a damp cloth with a few drops of washing-up liquid and then dry.

• Do not use solvents, or products with an acid or base pH such as bleach, or abrasive products, for cleaning the appliance.

• Do not let water or any other liquid get into the air vents to avoid damage to the inner parts of the appliance.

• Do not wash the lid and the outside of the jar directly with water when cleaning.

• Do not allow water to get into the electrical connections.

• After use, simply wash the Motor Housing and Mixing Blade with warm water, and wipe with a sponge.

• The inside of the jar can also be cleaned with warm soapy water and sponge.

• Wipe down the lid and the outside of the jar with a slightly damp cloth if necessary and then dry it with a soft cloth.

• Allow all parts to dry completely before reassembling.

• During the cleaning process, take special care with the blades, as they are very sharp.

If the BLACK+DECKER BXSM1000E doesn’t start, check the following:
