HONEYWELL MS1500PF (01) PDF SUMMARY:

How should the LightSpot be installed?

The LightSpot should be installed on a rigid surface that will not be subject to movement or vibration. It can be fixed directly to a rigid surface or recessed into a ceiling tile using a semi-flush fixing kit, which requires drilling a 76 mm hole.

Is it possible to retain the existing light switch during installation?

Yes, the existing light switch can be retained. Use the switch wire from the switch as LIVE IN. A spare connection is provided for earth termination.

Is the LightSpot suitable for outdoor use?

No, the LightSpot is not for use outdoors.

What is the detection range of the LightSpot?

The range is 10-15 meters for a walking target in a corridor and 5-8 meters for small hand-movements.

What is the optimal mounting position for the LightSpot?

For best performance, mount the LightSpot at a height of 2-3 meters, in a corner, pointing into the room (max size 6.0 m x 6.0 m) or at one end of a corridor. The detector is more sensitive to movement along the beam than across it. It should be positioned a meter or more inside the monitored area, especially in racking aisles and corridors, and not within 25 cm of a luminaire.

What should be considered when selecting a mounting location?

Consider that ultrasonic detectors are sensitive to all moving objects, including air movement. Therefore, avoid locations with fans, such as extract fans and computer cooling fans.

What are the electrical specifications for the LightSpot?

The LightSpot has a switching capacity of 10 Amps and is for use on 230V ac supplies only. It supports a maximum of 1500W for incandescent lamps. A means for disconnection must be incorporated in the fixed wiring in accordance with the current wiring regulations.

What should I check regarding lighting types?

Check with the manufacturer of the luminaires to ensure they are compatible with automatic controls, as some may specify a maximum number of switching cycles to achieve a predicted lamp life.

How do the sensitivity controls work?

  • ON Sensitivity: Sets the sensitivity to movement when lights are switched on. Choose a setting as low as practical. Setting it to maximum will result in lights staying on permanently.
  • OFF Sensitivity: Sets the sensitivity to movement when lights have switched off. Useful in storage aisles and open plan areas to reduce sensitivity when the area is empty. When fully clockwise, a very large movement is needed to switch on the lights, while a much smaller movement (set by ON Sensitivity) will sustain them. In enclosed rooms or corridors, this control can be left fully anti-clockwise for the same sensitivity whether the lights are ON or OFF. The change takes 5 seconds after the lights have switched off to establish fully.

How do I adjust the OFF Sensitivity?

Wait outside the area for the lights to switch OFF. Re-enter the area and check the point at which the lighting switches on again. Increase the setting until the lights are switched on JUST AT THE POINT OF ENTRY.

How do I adjust the ON Sensitivity?

Rotate the control clockwise so that the LED flashes in response to typical movements expected at the extremities of the monitored area. Wait to ensure that the lights switch off and that no interference signals are triggering the detector. Do not turn to maximum; always adjust to the lowest setting consistent with reliable performance.

How do I adjust the Coarse Sensitivity?

The normal setting is anti-clockwise. Turn clockwise to reduce overall sensitivity, which is only required in special circumstances.

How do I set the Off Delay?

Set the time delay following the last observed movement after which the lights switch OFF. With positions 3 and 4 in the OFF position, the delay time is 5 seconds, which must only be used for setting up purposes.

How do I use the semi-automatic mode?

In semi-automatic mode, the lights are switched ON by switching the wall switch OFF then ON. Power-up ON must be selected, i.e., Switch 1 must be ON.

How does the Photocell work?

The Photocell prevents lights from being switched ON when there is adequate daylight. Commission for movement before adjusting the photocell. Anti-clockwise adjustment makes the photocell more active so that lights will be held OFF until it is darker. A mid setting is generally suitable. The photocell may be overridden by switching the normal light switch OFF then ON. The lights will come ON if Power-up ON is selected, i.e., Switch 1 is ON.
