What are the main features of this washing machine?

Large-sized Spin Dryer Basket: You can load the basket with laundry and unload it from the basket with ease.

“AIR JET” (Spinning with Blowing AIR): During the process of the dry function, the water content of laundries is blown away by dried blowing air, and laundries can be dried earlier than the usual spinning time.

Convenient Collars & Cuffs Washboard: This feature lets you hand wash certain areas of items to remove dirt that regular washing doesn’t easily remove, such as dirt on collars and cuffs, stains on aprons, and dirt on the heels of socks. It’s a simple idea for a twin-tub washing machine that lets you scrub parts of items when you notice stubborn dirt.

What are the general safety precautions for using the washer?

This washing machine is designed for home use only. Before operating the washing machine, please read these safety instructions carefully.

This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments;

farm houses;

by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential type environments;

bed and breakfast type environments;

areas for communal use in blocks of flats or in launderettes.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

What are the ‘Warning’ safety precautions?

Unauthorized Modification: Persons other than repair technicians must not disassemble, repair, or modify the unit. Doing so may result in fire or malfunctioning, which may cause injury.

Power Socket: Use a single socket rated at 5A or more. If you use an outlet into which another power plug is inserted, the outlet may cause fire resulting from abnormal heat.

Power Plug Cleaning: When the prong(s) of the power plug or the base of the prong(s) is soiled with dirt or dust, wipe it off with a clean cloth. Otherwise, fire may result.

Voltage: Be sure to apply the specified voltage to the unit. Failure to do so may cause an electric shock or fire.

Lid Lock: If the lid lock does not unlock after 10 minutes from the spin dryer basket stop, please contact a service dealer for repair.

Maintenance Safety: Be sure to pull out the power plug from the socket when maintaining the unit. Do not pull out the plug from the socket with wet hands. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or injury.

Grounding: The earth lead must be properly connected. Otherwise, you may get an electric shock if the unit malfunctions or electricity leaks.

Installation Location: Do not install the washer in a bathroom or outdoors where it is exposed to wind and rain or high humidity. An electric shock, fire, malfunction, and deformation may result.

Maintenance with Water: When carrying out maintenance on the unit, avoid applying water directly onto any unit section. This may cause a short circuit or electric shock.

Spin Basket Safety: Never touch the laundry in the spin dryer basket until it comes to a full stop. Even slow spinning of the basket may cause the laundry to get caught in your hands or fingers, which may cause injury. Particular care is required in this regard when children are involved.

Prohibited Substances: Never put any of the following things into the washing tub or spin dryer basket: kerosene, gasoline, benzene, alcohol, thinners, or clothes wet with any of these substances. An explosion may occur or a fire can break out.

Child Safety: Do not allow infants to look into the washing tub and spin dryer basket, and do not place a stand in the proximity of the washing machine. This may result in your child falling into the tub or basket, possibly resulting in injury.

Power Cord Care: Do not damage, break, process, forcibly bend or pull, distort or bind the power cord. Do not place any heavy objects on it or allow the power cord to get caught in any objects. This may damage the power cord, resulting in fire or electric shock.

Damaged Cord/Plug: Do not use the unit when the power cord or power plug is damaged, or the plug insertion in the socket is loose. Doing so may result in electric shock or fire.

What are the ‘Caution’ safety precautions?

Unplugging: Be sure to hold the insulated body of the power plug, not the cord, when pulling out the power plug. Failure to do so may cause an electric shock or short, resulting in fire.

Operating Safety: Do not place your hand into the washing machine while it is in operation. Even slow spinning of the washing tub may cause the laundry to get caught in your hands or fingers, which may cause injury. (Be sure to “turn OFF the timer” first if you should put your hand into it).

Water Temperature: Use hot water of 50°C or below whenever using warm water for washing. Doing otherwise will cause deformation or damage to the plastic parts, which may result in electric shock or electricity leak.

Do Not Step On: Do not step on the washing machine or place any heavy objects on it. This may cause the washing machine to be deformed or damaged, leading to injury.

Unattended Use: Be sure to keep the power plug unplugged when not using the unit for an extended period. Failure to do so may deteriorate the unit’s insulation performance, which may cause an electric shock or fire resulting from an electricity leak.

Underside Safety: Do not place your hand or foot underneath the washing machine while it is in use. The revolving components located in that area may cause injury.

Inner Cover: Place the inner cover (for spinning operation) in the spin dryer basket correctly when you spin-dry laundry. Otherwise, the laundry may pop out of the basket, resulting in injury.

Prohibited Items: Do not wash, rinse, or spin dry waterproof sheets and clothes (e.g., sleeping bag, diaper cover, sauna suit, wet suit, raincoat, and covers for bicycles, motorcycles, and cars). Otherwise, the laundry may jump out of the washer or abnormal vibrations may be generated, resulting in personal injury or damage to the washer, wall, floor, and clothes.

What are the precautions for proper use of the washing machine?

Heat Sources: Keep the washer away from heat sources or flame, including a lighted candle, mosquito coil, cigarette, heater, kerosene stove, etc. Doing otherwise will cause deformation or damage to the washer and a fire accident.

Maintenance Cleaning: Do not use benzene, thinner, cleanser, wax, or slightly alkaline detergent to wipe the unit, and never scrub it with a scrub brush. Doing otherwise will cause deformation or damage to the plastic parts and paint-finished surfaces.

Water Pressure: If you find that water pressure is too high, close the faucet accordingly. Otherwise, the water supply hose may be dislodged and water may leak.

Water Splashes: Close the washer lid, if necessary, when washing water splashes. This is a preventive measure to avoid moistening the floor.

Condensation: If the difference between the ambient temperature and water temperature is too high, as in summer, the floor may get wet due to dewdrops deposited on the outer surface of the washing tub.

After Use: Take proper care after using the washing machine. Be sure to pull out the power plug from the socket to prevent a fire accident.

Washing Shoes: Avoid machine-washing and spin-drying shoes and the like. Otherwise, it may result in damage to the washer or cause an accident.

Carpet Installation: The opening must not be obstructed by carpeting when the washing machine is installed on a carpet floor.

What are the main components and their functions?

Overflow filter: Filters overflowing water.

Operation panel: Control center of the washer.

Water supply inlet: Where water enters the machine.

Convenient excess water indicator outlet: Shows when too much water has been supplied. Adjust the tap accordingly.

How do I use the operation panel controls?

Water Supply Selector: Use this selector to choose to supply water to the washing tub or spin dryer basket.

If you set it to the “SPIN” position, “Preliminary spinning” will be activated.

If “Preliminary spinning” is performed, it will take less time for you to perform “Main rinsing”.

Wash Timer: Use this timer to set the washing or rinsing time to your desired length of time.

If you want to set the timer to 5 min. or less, turn the control beyond the 10 min. position, and then turn it back to the desired position.

Mode/Drain Selector: Use this selector to select either “Wash Mode (NORMAL or SOFT)” or “Drain”.

Spin Timer: Turn this selector to your desired length of time when you spin-dry laundry.

If you want to set the timer to 1 min. or less, turn the selector beyond the 2-min. position, and then turn it back to the desired position.

How does the Soak Function work?

The soak program will increase washing efficiency. It is better than normal washing and helps you get clothes cleaner. Enter the soak function by dialing the wash timer to 35 minutes. It is in the soak function until the wash timer points at 15 minutes, at which point it enters normal washing.

Features of Soak Function:

1. Increases detergent efficiency to the maximum because it will reach clothes easily.

2. Bad smells and sticky dirtiness, especially at collars and stains, will be removed easily.

3. Reduces the washing load of clothes.

4. No scrubbing is needed, so it will not damage the clothes.

5. Clothes will be treated and will last longer.

How do I prepare the washing machine for use?

1. Confirm that the connection of the earth lead is made correctly (for a house without a 3-pin plug system).

2. Pull down the water drain hose.

3. Connect the water supply joint with a water supply hose. Insert the water supply joint into the water supply inlet (diameter 15 mm).

4. Connect the power plug to the power outlet.

Before washing, see “Hints for Effective Washing”.

What is the general procedure for washing clothes?

1. Washing

1. Set the MODE/DRAIN SELECTOR to “NORMAL” or “SOFT”.

2. Set the water supply selector to the “WASH” position.

3. Add water to the washing tub to dissolve detergent well. Fill the tub until the drain filter is submerged, add a measured amount of detergent, and set the wash timer to about two minutes to dissolve it completely.

4. Put your laundry into the washing tub and add water until it reaches the suitable level for the laundry load.

5. Select your desired water current.

6. Set the washing time to the desired time according to your needs (see table below).

7. When washing is finished, set the mode/drain selector to “Drain” to discharge the washing water.

2. Preliminary Spinning (Optional but Recommended)

Before rinsing, be sure to perform preliminary spinning to remove as much soapy water as possible. This enables you to reduce time and water for rinsing. See the “How do I perform a preliminary spin?” section for instructions.

3. Rinsing

You can perform either a “pool rinse” or an “extra rinse”. See the “How do I rinse the laundry?” section for instructions.

4. Spinning

Put the laundry into the spin dryer basket and start spin-drying it. See the “How do I spin-dry the laundry?” section for instructions.

What are the recommended wash times for different types of laundry?

Types of Laundry Washing Time Mode/drain selector
Extremely soiled and bulky laundry 10 to 15 min. NORMAL
Linen, cotton, etc. 8 to 10 min.
Ordinary clothes (underwear, etc.) 7 min.
Slightly stained, synthetic fiber 2 to 5 min.
Delicate clothes, including 100% wool garments, wool-blended yarn fabric and thin synthetic fiber with a tag indicating “HandWashing”. 2 to 5 min. SOFT

The standard amount of laundry to wash applies to the case where the laundry made of those fabrics and textiles that are specified by JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) are washed. However, the amount may vary according to types, sizes, and thickness of laundry. For ordinary type of clothes, about 80% of the standard amount can be washed effectively.

How do I perform a preliminary spin?

1. Open the Spin dryer lid and Inner safety lid.

2. Put the laundry into the spin dryer basket evenly, and set the Inner Cover horizontally inside the basket by putting it under the bottom of the balancer.

3. Close the Inner safety lid and Spin dryer lid.

4. Set the spin timer to 2 to 3 min. first, then perform the spinning action.

How do I rinse the laundry?

You can perform either “pool rinse” or “extra rinse.” The former is recommended to save water, while the latter rinses laundry completely.

Pool Rinse (Water-saving rinse)

1. Put the laundry into the washing tub.

2. Set the mode/drain selector to “NORMAL” or “SOFT”.

3. Set the water supply selector to the “WASH” position.

4. Fill the tub with water up to the selected water level.

5. Set the timer to 7 to 10 min.

6. After rinsing, perform a spin for 1 min.

7. In about 1 min after spinning, set the mode/drain selector to DRAIN.

8. If rinsing is incomplete, repeat steps 4 through 7 once or twice more.

Extra Rinse (Water-circulation overflow rinsing)

1. Open the Spin dryer lid, and set the water supply selector to the “SPIN” position.

2. Feed water to the spin dryer basket for about 1 min.

3. Stop supplying water to the spin dryer basket and start spin-drying the laundry for one minute.

4. Put the laundry back into the washing tub and fill with water to the selected level.

5. Continue feeding water to the washing tub, while adjusting the water level. Adjust the water level so that no water overflows from the “Convenient Excess Water Indicator Outlet”.

6. Set the washing timer to 7 to 10 min., and perform rinsing. (Set to 15 min. if you did not perform preliminary spinning). When rinsing is completed, close the water tap.

How do I spin-dry the laundry?

Follow the same procedures as for Preliminary spinning (steps 1, 5, 6).

WARNING: Never put your hands into the spin dryer basket when it is spinning and until it comes to a full stop. If the spin dryer basket does not stop within fifteen seconds after you open the spin dryer lid, immediately stop using the washer and ask for repairs.

Recommendable spinning time:
Laundry Spinning time
Linen (cotton, towel, etc.) 3 to 5 min.
Underwear (cotton) 2 to 4 min.
Shirt (blended yarn fabric) 1 to 2 min.
Thin clothes (chemical fibers) 1 min.

What are some hints for effective rinsing and spinning?

Hints for Rinsing:

If you wish to remove bubbles after each rinsing process, perform extra rinsing (water-circulation overflow rinsing) in Soft Mode (water current) at the final stage of the rinsing for one minute or so. This helps you reduce bubbles remaining floated on the rinse water.

It saves water to wash clothes in the same water that was used for rinsing.

Hints for Spinning:

Put small-sized laundry, such as socks and handkerchiefs, in the bottom area of the spin dryer basket to prevent them from popping out.

If the washer makes any abnormal noise during the spin cycle, stop the spinning operation and spread the laundry uniformly inside the spin dryer basket once again.

For easy draining, be sure to drain the washing water remaining in the washing tub after the spin cycle is completed.

To pick out an article which has fallen between the spin dryer basket and washing tub, take off the power plug and please call the service center to request for repairing.

How do I wash wool garments and other delicate laundry?

Precaution: Do not machine-wash items that come only with a “Dry Cleaning” label, animal hair materials (like cashmere), or special knit items like lace.

Helpful hints for effective washing:

Prior to washing, be sure to use the kind of detergent specified by the symbol attached to clothes to be washed and dissolve it well in water. It is recommendable to use lukewarm water at about 30 °C for washing wool garments and knit wear.

Turn the laundry inside out and place it in a commercially available washing net, so that soapy water can immerse into it well.

For heavily stained laundry, it is recommendable to soak it in soapy water beforehand (about 5 min.) for better washing results.

If a blanket resurfaces while the washing is in operation, push it under the water.

When you move the laundry into the spin dryer basket, squeeze lightly water out of it and put it in the basket in the manner as shown in the illustration.

Please note that the washing net should be used if the size or weight of the comforter or blanket exceeds the following, or exceeds 30 cm after being folded and rolled. Otherwise, the comforter or blanket may pop out from the spin tub while spinning and damage the washing machine.

How do I fold a comforter for washing?

1. Fold the Comforter or Blanket in half in a lengthwise direction.

2. Fold the Comforter or Blanket in thirds (Fold in an S shape).

3. Roll the Comforter or Blanket. The height shall not exceed 30 cm. If so, it may cause clothes damage.

4. Put the Comforter or Blanket into the spin dryer basket. Please put/fold the comforter or Blanket with the dirty side toward the outside; it will wash more cleanly.

How do I use the optional Washing Net?

The washing net should be used if the height of the comforter or blanket exceeds 30 cm after being folded and rolled.

1. After following the procedure for folding a comforter, put the comforter into the NET.

2. Put the NET into the spin dryer basket.

What are some hints for effective washing?

Check Clothing Tags: Observe the “Instructions” given on the tag attached to the clothes.

Wool Garments: When you are worried about the tangling of a wool garment, turn it inside out before washing.

Bulky Laundry: Put bulky laundry, such as sheets or jeans, first into the washing tub. This aims at moving the entire laundry more easily inside the washing tub while the washing is in progress.

Pre-treating Stains: Prior to washing, rub detergent beforehand into sections of a laundry, such as the hem of a thick bed quilt, showing heavy stains. To remove such stains more easily, you can use the hand washing corner (washboard).

Delicate Items: Put those laundry items that are likely to be easily damaged into a commercially available washing net before washing.

Soiled Clothes: If clothes you wish to wash are extremely soiled, they may be dipped in soapy water in advance.

Strings and Fasteners: Secure strings and close fasteners before washing. This aims at preventing damage to the clothes and fasteners.

Foreign Objects: Be sure to remove sharp-edged objects and foreign materials (hairpin, coin, etc.) from the pockets of laundry before washing. This is to avoid damaging the washing tub and clothes, or obstructing the drain pipe.

Dirt and Sand: Be sure to remove dirt or sand before washing.

How do I clean the machine?

Wipe dust and dirt away from the washer’s unit with a soft and clean cloth dampened with a small amount of water. When using a chemically treated cleaning cloth, observe its instructions.

Lint Filter

1. How to remove: Push the knob, and pull it toward you lightly to remove the lint filter.

2. How to clean: You can remove lint easily from the filter net when it is wet. Turn the net inside out and remove only the waste threads in it. Then, put the net back.

3. How to replace: Set it to its original place. In the same way as it is removed, push the knob, and insert the lower shaft into the hole. Next, align the upper shaft, and push it in.

Overflow Filter

1. How to remove and clean: Pull the overflow filter forward to remove it. Remove waste threads. Use a toothbrush, etc. to clean the washing tub.

2. How to replace: Replace the overflow filter.

How do I install the washing machine?

Placement: Place the washer on a dry, well-ventilated, level floor. Avoid a place where the washer can be exposed to direct sunlight, as the components may be deformed or discolored.

For 3-Pin Plug System: No need to install an optional earth lead.

WARNING: Never connect the earth lead to a gas pipe, telephone line, lightning rod, or water pipe.

Drain Hose:

If the hose is too long: Use a knife, etc., to cut it at its straight section.

When extending the drain hose: The length of the extended hose should be within 2 meters. It is advisable to buy the optionally available water drain hose for this purpose.

If the drain hose raises in the halfway: Put the washer on a base so that drain water flows smoothly.

What should I check if the washer does not function at all?

Is the fuse blown or circuit breaker switched off?

Is there a poor connection between the power supply plug and outlet?

Is any water remaining in the pulsator frozen?

What should I check if the laundry will not move smoothly?

Is an excessive amount of laundry put in the washing tub?

What should I check if the spin dryer basket will not function?

Is the spin dryer lid closed completely?

Are there any clothes (sock, etc.) that fell out of the spin dryer basket and clung to the axis?

What should I check if the spinning is incomplete?

Is the laundry spread evenly inside the spin dryer basket?

Is the drain port closed with laundry falling out of the tub or basket?

Are there bubbles all around the spin dryer basket?

Is the water drain hose raised in the halfway? Is the hose extended for more than 2 meters?

What should I check if water leaks from the hose?

Is the drain valve or drain outlet clogged with lint, dirt, or mud?

What should I check if the draining is incomplete?

Is the overflow filter clogged with lint?

Is the drain hose crushed or damaged?

How can I check the washer for possible malfunctions if it is used for an extended period?

Check to see if any of the following conditions or other abnormalities exist:

The spin dryer basket is difficult to stop.

There are water leaks (hose, washing tub, joint, etc.).

There is a smell of burning or strange noise and vibration when the washer is in operation.

If you touch the washer, you receive an electric shock.

The washer rattles or is installed on an inclined surface.

When you turn on the switch, the washer sometimes does not operate.

The timer sometimes stops functioning halfway.

The power cord or plug is heated excessively.

Other failures and malfunctions are found in the washer.

If any of the above-mentioned conditions or abnormalities exist, be sure to immediately switch off the power switch to prevent an accident and damage, and ask the dealer to inspect and repair the washer.
