• The number of slices and bread freshness will affect toast color. For example, toasting 6 slices of bread will require a darker setting than 2 slices. Adjust the Timer based on the desired color and number of slices.

• Condensation may form on the oven door during toasting; this is normal.

To use the bake function on your HAMILTON BEACH 31412, follow these steps:

1. Place the oven rack on the MIDDLE RACK POSITION or LOW RACK POSITION, depending on the food to be cooked.

2. Turn the Temperature Dial to the desired temperature.

3. Turn the Function Dial to BAKE. To preheat, rotate the Timer past 10 and then back to the “dark toast” setting. Preheat the oven for 5 minutes before beginning to bake.

• Bake foods like appetizers, cookies, and hors d’oeuvres on the baking pan in the MIDDLE RACK POSITION. Potatoes can be placed directly on the rack.

• Bake foods like a whole chicken on the LOW RACK POSITION. Place the food in the baking pan.

• Do not totally enclose foods in aluminum foil, as it can insulate foods and slow down heating.

• To reheat rolls or biscuits, place them on the baking pan and heat at 300°F (149°C) for 10 minutes.

• Turn foods halfway through the cooking time.

To use the broil function on your HAMILTON BEACH 31412, follow these steps:

1. Place the oven rack in the appropriate position. HIGH RACK is for faster broiling. MIDDLE RACK is for browning casseroles or melting cheese. LOW RACK is for foods needing longer broiling times like chicken breasts. Slide the broiling/baking pan under the oven rack. Place food in the oven. DO NOT PREHEAT THE OVEN.

2. Turn the Temperature Dial to TOAST/BROIL.

3. Turn the Function Dial to BROIL.

4. Rotate the Timer past 10 and then to the desired broiling time, or rotate the Timer to STAY ON while pressing and holding the buttons on the side of the dial. Turn foods when browned or halfway through cooking time.

5. When finished, turn the oven OFF (O) and then unplug.

Your HAMILTON BEACH 31412 should be cleaned regularly for best performance and long life. Regular cleaning also reduces the risk of fire hazard. Follow these steps:

WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts.

1. Turn the oven OFF (O) and then unplug. Allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

2. To clean the inside of the oven, wipe the oven walls, bottom of the oven, and glass door with a damp, soapy cloth. Repeat with a damp, clean cloth. For stubborn stains, use a plastic scouring pad.

3. Remove the oven rack and baking pan.

4. Wash the rack and pan in warm, soapy water with a sponge or plastic scouring pad. Rinse and dry.

5. Wipe the outside of the oven with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleansers or metal scouring pads.
